Yeah, that's very interesting. I really hope Nolan does some form of commentary for the much anticipated ultimate collector's edition of the trilogy. I just love hearing him talk about movies/Batman.

Very interesting indeed. Makes me wonder the idea of Nolan comparing TDKR to the biggest thing since the silence era. A disaster genre film with Batman where it focused more on imagery of the city than giving Gotham a bigger voice or soul.

These folks are pretty cinema saavy and The Dark Knight Rises received enough votes to make their top ten of 2012.

http://www.soundonsight.org/staff-list-the-50-best-films-of-2012-40-31/

It comes in at 9.

10. The Cabin in the Woods
9. The Dark Knight Rises
8. Django Unchained
7. Tabu
6. Looper
5. Skyfall
4. Amour
3. Holy Motors
2. Moonrise Kingdom
1. The Master

Ehhh....no Lincoln or Argo in the top ten.

Bleh.

No Life of Pi either. :down

Going by cumulative votes is kind of a flawed system but you get an idea of what they generally liked in 2012. As far as Lincoln goes, I liked it a lot, but cinephiles haven't cared for Spielberg since hell... A.I. Artificial Intelligence.... so Lincoln's absence doesn't surprise me.

I didn't think much of Skyfall but I knew that it would be on their list. Film fans from all denominations love Bond. Plus it's directed by Sam Mendes and was shot by Roger Deakins. It looks gorgeous.

Basically, I was shocked that Rises got enough votes amongst it's members to crack their top ten. His "fans" must be hiding or something because Nolan isn't exactly popular over there.

I saw TDK a few days ago and I liked it more. But I saw TDKR after that and I like that one a bit better overall.

I can't seem to make up my mind :(

I just view The Dark Knight Trilogy as a series of films that's better than the last. Imo, TDKR > TDK > BB.

Watching TDKR on dvd this very moment!! Ha seems so long ago since all those discussions and arguments over plotholes. Bane is still awesome.

Having a bad back myself makes it painful viewing mind lol!!

Batman actors meshed into one image.

This gives such great reasoning with the detail/lack-of of Gotham City's voice and soul through the trilogy with TDK having the most of it. TDKR's format changed into just a disaster flick where Nolan had to take liberties and excuse certain ideals such as Gotham's voice.

A disaster film is a film genre that has an impending or ongoing disaster (such as a damaged airliner, fire, shipwreck, disease, an asteroid collision or natural calamities) as its subject. Along with showing the spectacular disaster, these films concentrate on the chaotic events surrounding the disaster, including efforts for survival, the effects upon individuals and families, and 'what-if' scenarios.

Even if the disaster genre was his intent, I think it's fair to say that he failed big time with the bolded

So damn freaky. Although...reminds of of the look of Bruce Wayne in Arkham City, lol.

Efforts of survival? The remaining police trying to find the bomb, people holding up in buildings trying to remain alive and safe. And plus, showing the effects of what has happened after the certain deconstruction of Gotham City with there being martial law, kangaroo courts with people being exiled. Even a moment of some thugs trying to steal one little apple from a kid. The only two things TDKR didn't show is the latter two.

I saw this a few days ago, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which facial features belong to which actors... though I *think* that's Bale's mouth lol.

Can't be Bale's mouth because it's closed. ;)

They probably averaged out all the facial features. :funny:

I can detect a tinge of Clooney smirk. :woot:

Another amazing poster that's better than any of the Blu-ray/DVD covers.

Happy 2013 ladies and gents.

I came VERY close to drunk-posting last night from my phone, but then I saw that amalgam of all the Bruce Waynes and it completely stumped me. Probably for the best, heh.

Even sober though, it still seriously freaks me out :wow:

Those mash-up of actor's faces always creep me out. :funny: They almost always never look better than any of the individual faces.

When watching the film today, I got to the scene where Bruce flubs up in front of Miranda ("Actually this is my party.") and all I could think was Joker's line "Very poor choice of words." :hoboj:
