Does it even matter? This is the movie awards show where Twilight movies wiped the last few years...

Name one awards group that has not awarded undeserving movies in the past. The MTV awards are hardly the most prestigious awards ever, but BB and TDK both scored at them.

That's why I asked.

I guess BB and TDK were the most beloved blockbuster movies of their respective years. BB had Lucas' misguided trilogy ender Revenge of the Sith, Spielberg's badly concluding War of the Worlds, and Jackson's bloated King King to (not) contend with. TDK had the disappointing Indy 4, the mediocre Quantum of Solace, the meandering Curious Case of Benjamin Borton, and the very good but not as good Iron Man to tower over. TDKR had the fricking Avengers, the exuberant Django Unchained and the fantastic Skyfall to steal its thunder. Also, the human filth James Holmes tainting the film forever with his abhorrent brush.

I still don't see how Holmes tainted the film. The only connection between the film and what he did was that the film was playing during the tragedy. That's it.

I've yet to meet someone who hates TDKR because of James Eagan Holmes. Maybe I just don't get out much.

It's really strange that TDKR didn't get much awards love...

It seems that the BAFTAS just threw it a meager bone and that's it. Oh well, I still love it.

In the awards circuits reluctance to associate with it. I wasn't talking about the GA.

But the MTV movie awards are decided by the GA. I thought that was what we were talking about?
Oh, they are? Pfft, like I would know. I don't even watch it. I guess I was making a broader point in conjunction to my MTV non-point.

I don't watch it either.

I only know from seeing people post stuff saying "go vote for TDKR at the MTV movie awards!"

Tom Hardy should've won the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.

Anne Hathaway or Marion Cotillard should've won the Razzie award for worst actress.

Marion had one bad scene... but she was on auto-pilot for the entire film.

Can't really blame her with the material she got.

John Blake could have won the award for lamest character ever. That's right, I said it. :o

But, yeah... I definitely agree.

I'd actually support this. He was one of the biggest flies in TDKR's ointment for me.

I've had my gripes with tdkr, but damn, that Batman vs Bane fight should have won.

If TA won it, I think they deserved it. I do like the first Bane vs Batman fight, though. The second one? Not so much.....

The mtv movies don't mean a thing. They are aimed at stupid teens. Come on, twilight ****ing won years in a row. That's saying alot.

If any fight in The Avengers won, it should have been the Helicarrier one. The climax wasn't very good. At least in my opinion, obviously I'm in the minority on it. Meh.

Its just my personal taste. I think I posted that in one of the other Bat forums, that I just prefer things on smaller scale then the big theatrics (which was my gripe against TDKR). Anyways, I enjoyed the Avengers for what it was, but the first fight between Bane and Batman really delivered. I don't think I've read anyone on either side of the tdkr fence, complain about the first fight. I've always appreciated the fact that Nolan has tried to keep cgi out of the bat films as much as possible. The Bane vs Batman fight showed you could really keep an audience on the edge of their seat minus all the sparklers.

BB and TDK were nominated plenty during their respective years as well for MTV and the only awards they won were Best Hero for BB and Best Villain for TDK. What a shame Bale didn't win for Best Hero for TDKR and Hardy won Best Villain for TDKR.

But, other than that...Twilight beat both Iron Man and The Dark Knight that year, lol. Again, MTV's fans and their love for glittery vamps :funny:

Avengers is definetely deserving of best picture over all the BP options, but TDKR should have nabbed best fight scene. The last thirty/forty minutes of Avengers was awesome, but that was a sequence of fights involving hundreds of disposable aliens. A best fight award deserves to go to a one-on-one confrontation and the first Bane/Bats fight was the far and away the highlight of the film.

As for villain, I would have given it to Talia...can't say that with a straight face. I'd give it to the baddie from Bond even though his name escapes me at the moment. His introductory scene talking about the 'rats' was haunting. I would have probably voted for Bane had I avoided watching the last half hour of the movie.
