Did anyone perchance observe the small incision on Bruce's cranium, when he acknowledged Alfred in the ristorante? You know, where Bane savagely demolished his mask? Does this not suffice to prove conclusively that Bruce yet lives, and Alfred did not drop some acid with his gazpacho?

sarcasm at its finest! but seriously dont you think its a big nail in the coffin type thing, considering how nolan does have a penchant for showing scars and " realistic" stuff in his movies.

I think you are probably right- the tenor of the whole scene is one of 'pleasant surprise'.

has anyone noticed the scar on bruces head in his last scene? you know where bane had brutally beat and cracked his cowl? isnt this enough concrete evidence that he indeed did survive, and not some senility from good ole alfred

Yep. Even if the scar wasn't there I wouldn't take it as a dream.

Right before Bruce meets Selina for the 1st time, he lifts the service cover, and there is nothing

Yes. That was a possible future for Bruce, based on his condition at that time.

I thought the scores got progressively worse with BB being the most impressive. Perhaps the parallel lack of James Newton Howards' involvement is key.

Inception is the best Nolan/Zimmer work; it's just a perfect balance of soft emotional tones and percussive bombast.

I love TDKR's score. Brutal, stirring, soaring. Tender, atmospheric and melancholic where it needs to be. It's probably my favorite album of 2012. That's coming from a predominantly hard rock/metal listener and there were several really great albums in those genres last year. But if I look at my plays on iTunes there's a clear winner there.

There are very few scores out there that I can work out or run to, TDKR is one of them.

I thought the scores got progressively worse with BB being the most impressive. Perhaps the parallel lack of James Newton Howards' involvement is key.

Inception is the best Nolan/Zimmer work; it's just a perfect balance of soft emotional tones and percussive bombast.

I think BB might well be the best one to listen to independently, but in terms of providing the perfect atmosphere for the films themselves, TDKR reigns supreme.

Me too. The line "you are as precious to me as you were to your own mother and father" wasn't in the movie, right? That would have been a nice set up for the graveyard scene.

I think the best line that was cut out is during Gordon's sentencing and when he asks Crane what kind of due process this is, Crane said it's more than what they gave Dent's prisoners.

Oh man, those two lines cut so deeply. I would have loved to hear them in the movie.

Looking at the script, I see two lines during the scene where Bruce is suiting up that really should have been included.

"I tried helping as Bruce Wayne, Alfred. And I failed."
"You can fail as Bruce Wayne. As Batman, you can’t afford to."

That line by Bruce. I think that's all some people needed to hear to understand better why Bruce was so broken. It wasn't just about giving up Batman because he lost Rachel. He gave up being Batman because he felt it was doing more harm than good - Rachel, Harvey, countless other innocent deaths. Bruce channeled his desire to help the city into work as Bruce Wayne - namely, the energy project. He spend five years developing it only to find out someone could turn it into a bomb. That is when he really sunk into his depression. He felt powerless to do anything.

I think a lot of people didn't realize this - it was the compounded failure as Batman AND as Bruce Wayne that led him to his state at the beginning of TDKR. But for some reason people just inferred that Bruce became emo because Rachel died. That was part of it but not the whole story. Rachel's death wasn't even the main reason Bruce gave up being Batman - he took the fall for Harvey's murders, Batman was now a wanted murderer, and the city simply didn't need him anymore. But certainly losing Rachel left an emptiness in Bruce's life after he had stopped being Batman.

Just writing this makes me emotional. I don't think I've ever been as wholly invested in one characters journey through a series of films.

I can't say I like those lines. It makes it seem Bruce is returning as Batman because he failed as Bruce Wayne, not because the city needs Batman again.

A: That was then. And you can strap up your leg and put the mask back on. But it won’t make you what you were.

B: If this man is all the things you say he is, then this city needs me.

A: Yes, this city needs Bruce Wayne. Your resources, your knowledge...not your body. Not your life. That time has passed.

B: I tried helping as Bruce Wayne, Alfred. And I failed.

A: You can fail as Bruce Wayne. As Batman, you can’t afford to.

B: That’s what you’re afraid of - that if I go back out there I’ll fail.

A: No. I’m afraid that you want to.

Honestly it works beautifully for me. He's saying, "The city needs Batman again. I may have failed as Bruce with the energy project, but maybe I can help as Batman once more."

It's all a matter of context I suppose. I don't view those couple of lines as you do, but perhaps when hearing those lines in film during their conversation, it would've sounded better.

Listening to 'Fear Will Find You' right now. It's all good - but I just love the Batman music that slams down from 46 seconds to 1.06. It's when The Bat takes off, with Bane looking on.
