I'm a diehard Batman fan... but I'm not paying for just a fancy box with vehicles in it.

They are already releasing steelbooks this summer. How many times do they expect fans to double/triple dip without some decent incentives?

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I figured this would be just a shameless cash grab on WB's part.

Prove me wrong WB. Prove me wrong.

Here here.

Unless those were the hot toys versions of the bat, bat-pod and tumbler; I ain't forking out cash for this, lol.

Agreed with both of you. If this is it, I won't get it. But I currently do believe this is a kind of "lite" version. We have that other picture that included this set plus more which I assume is the full Ultimate Edition.

Just going to drop this here for comparison. This set appears to also have 9 discs.

If. If that other picture is legit. They shouldn't even bother putting out a "lite" version of the boxset. All or nothing I say.

Yeah, I originally posted that from Nolanfans.com. Some of the artwork, most notably the Joker and Bane's, seem kind of "sketchy". But it has yet to be debunked, so...

The other version still has only 9 discs, so we can assume it's just a re-package of previous material.

Yes, the booklet and new images/designs are nice... but I think people deserve a little more than that. (Considering the price they'll no doubt have this at).

What makes this so frustrating is there has to be tons of behind the scenes material to be had here. Especially when you look at how they skimped over the BTS stuff for TDK. I'm not expecting an extended cut or any bonus scenes, but we should definitely get to see some more in depth featurettes like how Eckhart approached the duality of Dent/Two-Face and how they came up with the make-up for both Two-Face and the Joker. More insight on how Bale played the same character three times, yet very different each time around, the evolution of Batman and Gordon's partnership.

Bah, forget it. I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment, lol.

Yeah, we do have to wait to see if it is legitimate but I'm leaning to it being real at the moment.

Hopefully they cram more into those 9 discs.

Wait. Did Batman Begins have a second disc? My copy only has one and has the special features and menu at the end of the movie.

Yeah, Begins only had one disc.

In that case, I wonder if that disc is new material or if it's the Begins stuff split onto another disc.

If only they didn't have DVDs on there and had those full of new material.

I just want a new transfer and encoding of Batman Begins using more disc space! Make it happen!

Oh wow, I really dig the artwork if that's real.

And 9 discs could be potentially wonderful if they're careful about not repeating special features from the previous set. The recent Star Wars Saga Blu-ray set did a great job including entirely new bonus material without repeating any of the stuff from the DVD releases (which all had a considerable amount).

WB has done this type of thing before (with the wonderful Ultimate Matrix set). They know we'll be discerning about how much new stuff there is. This is our money they're after here, not the general public's. I'll be severely disappointed if they screw this up.

Is that scarecrow or a finished bag of Doritos?

I thought the straightjacket idea was obvious, lol.

That and Bane's mask being bars are some great art ideas, but fire coming out of Joker's eyes....ehhh, not a fan of that.

But speaking of Scarecrow...why is he shown? Are they trying to make it seem like Scarecrow is the main villain for BB?

Each movie has an "initial" villain and a "final" villain. Bear with my loose interpretation of these, especially for TDK. What I mean is that by the end of each movie a different villain has come to light.

BB - Scarecrow (initial), Ra's al Ghul (final)
TDK - Joker (initial) , Two-Face (final)
TDKR - Bane (initial), Talia (final)

So, for each card they've gone with the "initial" or primarily advertised villain, possibly to avoid spoiling each film's twist.

I think part of it comes down to aesthetics. The mask is probably just a better look than the face of Liam Neeso-....you know what? No. No mask is better than Liam Neeson.

Damn right! :awesome:

You make a point, but would they really be trying to avoid spoiling anything? Who hasn't seen any of these films yet? Lol.

Damn ****ing straight!

Ooh, why not some Batman trilogy trivia time!

Christopher Nolan said:
We wanted to have an escalation of threat. I think Scarecrow, in a sense, performs the function of a henchman, but because Ra's al Ghul is off-screen he seems like the central threat. We always thought it was very important that we have a second-act villain who would be seen as the main villain so that we could bring back our first-act mentor as a third-act villain. The central difficulty David was facing was my demand to relate the first act to the third act. What you have is Bruce Wayne leaving Gotham; he's not Batman yet. He goes on this journey which could be a detour — and something the audience wants to get past to get to Batman. The challenge in the screenplay when we were first working out the story was, 'How does that pay off at the end of the film? How does that relate to what happens? So we decided pretty early on that the mentor of the first act should be the super-villain of the third act.

Batman Begins: The Screenplay

Did you know, Hans Zimmer has worked on 4 Batman films?

Composer on the Nolan trilogy

Synthesist on Mask of the Phantasm.

Just looked up at the credits on Batman: MotP and saw his name. :woot:

MOTP has hands down the best Batman theme. Both Elfman's theme and Zimmer's theme cannot compare to the soundtrack found in MOTP and in Batman TAS overall (and yes, I know there is a bit of Elfman's theme in there as well but for the most part, it is its own soundtrack).
