Yeah, it's most likely going to someone younger. I bet it'll even be pre-mustache and glasses.

Im sure they'll want to keep his iconic look for the masses. The glasses and stache will probably stay.

So he can be...anywhere from his late 20s into his 40s depending on how they take it?

I would get somebody in their late 30s. Around the 40 mark.

Didn't they say it's going to be a young Gordon when he's detective, before Bruce even becomes Batman? So it cant be Cranston or anyone like that.

Leave Cranston for "film-Gordon".
No matter what role, what age, what context...the internet will always look to Cranston. :oldrazz:

Haha yeah. He'll be 60 soon and they'll be like WHO CARES? Put some makeup on him and pretend hes 20 years younger!

My only fear with this, is it could mean no more Batman solo films for a while. This might be a good tie-in or it might be a way to have Batman only in crossover films over the next 3 movies, while Gotham City is focused on in television. Therefore they don't have to have a film-version of Gordon, just on tv.

I want my solo movie damnit!

I could be wrong but if they really want to go the whole "prequel" route, this could be progress his look more and more towards the classic look as he matures as the series goes on.

It all depends on how young they want to go with this though. He could be a fresh faced officer new to the force, or it he could be a Detective or Lieutenant and it's only a few years before Batman's first appearance.

Looks like I am late to the party, haven't been on SHH in over two years. Being a fan girls there were some flaws but I really liked the movie. I was very happy to Catwoman in the film. After Batman Returns I had hoped to see more of her in following film, but that was an epic disappointment. I liked that they returned her to her cat burglar/jewel thief roots. I loved the scene where Batman and Catwoman wee fighting together on the roof. I have dreamed of such a since since I was 11/12 years old and watched Batman Returns, and BTAS.

I was a huge fan of BTAS as a young teenager and liked that Roland Dagget was in the film, albeit with a different.

Although I'm not a fan of all the incarnations of Robin, I was really excited by the big reveal at the end with the character John Blake. There are just so many possibilites for the character. Robin encompasses so many arcs and continuities that are very different.

I wasn't thrilled with the portrayal of Talia and her alliance with Bane and Banes backstory. I was happy over all with the Bane character though.

The ending IMO leaves open the chance for more films that could go any number of directions.

If Bruce Wayne has indeed retired then who takes over the cowl? If the sequence with Alfred at the cafe seeing Bruce and Selina together is indeed real does this mean that Huntress may enter to picture, or even that the Joker could return.

With the recent news that Affleck will the Batman in the Batman/Superman movie that just opens up more questions.

If they didn't call this movie TDKR what else could they have called it?

Blake takes over the cowl. But it has nothing to do with Batman vs Superman and Affleck. That's a brand new universe. A "reboot" where Batman is already a seasoned veteran in his 40s.

The trilogy ends with Bruce moving on with Selina, and Blake taking over. He was Robin or has always been (in a different way, which I loved too), but now he moves on to batman status. Maybe Joker returns, maybe he doesn't. Maybe Bruce and Selina have a daughter (Helena), maybe not. But yeah it's disappointing that WB won't push for more films starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Im down for this Affleck-new universe stuff, but it all seems to be motivated by money over story + pleasing the fanbase by keeping any version of Bruce Wayne in there as the Batman. Choosing Ben because of his status within the film industry as well as media, even though he's only a mediocre actor. When they could easily follow the story/direction Rises seems to be going in by continuing on with a very good young actor like JGL. Pass the concept onto Rian Johnson, Alfonso Cuaron or Denis Villeneuve who are extremely talented directors who fit the tone....but instead we're getting a 3D fest with Zack Snyder. Which could be a super entertaining action movie if done properly because Zack has it in him, but it's mainly done to rival Marvel's Avengers & Disney's Star Wars.

I know im being long-winded :cwink: but when I read a post like yours, it just reminds me that "yes there's new directions they can take that story". Maybe in a decade they can reprise that story and make a sequel/spin-off to TDKR. Let WB have their fun with these crossovers. Ill pay money to see them, hopefully they're great....but I would love to see the story continued. Even with Bale. As long as Bruce stays retired.

Legend(s) of the Dark Knight. Would have still had "TDK" in the title like WB wanted but would have still fit in thematically just as much (maybe even more since TDKR went back to the "legend" idea in BB).

Legend of the Dark Knight is cool, but I still prefer the title we got.

No offense but Shadow of the Bat always sounded like some classic (or typical) fanboy suggestion. The title should relate to the theme. The shadow of the bat? Sooo the bat gives off a shadow? Ok...

:pal:

But yeah, Shadow Of The Bat could have only worked if we actually got a movie based on Batman being hunted by the police, which is what some of us speculated we might actually get.

"Shadow of the Bat" sounds too small in scale. It wouldn't work IMO, at least not for a sequel as big as TDKR.

I wasn't a fan of the title "the dark knight rises' when it came out, although I'm ok with it now. When I first heard it, it sounded like they wanted to have something similar to the title "the dark knight returns' so they changed "returns" to 'rises".

I wasn't a fan of it either when it was first announced. I got used to it but I still don't think it was the best title they could have went with. It's not that it is a bad title but it makes the trilogy sound a bit awkward (Batman Begins....The Dark Knight....The Dark Knight Rises - BB's title sticks out due to being so radically different).

I also hate the fact that I now have to specify which TDKR I'm talking about (Rises or Returns) when I type the initials. :csad:

Love the title "The Dark Knight Rises". My alternatives would've been "The Legend of The Dark Knight" or, a phrase they used in the trailers "The Dark Knight Legend".

I'd never actually seen Returns abbreviated to TDKR until after Rises got its title. Even way back on the old DCO boards it was always abbreviated to DKR, by fans and DC writers alike.

I think it blends the first two titles nicely myself. Batman + verb. Then, simply Batman's moniker. Finally, Batman's moniker + verb. It's actually my favorite title out of all of them, it just sounds so grand and epic, even has a slight rhyme to it which I like more than the use of alliteration in BB's title. I don't think there's a more fitting title for the movie, without getting into weird variations that use the "Batman: _____" model.
And yeah, for me DKR= the graphic novel, TDKR= the movie.

Just thought of one actually,

The Dark Knight Mildly Disappoints Because People Expected Something As Good As The Dark Knight.
