It's been over a year since TDKR came out, and here are my final thoughts.
It's loud, it's both too long and too short, nothing about it makes sense, every single bit of continuity between BB and TDK is thrown away completely and any character depth created in the first two films is annihilated. It's a disaster of epic proportions that still confuses me.
I don't understand the positive reaction the critics gave it and I don't understand how any fan of Nolan's first two films can like TDKR. I remember last year when people on this forum pointed out all of the short comings of the film, and many die hards called it 'nit picking' and dismissed the complaints. It's not 'nit picking' when it's all true. It's not 'nit picking' when the things pointed out are major elements of the film that lower the overall enjoyment of the film.
The things i'm referring to have been written about here and discussed over and over, so they don't bare repeating, but they are valid and greatly impact my viewing of the film.
I get Nolan and Co. wanting to make a gigantic summer blockbuster and make a bazillion dollars, but what made me sad and angry was Chris' apparent full willingness to throw away every important theme and character moment of BB and TDK to make that big summer movie.
This is just my opinion. I don't want to tell other people whether or not they should like the movie, but as far as i'm concerned, it doesn't exist. I won't be watching it again. The only hope for a Batman reboot I have is if Nolan & Co have absolutely nothing to do with it.
