The Prestige was a complete work of genius. Definitely Nolan's most underrated work.

IMO, also his best. It's that film where everything just came together perfectly (at least for me). Heck, I bet if it came out after TDK's success, it would've been the film that could've gotten Nolan his Best Director nod. Jackman and Bale also already has the attention of the Academy at this time so it won't surprise me if one (or both) got a nod if it was release much later.

Yeah, that's where I get my Nolan quote from. I'm offended actually, Batlobster. Of course I double, hell triple dipped, and bought the last boxset! :oldrazz:

Lol, I figured JW. Shame on me for doubting your dedication.

"So you came back to die with your city?"
Fine, not great but OK, fair enough question from Bane.
"No. I came back to stop you!"
Really, that's the best you got Batman? In fact say nothing, alot of times Batman doesn't need to say anything. It's not just a poor line on his part but just a poor line in film in general. Even fat Kevin Smith, big Nolan and Batman fan boy pointed out how bad this line was.

After watching Begins for the first time in several years, yeah they say fear too much and anything Katie Holmes says...ugh, god.

TDKR, not so much... the best line in that movie was "When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die," which in turn was ruined when Bale growled out that silly "Tehl meh whar teh triggah ish... then yeh haf mah permisshun to die."

Many would disagree with you.

Btw, the way you spelled 'permission' is literally the exact and only way the world can be pronounced.

I think some of you hotheads need to start feelin it in your bones and stuff.

For you!

The best lineof the trilogy is in BB:

"He's in a vehicle!"
"Make and color?"
"It's a black...tank."

"He's flying on rooftops!"

"He's flying on rooftops!"

"I just ****ing said that, Phil!"

Alright lets turn things a bit more positive. What are your favorite lines from the villains? They always got some of the best lines. Some of mine:

Ra's: "Only a cynical man would call what these people have "lives," Wayne. Crime. Despair. This was not how man was supposed to live. The League of Shadows has been a check against human corruption for thousands of years. We sacked Rome, loaded trade ships with plague rats. Burned London to the ground. Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance."

Ra's on first seeing Bruce as Batman: "Well well you took my advice about theatricality a bit....literally"

Joker: "You just couldn't let me go could you. This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible aren't you. You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self righteousness, and I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever"

Joker: "Look what I did to this city with a few drums of gas and a couple of bullets. You know...you know what I noticed people don't panic when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If tomorrow I tell the press that like a gang banger will get shot, or a truck load of soldiers will be blown up....nobody panics. Because it's all 'part of the plan'. But when I say that one little 'ol Mayor will die....THEN EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MINDS!!!! Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order and everything becomes chaos. I am agent of chaos. Oh and you know the thing about chaos? It's fear"

Two-Face: "We thought we could be decent men in an indecent time. We were wrong. The world is cruel. And the only morality in a cruel world is chance. Unbiased, unprejudiced....fair"

Gordon: "Harvey, you're right. Rachel's death was my fault. Please don't punish the boy. Please punish me"
Two-Face: "I'm about to. Tell your boy he's going to be alright, Gordon. Lie...like I lied"

Bane: "Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you"

Bane: "Behind you stands a symbol of oppression, Blackgate Prison. Where a thousand men have languished under the name of this man, Harvey Dent, who has been held up to you as the shining example of justice. You have been supplied with a false idol to stop you from tearing down this corrupt city. Let me tell you the truth about Harvey Dent, from the words of Gotham’s police commissioner, James Gordon: “The Batman didn’t murder Harvey Dent. He saved my boy and took the blame for Harvey’s appalling crime, so that I could to my shame build a lie around this fallen idol. I praised the mad man who tried to murder my own child. While I can no longer live with my lie, it is time to trust the people of Gotham with the truth, and it is time for me to resign.”
And do you accept this man’s resignation? And do you accept the resignation of all these liars? Of all the corrupt? We take Gotham from the corrupt, the rich, the oppressors of generations who kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere, do as you please. Start by storming Blackgate and free the oppressed.
Step forward, those who would serve, for an army will be raised. The powerful will be ripped from their decadent nests and cast out into the cold world that we know and endure. Courts will be convened, spoils will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The police will survive as they learn to survive true justice. This great city… it will endure. Gotham will survive."

Ra's - "We are back to finish the job and this time no misguided idealists will get in the way. Like your father, you lack the courage to do all that is necessary. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart."

Nice choices...to add to that:

Ra's: But I know the rage that drives you. That impossible anger strangling the grief, until the memory of your loved ones is just poison in your veins. And one day you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain.

Ra's: When a forest grows too wild, a purging fire is inevitable and natural.

Joker: You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it, you know...I just...do things.

Joker: You see madness, as you know, is like...gravity. All it takes is a little push!

Joker: It's a funny world we live in...

Two-Face: It's not about what I want. It's about what's fair!

Stock broker: This is a stock exchange, there's no money to steal.
Bane: Really? Then why are you people here?

Bane: The shadows betray you...because they belong to me!

Bane: Ah yes, I was wondering what would break first. Your spirit...or your body!

Bruce: Torture?
Bane: Yes. But not of your body. Of your soul.

Captain Jones: I'll die before I talk.
Bane: I'm on your schedule captain.

Dagget: I've paid you a small fortune.
Bane: And this gives you...power over me?

Talia: You see, it's the slow knife, the knife that takes its time, the knife that waits years without forgetting. That's the knife that cuts...deepest.

Talia: Don't kill him. I want him to feel the heat. Feel the fire of 12 million souls...you failed.

Ra's Al Ghul: "But, if you make yourself more than just a man...if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can't stop you...then you become something else entirely."

Ra's Al Ghul: "Death Does not wait for you to be ready. Death is not considerate or fair. And make no mistake, here you face death."

Ra's Al Ghul: "The training is NOTHING, will is EVERYTHING....The will to act."

Ra's Al Ghul: "But is Ra's Al Ghul Immortal? Are his methods supernatural?"

The Joker: "I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you...stranger."

The Joker: "Come here. Hey! Look at me. So I had a wife. She was beautiful, like you. Who tells me I worry too much. Who tells me I ought to smile more. Who gambles and gets in deep with the sharks. One day, they carve her face. And we have no money for surgeries. She can't take it. I just want to see her smile again. I just want her to know that I don't care about the scars. So... I stick a razor in my mouth and do this...[the Joker mimics slicing his mouth open with his tongue]...to myself. And you know what? She can't stand the sight of me! She leaves. Now I see the funny side. Now I'm always smiling!

The Joker: "Do you want to know why I use a knife? Guns are too quick. You can't savor all the... little emotions. In... you see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?"

Bane: "Or perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man, before throwing him out of a plane?"

Bane: "Yes...the fire rises!"

Bane: "Calm down, Doctor! Now's not the time for fear. That comes later."

Bane: "You fight like a younger man, with nothing held back. Admirable but mistaken."

The Chechen: "This is why we bring dogs!"
Then it comes around full circle. :)

"Freak? Why don't we cut you up into little pieces and feed you to your pooches, hmm? And then we'll see just how loyal a hungry dog really is."

So many great lines. Not sure about the rest of you, but I can hear all of their voices when I read those quotes. As mentioned above, I really loved that line by Bane when he says "Victory has defeated you'. I also never get tired of that exchange between Batman and the Joker in the first trailer.."Ahhhh alittle fight you, I like that"......"Then your gonna love me!"

Too many to quotes to choose from (especially from TDK). I'll post some that haven't been mentioned yet.

"NO MORE DEAD COPS!!!!"

j/k

"It's not who I am underneath... but what I DOOOO... that defines me."

"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Alfred Pennyworth: "Know your limits, Master Wayne."
Bruce Wayne: "Batman has no limits."
Alfred Pennyworth: "Well, you do, sir."
Bruce Wayne: "Well, can't afford to know 'em."
Alfred Pennyworth: "And what happens on the day that you find out?"
Bruce Wayne: "Well, we all know how much you love to say "I told you so."
Alfred Pennyworth: "On that day, Master Wayne, even I won't want to. Probably."

Bruce Wayne: "I knew the mob wouldn't go down without a fight. But this is different, they crossed the line."
Alfred Pennyworth: "You crossed the line first, sir. You hammered then and in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand. Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."

Bruce Wayne: "People are dying, Alfred. What would you have me do?"
Alfred Pennyworth: "Endure, Master Wayne. Take it. They'll hate you for it, but that's the point of Batman, he can be the outcast. He can make the choice that no one else can make, the right choice."
Bruce Wayne: "Well today I found out what Batman can't do. He can't endure this. Today you get to say "I told you so."
Alfred Pennyworth: "Today, I don't want to."
[pauses for several moments]
Alfred Pennyworth: "But I did bloody tell you."

The Joker: [to the mob after performing his "magic trick"] "Oh, and by the way, the suit, it wasn't cheap. You oughta know, you bought it."

Jim Gordon: "I never cared who you were..."
Batman: "And you were right."
Jim Gordon: "...but shouldn't the people know the hero who saved them?"
Batman: "A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended."
[takes off in the Bat]
Jim Gordon: "Bruce Wayne?"

There's a small line that's easy to overlook but one that I go back to because I think it speaks volumes about Bruce's arc not only in the film in which it appears but the entire trilogy. It's Bruce's first line in Rises:

"Is that what they say about me?"

It's the essential idea of a man turning himself into a legend. Only here it is the unintended consequence of Bruce's action, or nonaction, that has made him a myth to others. Blake talks directly about this later on and with the whole plot thread about the fusion reactor the film examines the true power Bruce has on his own and how it impact the city at large. But the entire trilogy is about legends, really. As a legend Batman is never really diminished and Bruce's legacy never quite does either.

That line and Bruce's appearance, not to mention the music... hit me right in the feels.

Falafel guy - "Flass, I have kids to feed."

Flass - "What, They don't like falafel?"
