Jonah Hill? Man would that be out of the box casting. Such an interesting choice I like it.

And Jonah, gaining weight AGAIN. Here's him this past week..

Eddie poster here suggested that in the Penguin Casting Thread but nobody gave a crap apart from me. I think it's a great idea Jonah Hill would be perfect in the role.

I'm sold on Hill as Penquin now from those pics, Shauner. Add a prosthetic nose and he'd be perfect. Meyers could also be great too.

One of my major gripes with the portrayal of Batman in these movies is his total LACK of detective skills. We literally get ONE sequence out of all three movies where he does a little bit of detective work, which was in The Dark Knight with the bullet hole in the wall thing. I really hope Afleck's Batman has some detective elements to him.

This couldn't be more far from the truth. We get more detective/P.I. work in the Nolan films than any of the other Batman films that came before.

Batman Begins:

1) Photographs and conducts research on Jim Gordon to see how legit of a Police officer he is.

2) Eaves drops on Flass and Falcone’s meeting to discuss a plot to kill Rachel Dawes. This then leads to Bruce following Rachel to the Gotham subway, saving her life from two would be hit men. And IIRC, that same meeting is what leads Bruce to the Docks.

The Dark Knight:

1) Bruce uses Marked bills to track down the location of the Mobs dirty money.

2) It is Bruce who finds out, even before Lucius, that it is Lau who is laundering money for the mob. All he needed was to view Lau’s records/books up close to be 100% certain.

3) After obtaining information from the finger print analysis, Bruce tells Alfred “to cross-reference the addresses. Look for Parkside, overlooking the parade”.

4) Bruce uses Fox's sonar device to wire tap every phone in the city to find the Joker. That was his own idea.

5) Bruce has Alfred send the information regarding police officers with family members at risk in the hospital to Gordon. Not only that, as Bruce is cruising around the hospital he spots out the cops and remembers them all by name - instantly, except for one. "I saw Burns and Zachary . . . and a patrolman I don't know".

The Dark Knight Rises:

1) Bruce shows his knowledge of forensics by naming what kind and why Selina used certain dust powders just by looking at it.

2) Uses the tracking device on his deceased mother’s pearls to track down Selina Kyle at the masquerade ball.

3) After Bruce locates Selina, he then gives her a run down of the information he found about her past and current criminal activity as a thief.

4) He found out about and obtained the "clean slate" program, something that a pro thief was after for so long and the criminal underworld thought was only a myth.

He also fixed the auto-pilot on the Bat. Something Fox wasn't even capable of fixing.

You beat me to it Jack and listed more than I could

All this talk about a potential Nolan/Bale flick down the line makes me hope it dosen't happen.

I can't recall a time where a film franchise's creative team waited 15+ years to do another installment, and that installment was actually good.

Indiana Jones 4 was a cinematic masterpiece.

Is their tangible foundation for such potential? Interstellar will make its money back as far as I can see. There isn't yet need for Nolan to crawl back to Batman.

Star Wars failed. Godfather failed (for the most part). Indiana Jones failed. Superman failed.

Nolan doesn't need to return to Batman. He'll be fine. But it's about story. And in WB's case: money. If Jonah Nolan or Chris himself come up with something then he'll do it. But that probably won't happen unless WB come crawling to Nolan if/when they don't want to reboot just yet after Affleck, or they have an idea for Batman Beyond with a past actor but Keaton refused. Nolan will either turn them down flat or think he can do something with it.

We're speculating on this because we know how passionate they were about Batman. Both Christian and Chris have expressed their love for making these films in the past week.

Anyways, we're just having fun thinking about a premise for a storyline that probably won't happen. It's all good.

Links? I would like to read it.

It was from Bale's Empire interview:

“I’ve got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always that bit of me going. ‘Oh go on….let’s do another.’ So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour. But I’m 40. The fact that I’m jealous of someone else playing Batman…I think I should have gotten over it by now. I haven’t spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid doing anything that I did.”

Tron was good, whilst the new Star Wars were tosh they did make a ton of dough. People kept going back for more so I really don't think they can be deemed failures at all. The quality of the film is subjective end of the day.

I thought Tron sucked.

Yeah but the Star Wars prequels were still trash. Of course they made money, and of course i believe most of it is all subjective, but there are certain movies that just aren't good.

I'm hoping The Force Awakens breaks that cycle.

But yeah, it's just fun speculation and wishful thinking. Though in a world where we're getting a sequel to Return of the Jedi 30 years later featuring the return of the original cast (something I would've laughed at just a couple of years ago), I never say never for these types of things.

In some ways but you can't call something a failure simply because you didn't like it. I think in those instances you have to say it's a success or a failure based on the box office.

I agree the Star Wars prequels were garbage as films but that just means we share that opinion. Tron Legacy I actually thought was better than the original.

I really hope so, I don't think I could stomach another bad Star Wars film.

Despite its bad reputation, Rises is the favourite Batman movie of 90% of the people i know. Also, most of my friends weren´t very impressed with TDK but really liked this one. I find it very curious.

Same here, except i have a friend who still loves TDK more than any of them. He still loves Rises though.

The majority of who i speak to think TDKR is the superior Batman movie in the trilogy. And i agree. I caught a bit of TDK on tv last week, and as much as i love it, i dont think it's got the scope, emotion or the focus on Bruce as much as Rises. I put on Dark Knight and i feel like im watching a great crime film with Gotham characters, but when i watch Begins (especially the first act) and all of Rises, it hits me more. They feel more personal to me.

TDK focuses more on Harvey Dent and The Joker than Bruce for sure. Dent really is the character with a beginning to end arc. TDKR brings it back around and completes the circle with BB.

Yup. Dennis O'Neill said it perfect. That as good as the films are on their own, the whole trilogy as one story is much greater.

I think TDK is a great film on its own, for sure. The tightest script of the three. And the most popular movie. But i actually think it's better within the context of the trilogy than on its own. For me anyway. It's a great centerpiece to the trilogy, but i like Rises more. Rises is bolder, yet doesn't have as tight of a script like TDK. But it excels in the department of emotion & heart.

It's ironic...I personally think TDK is the most all-around solid of the trilogy, yet taken as a whole it's almost the odd man out in terms of less connective tissue and more of a stand-alone story. I mean, it does tie in with the truth about Dent coming out and Batman's retirement, but BB and TDKR feel more connected than TDK.

I love all the ways BB and TDKR tie together.

"Why do we fall, Bruce? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up" Repeated several times through BB, by both Thomas Wayne and Alfred, and finally literally acted out in TDKR.

The well Bruce falls into in his childhood at the beginning of BB looks like the pit in TDKR.
