Great list of comics references. Another one is Bane of the Demon, where Ra's imprisons Bane in a prison pit that Bane eventually climbs out of.

EDIT: We lost Paul Jennings, as Tom Struthers was promoted. Jennings may not have been perfect, but he was better than this.

I actually didn't realize it was a different fight choreographer. That makes some sense. It's definitely wonky in places, but it doesn't seem to bother me as much as it does others. Probably because I'm a very audio-oriented person. Meaning watching a gif with no sound looping over and over again is a very different experience than watching a scene play out in context, with sound effects and score, etc. All of that really goes a long way in selling the illusion of what's happening on screen for me. I mean to be honest I never noticed any of those goofs before they started getting posted here ad-nauseam as gifs.

Eugh, that whole fight was so poorly choreographed. Slow, clumsy and awkward.

Wasn't there a new guy in charge of the choreography for TDKR?

That's how good the story and characters were. It made everything else less important. Sure, it has bad choreography, and it is an action movie, so action should be important, but in this case, it really doesn't matter that much, that's why the movie was so successful on all levels. And a lot of these mistakes people talk about...you gotta be a little obsessed to pay attention to them. Hell, you gotta be more than obsessed, because obsessed is what i am, and even i didn't catch most of these flaws all by myself. And i bet most of you also didn't. Let's not talk about sickness, in order to not to be offensive, but man, you gotta be a strange person if you really pay attention to what an extra is doing in the background of a Batman fight, especially if it's dark.

Hah, yeah. TDK Rises has as many comic references as the best of them.

Also, in Knightfall Robin is captured and brought to Bane in the sewers - just like Gordon in Rises. He also escapes by falling down a stream. Plus the whole tagging bat logos from No Man's Land is an infuence.

I started re-reading No Man's Land from the very beginning several weeks ago. So great.

I really believe some people watch the movie so many times that some of those viewings have the sole purpose of paying attention to the background.

And then we have those who basically ride on other people's "discoveries" and try to use them in order to make an argument about how flawed the movie is, even though they weren't able to spot those same flaws by themselves. They just read it only. Those flaws are so bad that they only started to bother you once someone told you they existed.

Try to pay the same kind of obsessive attention to ANY other movie and you will find tons of interesting flaws too.

You know a movie is outstanding when you see way too many people talking about stuff like the extras in the background. You really have to dig deep.

I agree. There's a couple of people I've seen on here who call it the worst CBM. Now I try and respect all opinions, even the stupid ones, but that one is just insane. No logical argument could be made for TDKR even being a contender for one of the worst CBMs let alone the worst.

Exactly. I guess some people often feel the need to exaggerate to express their distaste for something they don't like especially by comparing it to something else that they do and even use double standards to try and prove their points. Of course it's all a matter of opinion but there are certain qualities that one can't deny even if the movie is not his cup of tea and like you said it feels kinda silly having it at the same level as some abysmal superhero movies we've seen all these years.

It's only a brief moment, but I do really enjoy it when Bane arrives on the rooftop during the Batman/Catwoman team up. Walking forwards like a boss clutching his jacket, and staring at The Bat as it takes off. Sizing up his enemy. I've always appreciated the feeling of inevitability it has. Batman is escaping now, but he's not going to later. His technology won't mean anything.

It's a great moment. I always liked them glancing at each other on freeway, too.

Chills. I love that whole scene with Bats and Cats flying away too. It's the one moment that could have been in a Burton Batman movie or something like Bladerunner. The music, Batman not talking, Catwoman scared but impressed. Imagine looking out your window that night and seeing that hovering between buildings lol.

So, do you guys think Bruce eventually accepted the truth about Rachel choosing Dent over him or do you guys think he spent the rest of the film subconsciously refusing to believe Alfred when Alfred told him the truth?

Well i always took it as, Bruce believed him by the end of their conversation when Alfred said he wasn't lying, he was telling the truth. That's when Bruce said "you expect us to shake hands now?"

I think that's why he gave in to Miranda scenes later.

I don't think Bruce ever doubted him. He simply didn't like the reality that was being presented to him.

I definitely believe that Bruce accepted that Rachel chose Dent and that is why he was able to move on and live a happy life with Selina.

If he didn't believe it then his world wouldn't be destroyed.

It always reminded me of the flying scene with Lois Lane in Donner's Superman. Kind of Nolan's own spin on that type of sequence. And there's definitely some Blade Runner there with the design of the Bat being reminiscent of the spinners and the way that the city looks at night with the fog. There's usually a little bit of Blade Runner mixed in every Nolan film.

The truth was hard to accept, but ultimately it set him free.

I also thought Talia was deliberately seducing him when he was at a vulnerable low point because that's when it would be easiest. The way she picks up Rachel's photo and asks who she is. I think she knew exactly who Rachel was to Bruce, and what happened to her.

I got the same exact impression from that scene. Especially with Catwoman looking out the window in awe. It definitely felt like Nolan's tip of the hat to that sequence.

It's really a gorgeous sequence. I freaking love The Bat.
