LOL grow up Phantasm.

I still don't see a point in a forum deathmatch, but okay. Have fun.

It's just an excuse to diss me over and over for an entire thread, probably. :hehe:

They're welcome to it. As long as they're having fun. It means nothing anyway.

Because I placed a rule where you can nominate Hypesters. Only one the ones with the highest nominations get in. It evens the playing field and makes things a lot more interesting. :batman:

Well Kane isn't a troll or the malicious type, so I believe what he says there is genuine. Can't speak for who ever nominated you though.

But kudos to you for taking it so nonchalantly.

No harm done. Unless i start seeing some major insults or something, but so far it's just a bunch of dudes havin fun so it's all good.

I have no doubt that im losing that round haha.

I love TDK but I hate when people try to copy it. Usually ends up being a poor imitation.

Examples of when that's happened?

You mean the highly critically successful, billion dollar grossing, huge fan and audience favorite Skyfall?

Sorry don't agree, and don't see how it remotely comes off as a poor TDK imitator.

I wouldn't call it a poor imitator because i like the movie. It's no Casino Royale for me, but it's still one of my favorite Bonds. But it does steal a LOT from TDK. It's not very original and im sure Mendes would even admit that he borrowed a **** load from Nolan's Dark Knight. I wouldn't be surprised if Spectre has moments lifted from Rises.

Skyfall is a favorite of mine too. Not sure why you twisted my words into some bizarre absolute.

I'm referring to a particular sequence of scenes in Skyfall... the weakest part of the film, which is a poor imitation compared to the parallel sequence in TDK

Apart from the blatant villain gets caught on purpose, gets interrogated, and then has a lavish escape sequence, what else feels like it's stolen from TDK?

Nobody twisted anything. Your words were "I love TDK but I hate when people try to copy it. Usually ends up being a poor imitation." I asked what movies you meant, you said Skyfall (and it was the only example you gave). You didn't specify only one particular sequence in it or anything. You just named the movie as a whole. So how else is one supposed to interpret this answer when you just name the movie as your answer for a poor imitator? Am I meant to read your mind and know you only mean one part of it instead of the whole movie?

You could try charitably holding a conversation, and maybe not immediately assuming the worst about someone's opinion. I was obviously referring only to the copied parts, not the film as a whole. The entire film was not a TDK imitation. I mean, duh.

If you're not a mind-reader, then here's a tip: don't try to read my mind. Especially since you seem to always read it wrong.

http://cinematiccorner.blogspot.ca/2013/03/visual-parallels-skyfall-dark-knight.html

Here are some visual parallels. Some are reaching, no doubt, but the similarities are there. But hey, i can do the same with Boogie Nights and Scorsese's work (especially GoodFellas). It doesn't make Skyfall any less of a movie, but the influence is strong.

If anything, watching Skyfall just makes me want to watch TDK more.

The only legit ones are the Silva/Joker capture/escape ones.

The others one are clutching so tightly on straws that their fingers must ache. I mean really ones like Bond standing on a rooftop, driving his Aston Martin, kissing a woman, taking a drink, wrecking his vehicle, a building blowing up, helicopters in the air, a ship sailing in the sea etc are all things you can find in countless other Bond movies.

I'm not assuming the worst, I'm taking your response for what it was, not what you intended it to be. You were not obviously referring to anything. You just said Skyfall as the answer to being a poor TDK imitator. If you only mean specific parts of it then say so. Otherwise just saying the movie means you're referring to the movie as a whole.

I didn't try and read your mind. That's what I said I would have to be able to do to know what you say you intended your answer meant.

It's not my fault you're bad at verbalizing what you really mean.

Sorry. I assumed you were familiar with the parts of Skyfall that copied TDK. I'll know to spell everything out for you in intricate detail next time.

I am. That's why I wouldn't call Skyfall a poor TDK imitator if someone asked me such a question. I'd just say a particular sequence in it is similar to it. Not just say the movie's name which is the answer you'd give if you meant the entire movie.

I'll know to spell everything out for you in intricate detail next time.

So you'll actually say what you really mean next time. Wonderful.
