The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - - - - - - - Part 156

Amazon UK.

There is this Batarang Special Edition version that I was thinking of buying but it's pretty pricey and I too don't love the movie as much as the Nolan and Burton ones to invest that much money in right now. I still might do it at some point, since it was still a very solid Batman entry and I'm sort of a collector.

I'm also not as in love with The Batman (2022) as the Nolan/Burton films - so I'm with you on not wanting to invest too much cash into it.

I was really letdown by the 'Batarang Special Edition' when I saw an unboxing video. I was under the impression it came with a batarang replica - but it does not. The steelbooks are nice - but not worth the price.

I opted for the Best Buy steelbook for the film with no regrets.

Here's an unboxing video of the 'Batarang' steelbook, if it'll save you some money.

Damn, that was underwhelming and misleading. Thanks for the tip.

Damnnn those collections are nice, never have seen those before.

I do think they did a pretty nice job with the Collector’s Edition Blu ray set from a while back. I probably own too many copies of the trilogy already though lol. DVD, Blu-ray steelbooks, Collector’s Edition set, 4ks. It’s too bad the 4k artwork is kinda blah, these versions are so much nicer. Europe seems to get all the nicer stuff when it comes to physical media.

I got the best buy steelbook of The Batman as well. I like the film, but don't love it so I wasn't too picky about which version I got. That said, I'm generally hesitant when it comes to steelbooks. I like having them, but they can get expensive. I have steelbooks for The Batman, Indiana Jones collection, Bram Stokers Dracula, 3:10 To Yuma, and Hellboy, but that's about it. The only steelbook I'll be getting in the foreseeable future is for The Dial of Destiny to go along with the other Indy films.

I actually just like the regular poster artwork better for The Batman than the steelbook art so I was fine with that. But yeah, they can get definitely pricey so I'll grab them here and there but nothing I'm consistent about. I recently picked up the Pulp Fiction one cause I just loved the design.

Hot damn though, those editions for 89/Returns/TDK Trilogy are gorgeous They need to do an official US release. I'd probably quadruple dip (or whatever I lost count lol) and consolidate the collection for that.

I already have TDKT in 4k and the special edition blu-ray. I’m not sure if I can justify triple dipping, but boy am I tempted haha.

I'd definitely triple dip for those new editions of the trilogy haha.

on another note, 15 years ago today we lost an immense talent. I'll never forget the day I found out.

It feels weird to be older than ledger was when he died. I'll be turning 30 the end of the year and its just a shame Ledger wasn't allowed to have all those years ahead of him. So damn young.

Yeah... aside from the tragedy of what movies/we the audience lost with his passing, it's just horrible for anyone to die so young, for any parent to have to bury a child. A total injustice all-around. I think if you're looking for a silver lining that will always be that he gave one of the most legendary performances of all time as a parting gift.

Crazy to think that at 15 years, there's now a whole generation who has grown up knowing and loving his Joker despite being born after his death. Says it all.

Still remember that day... can't forget the shocking after the news dropped. R.I.P. Heath.

I actually like this batarang edition haha, it's a shame here on Brazil those special edtions are imported and so damn expensive... I was looking for an 4k blu ray for The Batman, but it's around $67.
I love this movie more and more with every view, specially comparing with the generic cbm movies we always got. My issues are with the script and the pacing, those required some refinements, but otherwise, it's a masterpiece technically and an amazing dive into Batman's essence, how he thinks fear and violence is the solution for Gotham and how his mistakes makes him grow and change to something better. I can't wait for the sequels.

The first half of The Batman is great. Second half has gotten worse and worse for me over time. It's a 7.5/10.

I agree about the second half needing some better pacing, specially after Riddler's arrest.

Starting to feel like we didn’t give her a proper chance as Catwoman.
I felt that at the time. Really wanted her to get a proper shot in a subsequent film. And yes, these definitely add to the body of evidence. :cwink:

Didn't help that her story was pretty much done once Bane takes over the city...

She receded into the background at that point, other than in the final set piece.

High praise from him. Spielberg's complimented the Nolan Bat flicks before. I remember a few years ago he called the trilogy beautiful art films.

He's right, of course. But sadly the Academy was too snotty back then to even consider the idea. To this day, I still think the only reason Heath won was because there was so much public pressure to do so.
