I love what Wright is doing and his partnership more with Pattinson... while Oldman/Bale felt more like a mentor (father-son) scenario.

But, I'm still baffled we had the chance of getting Oldman to represent Gordon on film. He's literally the most comic accurate casting of all time.

Agreed. I really do think Rises is overall the best shot of the three. There are great and iconic compositions in the other two, especially Knight, but there is such a grand scope and scale to what they did, bolstered by the gray heavily contrasted color grating. It feels larger than life.

But, I'm still baffled we had the chance of getting Oldman to represent Gordon on film. He's literally the most comic accurate casting of all time.

Crazy thing about it is it felt like a bit of a left field casting decision at the time. He was so typecast as a villain. Somehow, stick a mustache on him, and it was instant magic. Oldman is a total chameleon and the secret backbone of those films in a lot of ways.

I love this moment so much. The way the music swells just as Gordon's face lights up with hope (or would you call it happiness?) is just *chef's kiss*. This trilogy understood his and Bat's relationship.

This film gets better and better with each rewatch. The more I watch it, the more I realize it’s a very fitting, near-perfect ending to this version of the character.
I think Batman as a character has been done ‘better’ elsewhere, but I think this version worked perfectly for this world.
My only wish of this franchise is that we got more Catwoman. I think Hathaway absolutely killed it. She was an unconventional choice and I think she pulled it off perfectly.

And the casting in this franchise. Just wow. Bale, Oldman, Neeson, Elkhart, Hathaway, Hardy etc etc. Just phenomenal.

Bale was wonderful in the role and I think he was a perfect Batman in Begins

I think (don't quote me on this, just my perception) that comes from Keaton loyalists. One thing I realized a long time ago is that while Heath Ledger is my favourite live action version of the Joker, he was great for the interpretation of Batman he was created for. If you swapped him with Nicholson and vice versa, neither depiction would work. It's the same with Hathaway's Catwoman in relation to Pfeiffer's. I prefer Hathaway's version because she's not (IMO) effectively a walking BDSM stereotype, but again, that latter version works for a Burton film.

I grew up with Pfeiffer as Catwoman and I'm slowly becoming okay saying 'Batman Returns' is my favourite Batman film (I feel like I'm betraying my boy Nolan if I say that, but) - but I also love Hathaway's Catwoman, too.

I wouldn't want a repeat. Hathaway was believable, nuanced, and fit this version of Batman so well, arguably more than Pfeiffer fit Keaton's.

You're right though - no reason to be a loyalist to anything when everything works within its own film.

To me the Batman movies where Batman/Bruce feels like the focus the least are Returns and B&R. TDK is still very much ABOUT Batman and his effect on the city, not to mention it features some peak Batman moments-- TDKR is clearly a Bruce Wayne-focused story much like Begins and all three films are centered on making clear, definitive statements about Batman in each stage of his journey.

All Batman movies are ensemble pieces to some degree though. That's part of it. It's a rich world with great characters. And too much Batman can get a bit one-note, if I'm being totally honest. The rogues can add so much flavor and are kind of designed to get a lot of spotlight. They're all a means of exploring themes and and aspects of Batman's character anyway.

Getting sick and tired of people saying Batman isn't the focus in TDK and TDKR.

He may play a tad less in the second film and Heath Ledger's Joker does steal the scenes he's in, but Bruce Wayne is the emotional centre of every movie in the trilogy. And the third one literally has the most layered and in-depth iteration of Batman in any medium. People confuse in-costume screen time with character focus.

OMG. I'd totally get these if they were released in the US. I own every batman film from 1989 to The Batman in 4k. The Nolan trilogy deserves a beautiful set like that.

As much as I am just okay with The Batman (I was super anticipating it, but I ended up liking it but not loving it) I'd love if that film got the same treatment.

There is this Batarang Special Edition version that I was thinking of buying but it's pretty pricey and I too don't love the movie as much as the Nolan and Burton ones to invest that much money in right now. I still might do it at some point, since it was still a very solid Batman entry and I'm sort of a collector.
