Considering they've taken Sony's lead on pretty much all of the changes they've announced since E3, that wouldn't be surprising

A re-introduction is definitely needed. What the Xbox One is has been in such flux since it was announced that it just looks like a hot mess of a vision.

I don't expect a Kinect-less SKU, they are all about Kinect as a device and it's one of the few differing factors between the two consoles. Having it in the box allows developers to work with it, taking it out will cause most developers to ignore it like the currently do with the Kinect.

If Microsoft reduce price to $399 as well then they've both lost an absolutely massive amount of income for almost no gain. These guys never studied game theory or played chess before I guess. If they both launched at $499 and moved to $399 when that premium demand was satisfied they would have both won. Sony should only have priced that low if they were confident (as looked the case for a long while) that Microsoft wouldn't follow suit.

Microsoft have had an absoutely disastrous few months but this reintroduction is what's needed as long as they have people with the skill to make the most of it...no more Don Mattricks. If they equalise everything that can be equalled with the PS4 it will come down to the games.

I could see it happening afterward, if sales end up sluggish against the PS4, but I can't see them doing so before launch. If they would, it would've been part of the "180" turn with all the other policies.

I think Kinect 2 is too important for the XB1 to not make compulsory. If it's really as good as Microsoft claim they need to properly show this at the reintroduction. Otherwise they need to take a big hit on it and reduce the price even with the Kinect included. A $20 Kinect doesn't sound so bad compared to a $100 version and the Kinect haters might even start giving it a chance. I could understand if the thing had an anticipation level similar to the Oculus Rift but in fact many gamers hate it based on their impressions of the 1st version so big steps are needed to change that perception.

actually, I don't mind them bundling the Kinect with the X1 for the $500 price.

it's the mandatory "Kinect has to be plugged in for the X1 to work" that bugs me.

if I don't want to use Kinect, I should be able to simply unplug it and pack it away in the box. sure, I'll be missing out on some cool new features, but that should be my choice.
