The Xbox One

Call me narrow-minded, but IMO, anything that a gaming system does that isn't directly related to gaming is a gimmick.
You're not narrowminded. You're just an old-fart. :oldrazz:

It's like when sound-movies came out and people were in an uproar saying how they were called "movies" and that it was just about seeing moving pictures, and they called it a gimmick to have sound over it. Like your comment about the iPhone. Technology evolves. :P

I'd say if it's not polished or if it's half-assed or doesn't make anything any more simpler (like current 3D or even iLife) then it's a gimmick. If it's well rounded and serves a purpose that legitimately helps the consumer, it's worth keeping. Kinnect 1 was a gimmick I'd say, this is actually pretty impressive.

It is quite possibly the most ugliest console I have seen since the first PS2.

The graphics of Call of Duty: Ghosts do not impress either.

The more I see of it...the more unsatisfied I am. I'll probably just get a PS4.

See how it works for real before calling it impressive. People thought the Wiimote and first Kinect were impressive at first too.

Looked pretty awesome graphics wise to me....

To me it looked like the latest CoD, just with improved lighting and effects. I know the graphical jump gets less and less impressive with each new console generation, but the graphical leap in CoD: Ghost just seemed utterly unimpressive.

I understand some disappointment, but how are people already picking sides? Wait 'til E3. The EA gameplay was nuts. And remember, Watch Dogs is also a X1 game, and CODG is also a PS4 game not really a point for either CONSOLE so much as their dev's.

So, backpeddle or not, this raises another question, how are they going to handle used games again? Games being tied to one account on install will still make used games useless. With the fee, atleast that copy can be used with multiple systems. If this ties in with a deactivation system, it might mean for that copy to be played elsewhere the original owner will have to deactivate his ownership rights first. Which is even more confusing, a bit more limited, and still bad for used games. Not that I supported the fee in the least in the first place. I'd rather they just have left the used games stuff alone altogether personally.

Microsoft really needs to get out ahead of this and clear all of this up before E3. The way they continue to phrase things makes it sound like they're trying to cover something up out of fear of backlash. Yet everything they say to quell the current backlash ends up mudding the waters even more. They basically confirmed one of the most negative rumors, then said, "Well wait, it's not that, but is, just wait".

The mic will always be?

Man, this is going to drive conspiracy theorists nuts.

Too invasive. I don't understand why they would design something like that.

Well, I get the idea behind it. If the microphone turns off, when you turn off the console, you won't be able to use the "Xbox on" command. The only reason this bothers me, is that Microsoft basically tells you "This is how we want you to use the console." There should be an option to turn off all functions of Kinect entirely, if you don't want to use them.

Just think of all the family arguments you'll hear on Call of Duty, as the player cries about how everyone can hear them :csad:. It's bad enough when people put the microphone in their mouth and start eating and drinking so loud...disgusting, lol.

See if the Xbox One or indeed the PS4 has keyboard/mouse support for games. I would buy one on release, particularly for Call of Duty (even though I'm no longer a big fan of the series) simply so I could play with my brother.

If Microsoft & Sony wanted to deal a death blow to Steam they should install keyboard/mouse support for their consoles as with the volume of players playing on consoles it would certainly be very appealing.

Because it's so difficult to reach over and press "Power"....

Just a couple console generations more...

:lmao: I guess we've gotten that lazy then, huh?

I think using the controller to power up our systems is just fine. They could have left it at that.
