so, Mike Ybarra put out a tweet the other day saying that the Xbox One Blu-Ray app will soon "upscale" to 4K for those with a 4K tv.

it's not clear if this is for the OG Xbox One or for the X1 S.

hopefully, it means the S will be able to upscale regular 1080p Blu-Rays to 4K like it should.

It wouldn't make much sense if the OG X1 could do that but not the S.

would really love to play those games again, especially DAO.

maybe it's just me, maybe it's my new router, maybe it's the update, but overall, the S does seem a bit faster. the downloads do seem a bit faster and the UI navigation seems to be a bit faster and smoother. Hope it's a positive sign of things to come - so far, so good!

oh, and they FIXED the 1080p Blu-Ray upscale problem!! 1080p Blu-Rays now upscale properly to 4K!!

I can now watch Arrow in all of his upscaled, scarred, muscular glory!!

I'm sure the Dragon Age games are on the list to eventually become BC. They're big enough games and it's an ongoing series with Inquisition on the X1 so I'd be surprised if they don't get added. This is the kind of thing that would be good for newer gamers too when they play a game from an existing series and want to check out the previousones without buying any more consoles.

That's how disappointed I was with the Pro. It drove me back to the X1. I had no choice.....lol.

also, since my old router was having trouble and had to be replaced, I started to suspect it was my router, and not the console, that was causing the networking problems from before. Hopefully......knock on wood.

and, I heard that they were updating the Blu-Ray app to properly upscale 1080p Blu-Rays to 4k ( it works now ).

so, the issues I had before were removed and I could not resist the call to come back home to Xbox. To give it.....one....more.....chance.

And it must work out this time. It has to work out this time. I have no other alternative console. It all rests on the Xbox 1 S now.

Please Gaming Gods. I implore you. Let this Xbox be the one I get to keep and cherish!!

Yeah just saw it in the other thread. So did you trade in your Pro or are you keeping it? Also are you keeping your standalone 4k player? You have a fair few gaming assets to move around in case you need to get new stuff lol.

I will be returning my Pro, and trading in my PS games ( got to make way for the BF sales!! ) tomorrow or Wednesday. So, in effect, I'll have exchanged my Pro for the X1 S - and saved $100 in the process.

I will be returning my Pro, and trading in my PS games ( got to make way for the BF sales!! ) tomorrow or Wednesday. So, in effect, I'll have exchanged my Pro for the X1 S - and saved $100 in the process.

Hope it goes well. From what you'd said before I thought taking the X1 S back for the kind of issues that usually eventually get fixed to get 2 devices that combined did a similar thing to a non-AV enthusiast wasn't necessarily the best thing for you but you but by then you'd already pulled the trigger. t:

I hope it works out this time, too. I mean, I haven't really enjoyed this cycle of buying/returning consoles. It's also embarrassing to constantly go back to the store ( and discuss it here ).

but like I said, it almost HAS to work out this time - cuz I have no other choice or alternative. The Pro is no longer a viable alternative for me, and I'm not going back to the OG or Slim PS4 which have no 4K tech.

Anyway must be good to finally focus on enjoying a console rather than continually flip-flopping and not knowing where you're going to land.

well, besides Gears 4, I've got Forza 3, Diablo III, Dragon Age Inquisition, Ori, and Rise of Tomb Raider. Oh, and Master Chief Collection, Madden 2K17, and Killer Instinct that I bought digitally from before.

This BF, I'm hoping to pick up Skyrim, Recore, Titanfall 2, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and WWE 2K17 on the cheap.

I think that will be plenty for now. t:

Stuff like Quantum Break will have to wait till next year.
