exactly!! that what i was saying...they give it a B- and some gave it 3/5 which isnt great but its good but then decide to put the tomato meter at Rotten. Sounds like a very flawed system and should not even be considered a logic way to measure a films success. Even metacritic has a good, mixed, and negative format. much better than RT

How was a B- a rotten review? It's a B LOL..

Yup, this is making no sense. How is B- and 3/5 rating considered rotten?!

yeah RT system is flawed. They need it so anything from 3 above, or even 2.5 can ONLY be considered fresh.

you get C in school and it means you passed.

You get a D in school and that means you just passed. (at least over here.)

D's in college is basically failing because the grades will not transfer to other schools. C's obviously are poor even though you technically passed.. A B means you did well, not great but well.. So it should not rotten..

I understand the critic decides whether or not a review can be considered rotten but I still don't understand how a critic could logically put their review in the rotten category while simultaneously giving it a B- score. That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

This is exactly what I said... when it's a blockbuster movie, or big budget movie, or super hyped movie, the critics tend to be harsher... even if they don't like a small part, they can say it's rotten.. but if it's a regular movie, they are more forgiving... it's human nature...

That is moronic.. Just give it a C and call it Rotten.. You get a B in school that means you passed..

Even a C should be considered borderline passing. Good thing these people are movie critics and not teachers.

side note. anyone bought the score yet? how much is it and is it worth it?

I wish it would beat the Superman II scores.

How was a B- a rotten review? It's a B LOL..

Because these critics didn't pass their math class... they dropped out and decided to 'watch movies' and 'give their opinion'.... but didn't learn to add up their own scores....

Hello everyone! I am a long time lurker who popped in to hopefully talk some of you down from the ledge.

I am a movie buff and I have been reading movie reviews longer than I'm going to admit here. The one thing I have learned is that many of the critics are extremely biased and politically motivated. At times it is blatantly obvious...other times you have to read between the lines.

I stopped trusting them years ago. In fact, I'm am relieved that MOS is not getting stellar reviews across the board. This tells me that there is a better chance that I am going to love MOS! I rarely agree with the critics.

From interviews and early reviews, I have gleaned that there may be pro-American themes and underlying biblical references? If so, this is the kiss of death for some critics.

I have my tickets for Friday and can't wait to see this movie! I hope it blows the socks off of those that truly matter...the general audience

I think its gonna end up around 75%, which is fine if it does bank.
If we get a sequel will we really care that some critics didnt get it.

Deluxe, worth it. $18.

*RT functions the same for all movies, no point in nitpicking.
awesome thanx. getting it today but I wanted to hear from some fellow fans about it first.:yay:
the deluxe is in the case that we all saw correct? grayish silver with the \S/ emblem on the front?

I wouldn't put too much weight on those Reeve movie scores. They are compiled from very few reviews when compared to modern day blockbusters.

Well if they decide the rating then they shouldnt put a B- or a 3/5 and then say its rotten. Pretty stupid logic if you ask me. I was just saying that its dumb to complain about lack of story and bash a film but give Avengers loads of praise when it isnt that great of a story movie. Action wise yes but story is not there and acting was terrible.
It's quite common that grades are used in weird ways and different reviewers aren't consistent with each other either. I think it's easiest to look at fresh/rotten as whether or not the reviewer recommends us to watch the movie. But as I've said, reviews, box office earnings etc mean very little when it comes to whether you or I will enjoy it.

As for Avengers that's a much more character driven film rather than a plot driven one (Whedon specifically said that the movie is about the Avengers, not the events) so that might be it, but I neither can nor want to speak for anyone else. You're entitled to your opinion but I have a vastly different one regarding the acting there.

Looks like a nice school.

BTW, Nice to see some Spidey fans here.

haha well I guess it was, though the grades dont really mean anything to me as I didnt need to take GCSEs or A levels in the first place. :P

and good to be here! I here you guys dont see many of us on this side of the board.

D's in college is basically failing because the grades will not transfer to other schools. C's obviously are poor even though you technically passed.. A B means you did well, not great but well.. So it should not rotten..

Ah I suppose, like Pass, Merit, Distinction is equivalent to C,B, and A. still a B is definately a pass whatever equivalent sort of math you want to do.

pro-American themes and underlying biblical references
Those were in the first film already.

I'll take a victory through a flawed system over a victory outside the system. How else is there hope of changing the establishment then?

Besides it's just battling over pop culture not government.

For everysuperhero movie the critcs i think need thier comedy and deep romance.
I think that's why it's getting rating it has so far.
The story look strong enough folks,so don't fall for the critics non-sense.

There is noway that folks will enjoy superman returns over this.

Superman returns might still end up being a more developed story but not has interesting and not better and fun has this.

See their is difference.

welcome. thats a good point.

 Are you serious? If you dislike Avengers this much you shouldn't even step into a theater for MoS.

MOS has more story, talent, and acting than Avengers. I dont have to like Avengers to like MOS. I am a SUPERMAN fan if you cant tell by my username. I called Avengers like i saw it, doesnt mean I didnt enjoy it. I simply said that for critics to bash MOS over story but applaud Avengers is ridiculous.

Yeah, i'm bored of what your saying now.

Sorry, but I can't respect anyone who is unwilling to accept that Goyer/Nolan have any responsibility for the script/story that THEY came up with not being up to scratch.

It's utter blind fanboyism.

If you actually think Snyder is a great director/storyteller, based largely on Watchmen (shudder), then you are by definition a blind fanboy. I agree that theres plenty of blame for Goyer/Nolan AND Snyder, but you are definitely a pot calling a kettle black fanboy-wise. sorry.

Sup3rman81, sorry but i missed your review of MoS. Is it earlier in the thread? Just curious what your thoughts were on the movie itself.

IF, and I do mean if, Man of Steel stays in the mid 70s in the end of all things, then i'll be able to roll with that. But at this point it's not looking too good.
