I have to be honest... I never expected this somewhat middling critical reaction.
67% on RT. 58/100 on Meta Critic.
I will admit, I always had my reservations about Goyer and Snyder, but I was still hoping this was going to be Superman's Batman Begins.
I know it's still early days, but sometimes when this kind of stigma dust settles it can be hard to shake it off.
I remember when reviews started to trickle out for TDKR and they were all full of ecstatic praise. But then when the dust settled as you put it the mixed to negative reviews started to come out.
What I'm trying to say is that it's early days, and there's no need to panic yet as things can change quickly.
All this being said though, you shouldn't let critics affect your enjoyment of a film. I absolutely adored TDKR because it was exactly what I wanted (heavy focus on Bruce rather than Batman and the emotional trauma he's been through). Reviewers were critical about the very thing that gave me so much satisfaction from the film. So I know what I like and what I want from MOS and if it hits the spot for me, then that's all I care about to be honest (barring any unmitigated disaster that would stop a sequel in its' tracks of course).
