This tomatoes meter has quite a magic effect, the moods of some people are directly linked to it moving down or up. It's quite funny. :woot: Guys and gals, join me at the acceptance stage! :yay: Trust me, it's wonderful up here. You can be happy to have a great new (and best so far) Superman film and you don't give a damn about what that little meter says. :word:

It would be funny if someone decides to hack RT, and moves it up and down drastically just to see how people react..

Lol. That's the best part isnt it to be a fanboy. Worry as much as we want!!! :D

Haha, yea, I still have no doubt this Superman movie will absolutely rock. It can still finish around low 70's but most likely this thing will finish in the mid to upper 60's.

Well, finally saw the movie today, still need time to process and fully intend to watch it again this weekend. I can see why we are getting a few negative reviews from critics. I feel that it has flaws in storytelling and editing (probably due to cutting the film down to their desired length). Nonetheless, it's a great Superman movie, and by this I mean they got Superman right.

The action is just crazy good. When I saw The Avengers last year, I thought how is Man of Steel going to top this, and I can say that it did, it really goes all out. Anyway, excited to see how this all plays out at the box office.

I was hoping this movie was gonna be one of the "Game-changers", unfortunately it seems it's mostly standard fare. By game-changers, I mean

Iron Man
The Dark Knight
The Avengers
The Dark Knight Rises

I remember a few people discussing last year about how MOS will never be able to top the spectacle of the Avengers and how it will hurt it because it won't measure up. Well now that it did and provided just as much by way of plot, it's not good enough. :funny:

Too early to tell if TDKR was a "game changer". Though I doubt it.

When did you see the film?

Very hard to be a game changer at this point in the game when so much has been said and done but MOS is more of a game changer than The Avengers, IMHO. Avengers I don't consider a game changer because a team up has been done before (X-Men) and because MOS's action wipes the floor with Avengers in not just quantity but quality too. If anything MOS sets a new standard in those terms. But I know people say Avengers was a game changer because it had a 5 movie build up. Meh. Also don't see how TDKR is in any way shape or form a game changer.

I'd add Batman Begins to that list. It lit the way for the new trend and standard of superhero movies that have come out since it's release. As well as inspired many other franchises to follow suite and it's lead (i.e. Bond, Iron Man, MoS, etc).

It brought jack to the table, if we want to be honest with ourselves.

The Avengers fresh rating will give an ideal to strive towards. Man of Steel will race behind it, it's fresh rating will stumble, and it will fall. But in time, it's fresh rating will join the Avengers in the sun. :D (This is just a joke by the way.)

Action-wise, MOS looks like a game-changer.

The fight scenes in Avengers' I feel are very comic-y, in that it was intentionally made to look good in the movie, so much so that it sometimes feels slow and operatic.

MOS' action scenes however, feels very visceral, very gritty and brawly. It's no-holds barred superhuman to superhuman action. I am not a native English speaker but this is how I would describe it :)

Classic:

I don't like this RT score so I will find some other under-80% movies on RT which I like.

Or... "Every person is unique" argument.

I still think MoS will be a good summer blockbuster but nothing more probably. After all Snyder made 5 movies in last 10 years and none of them was really special. Maybe Watchmen Director's Cut but Moore's work is just too good to be destroyed.

How The Avengers was built up is definitely the main thing about it and I definitely consider that a game changer. There's a reason why DC wish they can do the same with JL. X-Men isn't nearly the same thing as that's always a group, while The Avengers have separate stories that also intertwine. It's something new.

As for action, to be a game changer in that regard isn't it movies like Transformers that should be breached if we're just talking huge action? Or do you think that MOS also managed to build characters better than The Avengers project and therefor made the action mean more?

G.Godfrey have you posted a full review?!!

How would you rank it with other superhero films?

Well, it finally provided an actual ending to a superhero story rather than just having that hero continue to fight crime forever in an open-ended type deal.

Agreed. But some people hate that because they feel Batman would never in a million years retire, he would be beating criminals over the head as an old man with his cane. :argh: It's funny how they don't see how much of a sad life that is, being Batman, and I guess they don't want him to ultimately be happy. <shrugs shoulders>
