Too boring and confusing with the non-linear storytelling. Which sucks because my daughter (9) loves Nolan's Batman movies.

Yeah, kids will like it as long as they can follow the basic plot. Kids love people punching stuff.

Two differing opinions.. well, i guess i'll have to let the kids decide... they seemed pretty pumped up about the movie...

BTW: I don't think they'll be able to follow any plots... they make up stories in their own minds (like i used to when i was a kid)... that's why i asked if it's 'boring'... because as long as it's got good pace, action, kids will likely like it (if it's not too violent)

What is it with people and pointing that out, also what is fact when it comes to this movie? Do we accept that the majority rules?

To me it seemed pretty obvious from the trailers that this would be a very serious and heavy Superman movie with not a lot of laughs in it.

Is the tone of the movie really that far off from the trailers? Or is just a case of what works in a 3 minute trailer doesn't work as well stretched across 2 1/2 hours?

As has been an ongoing issue. Greatest freaking trailer I have ever seen (MoS). One giant let down when I see the final product (regarding Watchmen). Maybe Snyder just isn't a good story teller. I thought Nolan would take care of that, but maybe he wasn't that involved. You got to be able to bring out performances and manage all the characters. He seems to come up short time and again. Someone like Whedon has a much better handle on things, even moreso than Nolan when it comes to juggling characters. If this is going to be the case, the guy cannot possibly be the guy for JL down the road.

I think the pacing is one of the biggest problems. Which goes hand in hand with how the story unfolds. but I can only say what I would do with my kids because I know their tastes.

Not bad. But yeah, her saying that Goyer and Snyder needs to go really ticked me off.

It's weird how she says that yet, praises how Lois is written aka Goyer. Just another example of a reviewer contradicting their own critique.

If your kids are pumped for it, take them to it. I saw Batman 89 when I was a kid and I loved it. They don't have any notions of what the movie should be and will enjoy it for whatever it is.

Also if a kid isn't interested then I wouldn't force it upon them.

Majority rules is all a bunch of opinion bundled up into one big mess. Which is why it's important to let YOUR voice be heard in the longrun, not Joe Schmo's opinion. So what if others didn't like it, it's yours that....

nevermind. Seems like one big circle right now. Things will become much more clearer within the general audience within the next few days. We're all going off of knee-jerk reactions to only a handful of critical chaos.

So, they're counting B-, 3/5 reviews as rotten, and now they're counting rotten reviews twice?

RT's really seem to have it all together! Way too much emphasis on the critical side of things and not enough open interpretation on how you the viewer is going to react.

It's been pointed out quite a lot of times by now that it's the critics themselves that choose whether their own reviews are fresh or rotten.

The double count is probably just a mistake as he wrote for two different sites and will likely be corrected. Not much to worry about as it's the final score that's what it's about, whatever it's worth.

I'm not even sure Lois was that well written. She shows up in a couple of places only because the plot demands it.

When good guys/innocents die en masse you've got some 'splainin to do

Agreed. Even if Star Wars handled it poorly (they didn't), that doesn't excuse every other film that also skimmed over the deaths of thousands.

I guess I'm just more cool with the aftermath potentially being talked about later with Lex Luthor involved. It doesn't bother me to think in terms of sequels.

I'll give you this: it would have been nice to see one shot of Superman grieving in the wreckage. Which ironically I saw concept art of from one of the official books. It shows Superman standing with his head tilted down on a train that's lodged in a skyscraper.

True, but as awesome as the Watchmen trailer was, it still reflected (perhaps too well) how overly-slick and stylish the final movie would end up being.

Obviously there are plenty of examples of trailers being better than movies, but at least as far as the TONE goes, I don't think I'll be too bothered if MOS maintains the same level all the way through that I see in the trailer.

From convos starting innocently enough with a lack of levity to a single line from sn extra all the way to the lack of recognition of those lost in the Battle of Yavin in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Criticize the camp all you want, sure it wouldn't date so well to today's cinema. But the story and characters were well developed and struck the perfect tone. That's where MOS seems to be missing with the critics.

I would rather watch donner's movie which executes the characters and story awesomely, even with its camp, over a superman movie that doesn't get the characters right and is bloated with overtly serious tones.

You're nostalgic, idealizing the past... Characters well developed, perfect tone? They barely develop anyone besides Clark and the campy tone of Lex, Otis & co was ridiculous, etc, etc.

The problem with a minority of critics is that they keep idealizing movies that were not that good to start with. MOS has its flaws, but it is better than most Superman and comic book movies IMO.
