In 2013, steel is stronger than iron, but only by the tiniest of margins...

Since he gave a positive review to IM III I take it he is hinting that MOS will be slightly better. :yay:
Cool, thanks.

I happen to like emotional connections with characters that are well written in a well structured story before they turn into CGI Gumby's for a 1/2 an hour.

And this is coming from someone who ranted against how idiotic the critics were and how they were just being wrong for the past 3 days.

that's bad!!! from a superman fan!!!

sorry to hear that.

Score is amazing as standalone. In the film it doesn't feel like it works. Mainly because of the editing.

HATED the cinematography. The "Pop shot" as I've dubbed it annoyed the crap out of me. And I'm talking about the quick zoom / jump cut. It was overused and broke the flow of the scenes for me. Only felt right when Supes was focusing in on something... so.... once. Also the handheld really bugged me, more so than in Nolan's movies (which is to say it doesn't in those movies).

The score is really good...
Blast! Cinematography is one of the main reasons I go to a movie. :cmad:

How dare you? :waa:

I can see the headlines now, "Critically unacclaimed Superman film opens with record-breaking weekend; General Audiences in awe, CinemaScore A"

Can you imagine how crazy this place would really get? The arguments would be intense.

Feel the same way about the score. Was overshadowed by the sound effects. Felt like an afterthought.

As one who has also seen the film, Zod's intention is vastly different than that of Luthor's in SR. But yeah, it is basically the same thing just done a little differently.
Thank you.

To the point where audiences will be asking, "why are they doing this again?"

I have a hard time fathoming that since the main threat isn't a giant rock growing out of the ocean but an actual alien takeover.
That isn't the point.

Anjow1060- how would you compare this to Batman Begins?
is it on par with BB, or is it less than BB?

That's a shame. I hate it when that happens, especially when the album is such a beauty.

It was when the convo started, unless I misread things. People were questioning why they would use that device again when it didn't work for audiences with SR, and my whole point was that it wasn't similar enough for audiences to notice/care. The connection is vague at best, imo, and nobody's gonna be going, "Really? Again!?"

If that's not what we were talking about in here, then my bad, carry on. :yay:

It's drowned out and chopped up. Doesn't sound the same at all especially the attempt at a crescendo climax. Fell flat and left me wishing for a solid, strong march.

Just said she was disappointed...highly so I'm pretty sure the answer to that is going to be in the very, very lackluster range. This thread is on a roll. The bashing is humongous. Can't wait to see more of it, lol...

WAY LESS.

In my spoiler review I posted this: (non spoilers)

"It's no secret that my favorite Superhero movie of all time is Batman Begins. Yes, even over the almighty Dark Knight.

That being said, I went into Man of Steel expecting it to be the Begins version of Superman.

WRONG-O.

That was my first mistake.

To be honest - in the end it felt more like the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern of Superman - without the comedy or whimsicalness of that flick.

And that's not a perk of Green Lantern or a requirement of Superman, more or less something that distinguishes the two films."

You seem to think the audience has to jump up and point and scream "Superman Returns did it". As if brain power isn't required.

The has little to do with the actual quality of the film. I agree than Hans Zimmer score is great probably some his best work but it is naive to think that it is going to save the film.

Dude, you did the unspeakable that happened in TASM Boards!!!

As far as the Zod / Lex connection from SR is a debate (isn't this supposed to be non-spoiler?)

I realized how effin similar they were in the car ride home and got really pissed about it.

Well, I don't want a march (I'm very happy with the music Hans wrote), but I'm sad to hear it gets drowned out and chopped up.

But you didn't think about it in the theater and thus it doesn't count.

I don't think that, and I also don't think audiences will make that connection and/or care.

i remember in SR time, most of the fans if not all defensed SR furiously even thought they were not exactly know how they felt about the movie.

getting just a little bit worry now... a little...

Dude, you did the unspeakable that happened in TASM Boards!!!

Only TASM promised that it would focus on his parents and how much that mattered to him and shaped him only for that to be tossed aside for the love story with Gwen.

Here they've promoted it as being the story of Clark and his parents and how important they are to him and it seems like they've come through in spades for those similarly looking for a film exploring Clark's search for identity. Hell, even Anjow's complaint about the first half of the movie being his search is a major pro in my books. In other words, the movie ASM should have been and promised to be. A hero's search for identity > the classic hero's search for a partner (develop that after his origins). :woot:
