No. Trust me, I'm not losing sleep over this.

Rotten Tomatoes is a pick & choose selection of movie critics, their rating of a film is completely meaningless to me simply because in the majority of their big film reviews they count like 100-200+ reviews. Then the viewer rating has like 200k+ reviews & in 90% of cases the reviewing percentages are miles apart.

So if say 500,000 people give a film a 80% rating & 250 people give it a 10% rating which review rating is correct?

All I'm saying is & this isn't directed to you in particular, but anyone that cares about RT's rating & lets other people's opinions influence their own, are idiots.

This statue seems pretty appropriate

No, that's an awful image

Right so what difference does it make on your own perception of a movie if a critic's opinion is negative of the film, unless your tastes align with that particular critic.

Don't let whatever score there is for this film be some sort of barometer on what to judge the film on or get depressed over it. Judge it on your own, see it for yourself and then you'll have your own reaction. Most of you have been eagerly anticipating this film then just watch it and see for yourselves if you like it or not.

Think for myself? You've got to be kidding.

All of this.

Ladies and gents, should the RT score reach the giddy heights of 95% overnight, or plumb the depths to 45%, it will not change a single trifling detail in the finished movie, or your relative enjoyment of it.

Just wait and see. Critics are not inherently creative, brave or individualistic, or they would not be critics. They tend to posit safe opinions, concurring with one another. You can trust or ignore 100 just as you can trust or ignore one. Furthermore, for every negative review there are 1.2 positive ones. Why focus on the former, when it is your own mind that must be made up?

Let's hope all the rotten reviews get there, so they can stop afterwards ^^

thats what i`m hoping.

Bad reviews give you more traffic than positive. Just check out a movie on RT. The most comments are unter rotten reviews sometimes up to 300. Positive have like 2-3 ^^ so in a way its smart to bash a blockbuster movie if you want traffic on your site. I dont say they lied in their reviews . I bet there are some problems with this movie.

This is so silly, we know that the RT score doesnt matter, and yet, we are just obsessed with it. I know it just annoys me when I see people saying "this movie has this RT score, so it's a turd, LOOK, IT SAYS SO".

I can't believe the RT review is worse than Superman Returns...Superman can't escape 70/80's nostalgia with critics? This doesn't bother me, but it can hurt how much legs this movie has...

Now, will the movie perform better than Superman Returns? Can Nolan name pull it through? Was the budget the same?

Wow. MoS is at 65% and This Is The End is at 81%.

And yes BB is far superior to the TDKR.

Indeed. At this point, I'm prepared to see it drop as low as somewhere in the 50's or 40's.

And even though we shouldn't listen to critics, it's not exactly uplifting when you're hearing several posters and regular fans talking more about how many flaws the film had as opposed to good things.

I'm weird with the dark knight trilogy, somedays I'm a BB person others I'm a TDKR person. They are all just so different from one another. Anyway that's massively OT...how bout that Hans Zimmer score ey?

Lol a positive and a negative keep simultaneously getting added.

you didnt quote me but i think you asked me so,

well of course i`m gonna watch it and judge it for myself. But until then the only way to get a reaction is to read reviews.

I read the positive and the negative ( of course not all of them ). I dont understand why it gets such mixed reviews when just a week ago the overall opinion was its THE BEST CBM EVER. Now it`s ... "meh maybe like ironman 3, thor and C A".

very strange. Its not like i wont gonna see it now if you were thinking that but i cant speak of others here. Maybe some wont see it now or wait for the dvd/blu ray release.

Not as yet, but unlike most people here I do take critics opinions into account when deciding what film I choose to watch coz frankly I don't want to feel as if I've wasted my money.

In no way did I feel Man of Steel would be a waste of money after watching it. In fact, I plan on paying to see it several times.

I've been a Superman fan ever since I was a little kid. I loved the Bruce Timm animated series, enjoyed the Donner films despite their campiness and obvious technical limitations, and did not care much for Superman Returns. For all of its flaws, I respected what Smallville accomplished with certain storylines and characters.

No amount of love for the character though would blind me from noticing flaws, the kind that make or break a quality product. There's plenty of Superman comics and various interpretations of the character that I have not cared for. And I certainly wouldn't pay to see a Superman movie again if I wasn't extremely impressed.

I think it's because the mood and atmosphere on the board has become very negative, and that seeing negativity brings more negativity I guess.

4 Top critics (Claudia Puig, Kenneth Turan, Glenn Kenny, and Richard Corliss) have all been added to RT and they are all positive. Also, James Berardinelli hinted on twitter that his review will be positive as well. Its possible that MOS will do better with the top critics than we have thought so far. :yay:

People always focus on the negative, no matter what we're talking about.

I'm getting impression people are turned of from the high degree Christ symbolism...that's biggest complaint I'm seeing after lack of a 'cheerful/magical' Clark Kent. Christ is the Kryptonite to Hollywood.

As long as we have a sequel...I guess I'm good, they have to go Wrath of Kahn with it, without being too dark...apparently.

I hate this line from the Salon review -But while Batman is an isolated and peculiar rich man with human failings, Superman is a godlike being from another galaxy, created to inhabit the infantile fantasy lives of young children. Any attempt to invest him with philosophical depth risks becoming moronic and/or offensive almost immediately.

Oh wow, that's just sad.

Without spoiling how, I'll say that by the end there's definitely more of an opportunity for the "cheerful/magical" Clark in a sequel. Man of Steel is about getting to that point.
