A movie has to be "After Earth" levels bad on Rotten Tomatoes for the site to influence my actions toward seeing or avoiding it. Superman would be my only exception (possible Paramore pun unintended).
People need to remember than Nolan had directed 2 acclaimed (more or less) studio movies before BB and the latter was still met with lukewarm reviews. Again, relax.
PS: Even though Snyder's track record is defintiely shoddier than Nolan's. But still.
If Nolan directed it then it would have been high on the RT chart but Snyder directed it and critics are typical when it comes to his movies. 60-65% is his average. Nolan would be getting praised for its tone and action but Snyder wont ever get credit
Do you not think that maybe that's because Nolan is a hugely more talented film director than Snyder, not just because all movie critics decided to hate Zak Snyder for no reason at all.
I really hope I like this film but I was worried when it was given to Snyder as typically his films are all style and no substance. I enjoyed 300, but other than that I don't really rate him.

I have a hard time believing that people could go into the movie expecting something like Donnor's films. So long as this is on par with BB, I'm happy.
Having MOS so close to X-Men The Last Stand on RT (although it has nowhere near the same amount of reviews) pisses me off though I know it's not the same thing, but it's just weird.

Memento wasn't really a studio movie. And even Insomnia wasn't produced by a major studio, but by Alcon Entertainment, even though it was released by Warner Bros. Anyway, at least by the critics Batman begins was met with more enthusiasm than Man of Steel, yet it failed to lure in the big masses, especially in its first weekend and overseas. What made it a hit was the word of mouth, which surprisingly led the movie to take in more than 200 million dollars domestically, and the subsequent success on home video.

So I was really getting myself upset about the RT ratings last night, thinking that it meant there was a strong possibility that I wouldn't like the film.
So I decided to do a search on a bunch of my favourite films/films i've really enjoyed just to get a bit of perspective. I feel ALOT better now )

There are probably many many more, but I hope this shows how utterly pointless it is trying to judge whether you will like a movie based on critics mass opinions
The funny thing is, many people right now are upset and puzzled about the movie can score such a low rating on RT.com, and how it's not fairing that well with critics, yet there's a possibility that the exact same people complaining right now could be very upset with the movie itself once it's released.
I am confident MOS will rake in the cash and assure a sequel. I already have told myself that as long as it is a fun action movie I will probably enjoy it. But in all honesty if it's not enjoyable I will be as crushed as Zod's hand at the end of SUPERMAN II.

@hopefuldreamer;Well...critics and the GA opinions actually matters if you want this to be the start of a succesful franchise, which is what we all want of course.
Movies that has really bad reviews generally doesn't have good legs, if that what's in store for MOS, you can forget about WB bringing other DC characters to the big screen.

That's nice, but really, there's not telling oneselves. A movie has to be seen in order to judge it. You may aswell convince yourself that you'll like it as long as it's an action-laden romp. But what if the way the action is portrayed doesn't do it for you. There's infinite variables, impossible to predict unless you've actually watched the movie.

You can't really compare it like that because if Nolan had directed it then it wouldn't be the same movie it is now and we can't know how that would have turned out. Even though Nolan likes Snyder their movies aren't very similar and I highly doubt critics give reviews based on the person rather than the work.
that is not true at all, even when Snyder was announced as director people feared critics would be all over this movie. Certain directors are acclaimed and others have a reputation. Michael Bay for instance will most likely get a negative reaction to his films from critics. Even if its good they will find some reason to hate it. The same with Snyder can be said.

^ To me, MOS had to be a masterpiece in order to overcome THAT big stigma of having to be old-fashioned like the 70s movie. So far, it doesn't look great. When a few "geek" websites like DenofGeek and Comic Book Resources give it 3/5 or lo, I start to sweat.
What is odd here is the "top critics" are not dragging down the score at Rotten Tomatoes as much as the 'mom & pop' critics. The top critic score is actually higher than the overall score. Interesting since that is typically never the case in genre films like this. It goes without saying MOS is getting mixed reviews across the board. I dare say legs for this feature are becoming bleak with other Summer movies poised to take aim at the top spot after this weekend. I wonder if MOS could actually make more money overseas this time since much of the character's American themes have been stripped here.
