Comparing it to Green Lantern, Ghost Rider, oh my, SHOTS FIRED

I actually saw a screening of MOS on Tuesday night and feel like the critics aren't being fair. They are actually giving this movie more leeway because it is Superman. If this was a lesser character with less history in the mainstream it would be more harshly criticized. As you can tell I was sorely disappointed. This wasn't the the Superman I thought we were going to get, just a steroid induced version of it. No character development and tons of action maketh not a good comic book movie. It's transferring the collective pages of that characters history and translating it to screen in a respectable manner that creates something worth watching. Nolan and Whedon succeeded in both regards. Though TA and TDKR have their faults, they're head and shoulders above this. MOS would be more comparable to say Green Lantern, the first HULK and Ghostrider (more style over substance). Whomever did the casting, great job! Whoever did the editing, my god!
Here's to hoping Goyer isn't busy on a JLA script.
Lets look at goyers screenplay record
At this point I'm kinda hoping it will be rotten. If I love it as much as I hope I will, it will be more fun being on the loving side.
screw the reviews! just make up you own mind about the film
a lot of these reviewers are crying that there's too much action, not enough humor, not as "good" as the Donner film, etc.
to be perfectly frank with all of you and i know i will get a lot of hate, i thought the Donner film is cheesy as hell. the only saving grace of that film is Christopher Reeve.
Just curious... what DID you think/hope we were going to get?

I think The Avengers get a pass because the film really earns all the action scenes. There's a lot of things happening that tell things about the characters, or refer back to something. It's not a mindless popcorn film, it's a cleverly written film and Whedon is very good at directing actors so the characters are fronted more than the action.Goyer is very very miss, but it sounds like he did a good job overall on MOS, I can understand how some would want more character and less destruction in the last act (haven't seen it yet), but if it's kickass action, I'm in, they probably overcompensated on the action to avoid the same complaints as Returns, and this is where Snyder shines.
I think the massive action in The Avengers is given a pass because the movie is good pop corn fun, that doesnt try to be more than it is, it knows what it is, even Whedon himself admits it's not a great movie.
I wanna invite all the critics to sign up for the Hype, open a private thread just for them and watch them debate.
It'd be interesting to see Peter Travers and like Rex Reed arguing it out. lol

It keeps jumping between 59 and 60%. Hrm.
That statement made literally no sense.

Although I'm surprised and somewhat disappointed at the low rating on RT thus far, let's not forget that the original cut of the film was longer.
Perhaps if we get an extended cut on blu-ray/DVD, that could resolve some of the issues people have with the film.
Did they not spend the entire first part of the movie exploring Clark as a character, through flashbacks of his childhood and his time in the arctic? I saw one review saying he doesn't even put the suit on until an hour in... which most people would probably complain about
And i'm a bit confused... we new it was going to be Zod, so how could you have gone in hoping for a New Villain?
Sounds a bit like you'd made you mind up about that part already...

Not quite. Being that it's at roughly 61% positive the rotten reviews will change the overall about 50% more than a fresh one. The higher positive it gets, the more each new rotten will mean and vice versa. It's just normal percentages. So is it for every two fresh, it goes up 1%, and for every one rotten it goes down a percentage?
I noticed the contrarian critic, Armond White haven't published his review yet (or maybe he doesn't wants to see it). It'll be hilarious to read, no matter what the verdict is.![]()

That's what I want in the MOS action as well, the characters meaning more than the action itself.
61% now!
Yep 65/41 the positive reviews are coming in now
