Maybe we should retitle this thread "only postive reviews and discussion".

Well... this *is* the review and *discussion* thread, so...

I wanna invite all the critics to sign up for the Hype, open a private thread just for them and watch them debate.

It'd be interesting to see Peter Travers and like Rex Reed arguing it out. lol

Maybe we should retitle this thread "only postive reviews and discussion".

If that be the case we may as well entitle both split threads as "ignorance thread 1" and "ignorance thread 2"

You know what?

I am now absolutely sick to death of reading reviews and bumming myself out. I am not letting this happen.

I was so excited, so chomping at the bit, and I want that back. I have to rememeber that I have loved ALL the footage seen so far, and everything i've heard so far. I have to remember that I think Cavill is gorgeous and charismatic, and that if they nail the characterisation of Clark (which no one seems to have complained about so far), then I am going to fall in love with that aspect alone.

I like action. Action is fun. The bigger the better, especially with superpowers, and especially with Superman where the best action we've seen has been in cartoons, and we've been begging for a taste of that in live action for years. I'm hungry for it :)

If the villain plot isn't great, I can deal. I mean, in terms of villains, i'm really waiting to see what they do with Lex... that's the one I want to rock people's socks off. But Shannon is someone I enjoy watching in everything he does, so I can't imagine finding his performance boring even if he's not a well written character.

If there isn't much time for Lois and Clark's relationship to be fully explored... GREAT. I'd rather have a taste that leaves you wanting more in the sequel anyway :) Most of my favourite on screen pairings are the ones that are teased out slowly. And she doesn't need to be a massive part of the plot, or have as much screen time as Cavill... she's a great character, but in an origin that mostly takes place before Clark is at the DP, this is one of the best ways she COULD be involved in the plot.

Etc etc, basically leading to NONE OF WHAT I'VE READ FROM CRITICS MATTERS!

The reviews from fans and GA oversea at the Man of Steel Facebook are starting to come in and are mainly all positive. Some calling it their favorite CMB all times... Now this is should lighting up this forum.

Rex Reed in The Observer:
Upstaged in every scene by flying puppets and computer graphics, he’s at the mercy of cornball writing, indifferent directing and the shadow of pretentiousness cast over the proceedings from start to finish by Christopher Nolan. Mr. Nolan already ruined Batman. Now he incinerates the innocence and humor of the Man of Steel, who registers more like a Model of Marzipan.

In all fairness, Mr. Nolan is only the producer, but hack director Zack Snyder is so under the influence of his dedication to style over substance that he seems to be receiving directions through a wire in his ear.
Christ, man! Why don't you go make a movie yourself and do better?! Who the hell are you to say these things? Critics sit in their armchair and judge others who create art. They create nothing. They're human wastes of space who couldn't make a movie half as good as the worst director in Hollywood! 99% of them are pretentious, faux-intellectuals who are entirely out of touch with the taste of actual people. Yet they feel they have the right to throw around words like "hack." Really, Rex Reed? What movies have YOU directed? As a filmmaker, I'm insulted!

Sorry. Just found this review offensive as an artist.

I count six instances. That means 60% of the time the audiences disagree.

You can try to look at it from a Fresh/Rotten perspective, but I'm not buying that. Anytime the critics and audience are more than 10% apart, they don't agree.

Fans liked Fast and Furious by 15 points more than the critics. That's significant. 28 points for Hangover III. Sure, you can say they both thought it rotten, but how rotten was vastly different.

So critics and the audience vastly disagree 60% of the time based on the small RT sample.

I guarantee you it will happen this time. Expect Man Of Steel to be in the 80s for audience. How bad do the critics look if it hits the 90s with the audience?

Um, no. On RT below 60% is Rotten, so there are only 3 films where the Audience said it was Fresh and the Critics said it was rotten. I didn't say the critics and audience totally agree. Definitely critics are harsher on films than the general audience, but as far as the tomato meter they agree in this instance 7/10 times.

We could add rainbows and puppies.

Done:

Like I said the right people are saying good things about this film

Yeah fellows, we should try to be more positive ! Honestly, I'm still as excited to see it, I'll check it out in 2D first, and then 3D to see if the conversion is good and if it brings anything to the table.

do we have a poll rating bar that show what us in the forum who have seen MOS think?

Review from GA @ Man of Steel facebook page... they are all starting to come in.
I've watched the movie and it was f-king AMAZING. I definitely shed some manly tears for some parts of the movie. It was SUPER AWESOME. Both the storyline and action were amazing. Oh and I'm not going to spoil anything to those who haven't watched the movie yet but there's NO POST CREDITS SCENE. There are some easter eggs during the movie though so keep your eyes open for them lol

Casanova, don't go on that field, it's dangerous :D It may be true, many critics have studied film but don't have the talent to do it, so they are critics, but that doesn't mean their opinion should be dwarfed right away. I'm a filmmaker myself, and I know I hate criticism, but you can't tell someone "f*** off, you have no idea what you're talking about, you're not capable of doing what I do", we might as well stop criticizing anything then ^^
