Yup. That's how I feel about some of my favorite movies. You should never apologize for liking something, just like you should avoid berating someone else who may dislike it.

I consider myself to be pretty lucky that I'm not too hard to please when it comes to movies.

Heck, I loved Battleship, and it's got a TERRIBLE rating on RT. And I know people will shake their heads wondering what's wrong with me when they read this. (and no, I'm not some dumb kid, I'm 36 years old and quite intelligent).

But when it comes down to it, I have way more fun watching movies than all you super analytical couch critics out there. So neener neener.

Man of Steel obviously has some OBSCENE amounts of epic action, and that's good enough for me. Can't wait to get to the theater!

My stresses right now aren't the negative reviews. I'm all for people owning their opinion. If you don't respect other people's opinions that are NOT trolls then this environment isn't for you!

That said, I'll be seeing this in 2 hours! I expect to love it and hope I do. My stress's are seeing everybody else's opinions and others who haven't seen it yet being bummed out before they've even seen it. That's annoying. Just can't wait to see it then talk amongst ourselves for everyone who HAS seen it so opinions like mine can hold weight.

I'm going in as objective as possible.

I loved the latest Star Trek movie too...only been able to see it twice so far....and I was there in the 60's for the original run. I've yet to understand this obsession some have with Rotten Tomatoes.

My dad watched it during the original run too. When I was a kid, I used to tape the reruns that ran at midnight in syndication and watch them after school the next day. My dad bought me a book with an episode guide so I keep track of them all.

I love the hell out of Star Trek. I couldn't be happier with the new movies and I'm ecstatic to see what JJ is going to do with Star Wars.

That's right, I said it.

I'll use RT if I'm on the fence about a movie...but for the most part, especially with movies like this where I'm seeing it no matter what...I could just care less.

Too serious, too dark, too much action not enoug heart, not enough Lois/Clark, Batman in Superman's clothing etc.

There are a ton of really positive reviews out there. Most of them just won't make it to RT though.

Obviously there are exceptions, but it does seem like the comic and scifi fans are generally liking it a lot more.

Perhaps because we're already accustomed to very different portrayals of Superman in the comics, and don't mind a much more serious take.

If that is indeed the case with this film, then there's your problem right there. Because the more successful comic book based movies are the ones which can appeal to a broader general audience beyond just the regular comic book reader.

Especially considering this is supposed to be the relaunching of the Superman franchise, in which the attitude should be "Get it right the first time" like it was with Batman Begins and Iron Man.

I hate this line. Shannon's Zod is not some gleeful comic book villain, but rather fueled by his conviction that he's acting in the best interest of Kryptonians.

Reviewers don't hate the movie. The bar is just much higher for Superman. As my comparison last page pointed out, Iron Man 2 only scored 0.1 higher on average, yet it's Certified Fresh. That's the problem with RT's dichotomous fresh/rotten scale. A Superman movie of comparably quality to, say, a Captain America movie is always going to score lower on the "freshness" scale because the expectations are that much higher for Supes.

I don't understand it completely either. The top 10 highest grossing films of all-time domestically, 9 out of 10 of those the audience disagreed with the critics by small and large margins... so there you have it.

As long as the audience loves it, whom this movie is made for anyway, who really cares what a paid movie critic thinks or says? But beloved fans will take the RT rating to heart instead of doing the film some real justice -- by going to the theater and seeing it regardless of what the reviews are like.

Most of them are within 5% difference, which is fairly negligible as the samples of critics contra audience are very different. A couple within 9%, which is a small but notable difference.

The three that really differ are Titanic, TF: Dark of the Moon and PotC: Dead Man's Chest. Funnily enough the Titanic score is actually 19% higher with the critics. The other two are rotten but popular with the audience.

Not that this really means anything, I just felt like looking at it too.

Isn't a supposed to general. Isn't is supposed to be hero of a now dying race. I actually not mind this take on the character as opposed to the rater one-dimensional dictator he was in the Donner films.

The reviewer is praising Michael Shannon's performance and the way that Zod is portrayed.

That's one memorable element in Snyder's second-half effects inundation. The other two are Shannon, as Zod, and Chris Meloni, as a U.S. colonel battling Zod and his team of invaders. The two actors share Mack-truck brows and an ability to rise above their material.

Good point. I feel like as much as I nitpick the Nolan trilogy, Chris crafted a Batman that's palatable and sympathetic to the general audience, unlike (and this isn't a diss, I love comics Batman) the colder, meaner, and generally less passionate and more disturbing Batman from the pages.

I feel like we'll finally get "comics Batman" in the reboot, but the GA will be less excited.
