TMOS Reviews Thread - Non Spoiler Review and Discussion - Part 7

This was one of the biggest dumbest movies I've ever seen. It's sheer meat head bafoonery making the weakest attempt to be something more but failing miserably. I can't believe this movie was even allowed to exist without anyone involved actually recognizing its grossly obvious faults.

SPOILER ALERT****

Sorry guys but I agree with Rotten Tomatoes. Here is why:

1. The pacing is very bad in the movie. Nothing builds. i.e.
The army detects Zods ship, Superman gets his suit, turns himself into the army, the army turns him over to Zod, they fight, the end.

Also, the movie is nothing but one giant fight!

2. Characters feel hollow.Lack of character development.

3. Scenes lack awe and fail to be grandiose! Superman exiting the "fortress" with his suit is a prime example! The trailers did a better job of creating awe!

4. Too much CGI! The movie feels like a cartoon.

I blame David Goyer. The script is very very weak. Synder did the best he could but in my opinion the script is weaker than super man returns. 6/10 for me.

Here are the good things about man of steel:

1. Henry Cavil is good as superman

2. The music is moody and moving.

3.Krypton was fascinating.

4. Russel Crowe

Just got back. Sorry guys, it was awful. I can't believe it. I'm almost embarrassed at all the things I said about this movie in retrospect. They dropped the ball big time. There won't be a sequel. There won't be a Justice League. And there probably won't be another Superman movie for a real, REAL long time. And I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this movie sours people to the character of Superman for a few years.

The trailer was selling a different movie. That's the movie I wanted to see. This was just... awful. I'm sorry to everyone I argued with in response to the negative reviews. Boy was I wrong.

I thought it was great. Maybe my favorite Superhero film, and definitely one of my favorite films in general. Right up their with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight for me.

What a dumb post whether you liked it or not if it makes money they'll definitely be doing a sequel. Justice Leage is definitely gonna happen at some point whether this film is a hit or not.

No, he just might be overreacting. I'm sure you're familiar with that :D

Uh, did you see it? This thing isn't gonna make bank. I'm sorry, the word of mouth is going to kill it. It wasn't good and no one in that theater was left wanting to see more.

I'm a huge, huge Superman fan who wanted nothing more than to love this film and yet I have no desire to ever see it again.

Funny, the people I saw it with liked it and the audience seemed to enjoy it. Lots of clapping at the end and great reaction to big and small moments alike.

that's weird. what r u actually looking for?

Critics on RT: 58%, Audience: 82%

This must be the most polarizing movie of all time... with over 24% difference...

You either totally HATE it or totally LOVED it!

I think the reason is simple: Too High Expectations... and the slightest issue with it, or, if it's not absolutely perfect, suddenly it's a fail... if this were any other movie, i think most of the 'negatives' would be 'positives'...

Did you get the impression your audience was lukewarm on the film? Everyone loved it my first time, but my second viewing the audience was kind of ho-hum.

Why wasn't that true with TDKR then? Not disagreeing with you, but I wonder why TDKR got cut so much slack when the movie had arguably even more nitpicks and flaws?

Like I said, people either HATED it with a passion, or LOVED it with even more passion... I have friends messaging me left and right telling me to watch it this instant.. a friend just told me he would watch it over, and over, and over again..

It's 82% approval on RT for audiences.. so, I think it'll definitely make bank...

My crazy 1B prediction may actually come true afterall... :woot::woot:

More polarizing critic audience ratio was the Hangover part III. 20% critics liked it, 88% audiences liked it.

I think someone said, it's all about expectations...

MOS may have the craziest expectations of all movies of all time... for 2 reasons:

1. It's Superman
2. The way the marketed it, like it was to be the perfect CBM movie of all time...

So, the slightest imperfection would turn it from a fresh to a rotten.. I think most critics would be more forgiving if it were not for the 'expectations'.. because most GA enjoyed it...

Take transformers... Although it makes tons of money, but people don't go around calling each other to 'watch it'.. they just watch it, because it's an OK summer blockbuster with tons of action.. but so far, with MOS, the people who liked it, seems to be crazy over it... So, I don't think it's as bad as the critics made it out to be.. at least it can't possibly get 'failing marks'...

Wow...I feel like the reviews and receptions from both critics and fans are so polarizing that I don't even know what to expect when I see it this weekend.
