I wanna see Man Of Steel because you can see the guys junk outline.

Lol well I guess, if that's what it take.

@LouisVanAmstel @dexterxdexter @Sherry_1013 @nikkizeglen Saw a special screening of Superman: Man of Steel! Great movie! Lots of action!

Frank Miller @FrankInStereo
Still processing my thoughts on Man of Steel. My first reaction was "I want to see that again." Take that as a good sign.

Is that THE Frank Miller?

It's kind of curious. Part of me thinks, hmm SR was so boring that they almost went over the top in the action in MOS to compensate and let people know, hey Supes can actually be spectacular. Then part of me thinks, hmm we can't just have mindless action bang em up blow em up, let's tackle the bigger issue, first contact, what it means to be human, etc etc. Can't wait to see it for myself.

Exactly. Right now reports seem to be pretty 50/50 on the action/story, but of course there is still the embargo, so we'll have to see. But I think at this point as long as it's a Superman story I've wanted to see for years, I can deal with a 60/40 swing (and maybe even a bit more) in either direction.

But that - of course - is why I just have to wait and see :yay:

I didn't know Superman was Captain Planet

I asked him, he said he was disappointed in the movie

If the action is too over-the top in Man of Steel, they probably looked at the reaction to the CGI/GREEN screen NYC battle at the end of Avengers. I remember everyone was like OMG!! CGI HULK!!! EXPLOSIONS!!! BEST MOVIE EVA!!!

Of course, the Hulk vs Loki bit was probably the best thing in the movie...even if it was stupid.

I want a 50 percent story,20 percent drama/emotions, 30 percent action ratio. :yay:

Superman premiere blew me away tonight! Thanks Alumni Snyder for the screening. #superman

I would also have no beef with that, as long as they make the 30% really count :yay:

It's tough to break up really. I want action, I want story, I want to care, I want to know the characters, I want to know what's going on, so forth and so on.

Heck just give me 20% of each and I'll make it work :woot:

I guess that's what people want to see...Demand creates supply in the movie business...Zack said it himself.

To me, story contextualizes the environment of the main players so that you CARE about the characters. The drama might not advance the plot, but in can be crucial in providing insight to how a character thinks and feels, and the ACTION resolves the emotional tension and suspence AND can build on the drama, in places. If half the film is plot, and the other half is action, I will be disappointed. I want two thirds character and plot (in that order), and the last half hour to be action and suspence. I want Superman to save one part of the world, only to realise that another part is in danger, leading into another battle. The final battle should be so personal and full of character, that you almost don't care what Superman does in order to stop his enemy.

Ok I am tired and going to sleep. we know the consensus tonight has been overwhelmingly good

Now we wait for critics

How are you guys finding all these Twitter posts about Man of Steel. Sorry I don't use Twitter. I'm guessing you do some kind of search?

I second that, critics are up next, goodnight and good luck.

In a 144 minute movie, 50% drama is enough... if they are able to tell the story/develop the characters well... too much, and you'll have plodding, slow moving... and too boring...

And action needs to be well planned.. not just free for all fights... like in Avengers.. it's just too much like Transformers... everyone one beating up everyone else all over the place... there's no suspence at all... no built up... nothing.. you don't feel anything in the fight scenes because there's nothing to feel...

I just want a Superman movie that has a soul and doesn't bore me to tears.

Unlike Superman Returns with it's never-ending third act.

Yup, twitter has a search feature. They just search man of steel and it brings up every tweet that mentions it (I think that's how it works)

^ The fight scenes in TA are fun, but that's pretty much it. You aren't afraid for the civilians, you aren't afraid for the heroes. It's pretty much a live action cartoon near the climax.
