Seriously. Stop and take 3 seconds of what you're complaining about.

Say this sentence out loud - "I'm upset because we don't know how Superman shaves."

You guys are acting insane. You calm down.

That's a really warped way of looking at it. You may as well say "it's the internet! Don't take things so seriously". It's equally as vapid.

Cryptic tweets from Devin Faraci.

When a movie is embargoed and you only hear positive things it isn't always b/c it's good, it's b/c studios won't crack down on positivity. i.e., the negative responses are waiting for the embargo to lift. And there could be many.

He has been championing Man of Steel as the movie to beat this summer, but many of his colleagues (and perhaps even he) have seen the film so he probably has heard many different reactions in private. Perhaps even more foreboding, @DiagnoisisKevin on Twitter asked him, "is this what happened with Iron Man 3?" and his response was simply "IM3 is great movie," perhaps implying Man of Steel is not.

This is a lot of conjecture at this point, but either way, I think people should be prepared to face the fact that this may not be a complete critical success, and to brace for at least some bad reviews.

- you apparently felt compelled to click on a spoiler drop down anyway despite being so apparently ardent against it.

I agree that I dont think much of this spoiler, but that's me personally. However his point is ultimately valid in that your initial question and final reply were untagged. You didnt have to hit the spoiler drop down to know both the question and answer.

And that is the danger. It's the slippery slope once you allow any tags.

I understand where you're coming from, but how I view this thread (which is in the spoilers forum) is people showing each other the courtesy of tagging the main parts and putting the responsibility on each poster to decide if they want to know.

For example, in this case leaving the question untagged was fine so long as any subsequent post had been tagged. They werent.

Another example, the reviews that were posted with info blocked off. Thats exactly it, provide the info and if someone wants to know they can highlight it.

It generally seems to be working, we can keep this organized and have a discussion, just be vigilant on the tagging and keep it to a minimum.

I actually had a tweet dialogue with him about that tweet as well. When I got into the clarification stage of it and mentioned man of steel he stopped responding. Which could mean something as well.

Oh man, I really hope Devin hates the film. That almost guarantees that I'll love it.

He has very specific ideas about what the superhero genre should be. He seems to really loathe the idea of self-serious superhero films. This is the guy who rated Spider-Man 3 higher than Batman Begins.

Knowing that me may not have liked it makes me feel better, honestly lol.

I'm with Stephen.

Or should we make another thread entitled 'TMOS Reactions - Seriously NO SPOILERS not even tags!' Thread, so that you guys can turn this one into just a repeat of the other and we who don't want to be spoiled can be safe?

We have had great reactions from a number of fans that we know are legit. I know of 2 people (Not on this forum) that are fans like me that gave MOS a non spoiler 2 enthusiastic thumbs up when I asked how it was. I can't see the film being much under 80% on RT more likely in the mid 80%. The footage looks too good and WB has been pimping this thing like they hit a HR..

There's already a place for that.

It's called the No-Spoilers forum.

Same.

I really dont get this, there is no way for the studio to ever crack down 100%. I dont doubt that there will be bad reviews and this movie wont be universally loved. But for truly bad movies they are embargoed AND not shown to the public or critics. That's not what is happening here, and the embargo lifts 4 days before the premiere, if it were horrible the studio wouldnt let that info out days before the premiere after hiding it all this time.

He did what? SM3 Fkn SUCKED! Goh I hated that movie. Well that says it all right there for me. Note to self: Ignore Devin.

All very valid points.

Sans the bad movies not getting shown. There have been screenings of "The Internship" in my area for the past month and that movie was sooooo bad.

Thanks for the support. I don't want come off like the squeeky wheel that gets the grease, as I thought my point was quite reasonable.

^ I agree. No major spoilers should be disclosed, and minor spoilers should be tagged ;)

I'm with them both. The title of the thread is non-spoiler and I don't care how important or how miniscule the tidbit it.

The fact is something about the movie was openly questioned and openly answered without spoiler tags. Spin it however you like and feel however you'd like about it, I don't care either way; end of the day it is still a fact.

I don't care about his "people hold embargoes to stop the negative" tweet.

I'm hoping a MOD comes in here and defends me with the same notion of "chill"

either that or just outright bans me forever because this is absolute lunacy.

2 reasons for the WB embargo - take them for what they are.

(1) We have another GL situation - It CAN happen, not impossible.

HOWEVER, the biggest fan and subsequet detractor, Drew Mcweeny, at Hitfx was truly enthusiastic and looking forward to watching a new franchise, UNITIL he saw it. He then criticised and did not hide his biter disappointment, refusing to let hs kids see it.

For MOS, Drew is still entusiatic and even brought his kids to meetsome of the cast / costumes. He LIKES (at least) this movie.

Besides, how bad could it possibly be, because we've had STID, IM3$, TDKR and TASM - all with glowing and toxic reviews.

Which leads to (more likely) scenario

(2) After SR, WB is hesitant / scared of critic reactions spoiling anticipation, so want to keep it under control for now.

Regardless of how confident WB is in the final product, MOS is the biggest risk they have. They have a right to be scared...

When does the embargo get lifted? Monday the 10th?
