Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin IS Superman - Part 2

Tyler Hoechlin & Brandon Routh To Suit Up As Superman For Arrowverse Crossover – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Last year, the CW’s Arrowverse annual crossover event introduced Batwoman, played by Ruby Rose. This time, the producers of the DC franchise on the CW are planning a big stunt involving one of DC’s most recognizable superheroes, Superman. Two actors who have played the Man of Steel, Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh, will both portray him in different time frames. The news is expected to be revealed at Comic-Con.

Both Hoechlin and Routh are already members of the Arrowverse — Hoechlin recurs as Superman on Supergirl, while Routh plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, a character he first introduced on Arrow.

Routh, who played Superman in the 2006 Bryan Singer-directed feature Superman Returns, will portray both Clark Kent and his Legends Of Tomorrow character. And as Superman, both he and Hoechlin will suit up, putting on the iconic cape.

It is not clear yet in which episodes of the crossover Superman will be played by Hoechlin and in which he will be portrayed by Routh.

There is a lot of room for some top-notch comedy with this news. Hope they really milk it. :funny:

It's going to be awesome to see both Tyler and Brandon playing Supermen.

I think Tyler's will be based on Earth-1 and Brandon's will be based on Earth-2 from the comics and the roles their Supermen will be playing in the Crisis.

Henry Cavill may be too expensive and Dean Cain is likely doing another project. Tom Welling is out of the question since he has no interest in wearing the suit.

There's a possibility that Brandon's Superman may be from Smallville instead of Superman Return since his suit was used in SV's final season.

I can see Bitsie Tulloch's Lois Lane being caught between the two Supermen more than Supergirl.

I would like to see a scene where both Supermen compare notes on their powers, origins, and their love to Lois Lane as well as having children.

Love the news that Routh is coming back.

My hope now is that we get Dean Cain as Clark, Teri Hatcher as Lois, Erica Durance as Smallville Lois , Helen Slater( reprising her Supergirl role) , and of course Tom Welling as Smallville Clark.

The first 4 actors have already appeared or actively appear on Supergirl anyway so I don't think it'd be as hard as one would think to get them.

The issue would probably be more of potentially of rights to use the Lois and Clark versions of the characters. Something tells me that wouldn't be an issue with Smallville but there could be with Lois and Clark :The New Adventures of Superman. I would assume at this point those shows would basically all be under the same banner legally speaking, but I don't know the ins and outs .

I take Hoechlin in tights anytime. I hope it will not the last time.

Wow, another Superhero to write for.....smh.

As I recall, the original COIE famously killed off a few major characters - including Supergirl :wow:. Now, obviously, this version of SG is safe. But I wonder if maybe Hoechlin’s Superman will be sacrificed instead (along with Green Arrow???)? Supes’ sabbatical on Argo temporarily solves a logistical issue for Supergirl. But his death would be a more permanent “solution.” :word:

In any case… if this “Crisis,” as is speculated, unites the various universes into one, then having two Supermen (Hoechlin and Routh) might be a tad awkward. Therefore, one or the other needs to go.

Some are speculating Earth 38 Supergirl is killed off and Earth 1 takes her place, I dont see this happening unless Chyler is leaving the show, the Danvers Sister relationship is too important to the series.

But...there IS no Earth-1 Supergirl? They established that in the Invasion crossover.

Imagine if it went down so well that a series spawned from it of Routh as Superman, with his son, in a new reality... rebirth almost!
I hope because Returns was supposedly the Donner universe, the original suit in some way makes an appearance...

While it's nice to hear Brandon Routh playing Superman again, we don't know if it's the one from Superman Returns, Smallville, or Kingdom Come.

Regardless I can see Routh's Superman being the one to die saving the universe instead of Tyler's Superman.

Not to mention that it may only end up being nothing more than a glorified cameo like how JWS's Flash was for the Elseworlds crossover.

If BR is reprising his SR role then he should technically be the strongest kryptonian on the show since none of the kryptonians on Earth 38 have been shown with the potential to life an island.:o

If anything, I can definitely see his character being one of the many casualties from this event.

I haven’t watched any of the CW shows in s long time but this interests me. I wasn’t a fan of Routh in SR, but he’s improved a lot as an actor since then and I think he could do a great job as Superman now. Just please for the love of God, give him a better suit.

Yes, many are saying it is Superman and Arrow are killed instead of Supergirl and Flash like in the comics.

If Superman and Flash die it will likely be Brandon Routh and John Wesley Shipp instead of Tyler Hoechlin and Grant gustin.

That would be bad. I wouldn't want a different Supergirl leading the show even if played by the same actress, as it wouldn't be the one we've followed all these seasons. In any event, Earth 1 doesn't have a Supergirl. But even if it were a different earth I still wouldn't want that.
