What I had heard was that if the writer's strike doesn't end soon, the actors will strike as well to support them.
or was it just Michael Bay kidding?

The only villains I think are worthy of screentime are: Lizard, Kraven, Mysterio, Scorpion, and cameo villains like Shocker and Rhino. Electro and Chameleon to me are alot like Sandman (thugs who can shape-shift.)

:indy:
Lizard and Carnage or Lizard and Scorpion are the only ones I could see. any other would brig flames to my world.
but I'd love to see Shocker in the beginning of the movie. you know...kinda like the 007 movies...they always have a cool action scene in the beginning.

But SM4's writer can go to work on the script at this very moment, right?

I'm getting greedy. :O
well...I just hope this really will be a Spider-Man 4

I wouldn't, put, Electro and Chameleon in the sam category as sandman

ok, I kinda get were you might think the shape-shifting verison of Chameleon, but, even thats a bit of a stretch

he changes his appearce to look like others, its not like he can turn his fist into a hammer, or can turn in to a 50 foot sand monster

and character wise, he is very different, anyway

Electro, ya, sure he's another, controls an element, type villain (electricity instead of sand) ok
but, still
there's a difference
but let us agree...
after the boriness of SM3's action portion of the movie, all we don't need is a villain like chamelleon. we need a strong villain, a villain capable of destruction, a villain who'll be a physical threat to Spidey, and maybe mental, too. and for this part I'd put Carnage or Scorpion.
about Electro...I doubt that he'll be in a Spidey movie until the first reboot within 10-15 years. why? well, because we have an Electro already in the FF movies.
I saw the movie again two days ago. Doom was using eletricity to take everyone down and was even absorbing the eletricity of the place. he's a lot Electro alike...and after Marvel notices what they've done...they'll know their mistake.

I dont think it ever should have gone to two villains, outside of NG being a villain and having a face turn at the end to help defeat some villain (Venom, Sandman, or anyone else) or their scheme. Things are so much smoother and cooler when a villain gets his own dedicated movie. Reducing the villains in SM2 saved it, and can you imagine Ock sharing the role with someone else? Still, I have confidence because if you are going to have two villains, thinking firstly about character would be the best way to go about it (Begins).

that was always one of my points in the Sony boards. also...Lizard has like 90% of chance of being in the next Spidey movie. the question is...who would be the second villain, cause I really can't see a movie all for himself.

Um... Kraven is the obvious choice.

Failing that, the only other guy who I can imagine them even considering is Electro, but that would be an ill-suited pairing.

Let us hope that it's The Lizard and Kraven, using pieces and bits of Kraven's Last Hunt as a blueprint, it makes the most sense. Hopefully the new screenwriter, James Vanderbilt, will take this into consideration. It practically writes itself.

you're kawkaw?

I'm almost positive that it will be the Lizard and Kraven. The type of stories you could tell involving those two is so very exciting.

Yeah, but what if he doesn't like or want The Lizard or Kraven? Just because we think it'll work, some writers/director may even find a giant Lizard-Man not screen worthy or too hard to write for.

Well if they can find a story for a giant man made out of sand, I'm sure they'll come up with something for The Lizard :cwink:

Besides, Lizard has loads of possibilities. Especially since we have Curt Conners well established in Peter's life now. It's pretty hard not to like The Lizard.

True, I see what you're saying. But this is a different writer, who's in control of what villain(s) gets used. He may find Scorpion and The Chameleon better suited for his taste in villains.

I don't know, ask kawkaw if he'd like to see an R-rated Spider-Man movie (with no catering to kids), if he says yes, then we are one and the same.
no, really

Well, since Vanderbilt really likes Spdiey, I'm sure that even if the Lziard or Kraven isn't in Spidey4, he still will pick 1 or 2 very cool classic Villians. However, I still think there is a better chance of the Lizard in Spider-Man 4.

I don't see how the Lizard can't work. But it's a given that the Lizard would work on-screen, flawlessly.

I don't know, the choosing of both The Lizard/Kraven is just too good to be true. It seems like the studios (Marvel/Sony) or the producers would have to step in and suggest such a combination. What are the chances that Vanderbilt would pick both The Lizard/Kraven out of all of Spidey's villains, think about it?

I guess it depends on what theme they use for the movie, too. And what villain or villains best suit the theme.

I think The Lizard is a great villain and indeed would work flawlessly too. But Vanderbilt may not.

but now let's recapitulate. why James was contracted?
it was because the people involved in the Spider-Man franchise liked his ideas. probably because matched with what they wanted. it's hard to explain.
and James said he loved the previous movies.
so, I don't know, he must know that Lizard is a right choice now and the producers liked his ideas for the character.
just a hypothesis.

Well Connors had a mention in Spider-Man, then he had a small role in SM-2 & SM-3. We are familiar with who he is, it makes sense to utilize him as the villain for SM-4.

You do have a point, but maybe Vanderbilt will think about how Kraven hunts animals and Lizard is a human Lizard that Kraven wants to hunt down. Maybe Vanderbilt could us Kravens' joy for hunting animals and combine that with the Lizard is basically what I'm saying. He might not think about this though.

Sorry for double post.

Very true, Sam even said himself that he thinks it's time to introduce the Lizard. Though, he isn't in complete control like he was in the first three films. Also, I agree with Arcturus.

This is exactly why I want an interview with Vanderbilt, talking about SM4's potential villains and the new direction he's taking the franchise.

Agreed, it's been too long without even a hint of possible villains that they're looking at.

Well, I guess once the script is completed, Vanderbilt will probably tell us more on Villians and which route he's taking Peter. By Villains I don't mean reveal who they are, just maybe little hints or something.

it's all WGA's fault.:cwink:
I just hope it ends soon
