I don't think they should reboot with his origin because what's the point? But, I also don't think they should operate under the same continuity. I think it should be more like what they are doing for Hulk and Punisher. Does anyone know if that's what Vanderbilt's doing? Or is he trying to add another chapter in Raimi continuity?
yeah, Hulk and Punisher are basically reboots minus the repeated origin.

No ones knows sh:t at this point. Damn writer's strike!
I know I hate this, bunch of complainers who want more money. Hey, be happy you have a job guys, don't cry about it. I'm sorry you don't have enough money to buy multiple condos off of one script. Boo-hoo:csad:

the way I see it, the only difference between it being a reboot, and a revamped sequel (new main cast, director, if needed) is that...
a) they wont have to do an origin story
b) we wont see repeat villains (atleast not any that are dead)
and
c) they can keep some of the supporting cast members (J.K. Simmons, Dylan Baker, Rosemary Harris....)

I mean, it can be a new original story line, that still fellows the
events that have already taking place, but they don't need to adress any of them
3 didn't really leave any big set ups, or cliff hangers that needed to be continued on
just pick up where they left off, and start a new story
(maybe through some references here, or there, to previous event, but, don't make a big deal about)

I hope they (Sony) don't be secretive about what they're doing with SM4, especially with the villains. And I also hope that Marvel/Sony/Raimi doesn't go changing and kidding up what the new writer creates.

I hope it is still same continuity. Also hopefully tobey and raimi stay if not as i said if raimi leave get someone who has simular style/approach so the film will look simular. But as others said to early right now we wont know anything more untill strike is over so the guy can official send in his script and then what ever sony/marvel wants to say.

Yeah, everytime I think about the writers strike, it makes me mad. I mean it has to end sometime.

well there is an article i read just a little while ago from yahoo news stating from two sources close to the wga and studios group saying the strike could be ending next week and a deal in the works that is being finalized hopefully this happens. i want to see the strike end soon. Its pretty much to late to save second half of seasons for tv shows this yr but starting work on their next seasons can begin and movies can get back on track.

Everyone else in Hollywood is over paid, why not the writers, and just end this crap?

He has to say that in public to support his union but if he's not at home typing away at his computer, I'd be very disappointed and very surprised. The SM4 script will be turned in fast after the strike is over. He just has to make it look good. He can't turn it in the next day.

Still, since Marvel Studios settled, I can wait. I'd rather see Thor corner the market and wait a little longer for SM4. With all the big studios out, stuff like Thor, Cap and even Ant-Man are going forward while all other big budget films are completely stalled. That works for me.

I'm curious to see what Vanderbilt will bring to the Spidey franchise.I wish him good luck!

Yea with the strike still on going and hopefully ending soon, most writers probably still have been working on there scripts for movies/tv they just cant turn it into the wga/studios while the strike is going on. Then once the strike does end most are probably going to wait a few weeks to let things settle with the studios and wga and all that. I have a college professor who is a wga member and he has mentioned to me that he has a script he is working on for a film he will send to his agent but they cant do anything about it to the strike is over and he said it isnt a smart move to hand in a script right after the strike is over. It is better to wait a little bit.

people were already talking about that here i think and some other places. But i do hope thats true.

Oh, sorry about that. :O

Well, it's good to know that it might finally be ending next week in Spider-Man 4 will officially start being made.

Zodiac was excellent and The Rundown was a pretty decent action flick for pg-13 standards, one of the Rock's better movies. Nobody has ever seen Basic, so I dont know about it, but it looked stupid. Hopefully they only use one villain.

Some of the BND writing staff said they want Menace to be in the fifth movie. They are ******ed.

Finally, someone who matters offers some input into the future of this francise. I can only hope that he is looking at the only possible villains who deserve to be in 4, Lizard and Kraven.

Or Mysterio

Love idea of Lizard/Kraven or Lizard/Mysterio

Given the good writing for Zodiac he may use a more mystery type feel to Spiderman 4 and no I'm not pushing Mysterio.

Keep da news coming.

Er, no. The writers were getting totally screwed when it came to royalties for digital stuff. If I'm not mistaken, the writers never saw a cent of any TV show episode sold on iTunes.

Yeah, I'm totally in the writer's corner here. "Greed" is not writer's asking for a decent share of the money made from what they do a HUGE part in creating. "Greed" is the obscenely rich executives who treat every movie, every TV show, every franchise like it's a product and try and milk them for every penny they can get for themselves.

That said, I understand that the studios can't just cave immediately. That gives the writers' way too much future leverage, and the power balance between the studios and the guilds is important.

Yeah, well maybe they should take that up with the webpages which support that and the people who do download them illegally, not make the whole community suffer for it. Yes I feel bad for them, but there's a fine line between taking it up with the real prosecuters and making everybody else suffer for the minority's decisions.

I think studios should start preparing for a writer's strike next time, by hiring a bunch of writers who are not in the union, once this thing is over with.

Scab writers are blacklisted by the guild. A few months of work is not worth years of unemployment.

Oh, so is that what they're called, lol? I see your point, but what if they put out some great material for TV/Film and create franchises within those months, and form their own union. No studio would turn down something that they think is going to make tons of money. Personally, I think the guild is the cause of a lot of generic crap coming from Hollywood. I sometimes curse them and their strangle-hold they have on writers. Everyone always wants to have power over a MoFo. :o
