Was Kurt Cobain Emo?

Mo Mar will kick your freaking AyUsS in the name of real Emo, so watch it.

Kurt himself could be considered "Emo" under the lights of many posters here. I don't really enjoy hearing the term being used anyhow.

but all the emo kids in my school act gay, so i was just wondering

seriously, people need to knock it the f**k off with this emo s#!t.....especially considering that 99% of the poeple here using it use it improperly since they clearly dont know s#!t about it. its geting so damn annoying. if you wanna make fun of emo kids, thats totally cool, but if you dont know what your talking about then shut the hell up, because you look like a moron.

and for the record, anyone who thinks nirvana is emo deserves to be hit by a truck.

 It is almost making this board un-enjoyable. Everytime some one here starts a thread that has something to do with actually having life troubles. They are called "emo".

lots of people wear tight jeans and black, same with grunge. problem is, your trying to define emo and grunge by fashion, when in fact its the music you should be focusing on.

Yeah. I myself wear all black. I do this because I grew up listening to the metal bands of the eighties, & that fashion just kind of stuck with me.

within the past 2 hours i have come across two threads and numerous posts completely misusing the word emo. its annoying. for whatever reason, using the word emo is the latest annoying fad on this board, and its made all the more annoying since the people using it clearly have no idea what they're talking about.

Again agreed. The term is being used for anything, & everything.

Kurt himself could be considered "Emo" under the lights of many posters here. I don't really enjoy hearing the term being used anyhow.

I would love to see what would happen if one of these teeny's went up to Kurt when he was alive, & called him a emo b**ch. I would pay to see that.

Romeo and Juliet ****ing invented emo.

Romeo and Juliet WEREN'T REAL PEOPLE.

okay, let me clear this up, a lesson on emo...

THE NAME 'EMO'- short for emotional. which is pretty ridiculous in itself. emo kids are very emotional, but just because someone is emotional or sad doesnt make them emo. you'll also find that most of the emotions that emo kids convey are actually superficial and hollow.

THE MUSIC- this is where emo originated, in music. the content of emo music is all about the hopelessness of life, and tries to be introspective, but more often than not its superficial and hollow immature adolescent rantings. emotions are taken to extremes. these themes are consistant in all emo bands, and basically the subject of every emo song. though, just because a band performs a song with similar content doesnt make the band or song emo (since this content can be found in music from every band in the history of music). the band would only be considered emo if this is found in the vast majority of their music and the song can only be emo if its coming from an emo band. emo is often credited to being brought into the mainstream by the band dashboard confessional.

THE ATTITUDE- like everything else to do with emo, the attitude is hollow and superficial, though emo kids believe it to be real. they are often distraught and depressed over trivial bulls#!t things that everyone deals with, they merely take it to the extreme, in an attempt to appear unique, introspective, and sensitive. they literally perpetuate their own sadness, they wallow in it, then they complain about being sad. they strive to seclude themselves from others, then complain about being secluded. they'll often say things like they hate their lives, no one understands them, and come off as suicidal. they're actually far from being suicidal, they just say that for the attention. though, some will go to the extreme to cut themselves to appear they tried to commit suicide (Again for the attention), they'll also say they cut themselves because thats the only way they can feel anything anymore. emo kids usually put up a front of perpetual sadness and depression, and will flaunt the fact that they're on medication.

THE FASHION- long hair, flat ironed down to cover half of their face, dyed black (perhaps with bleached highlights), mail carrier style bag, converse, tight pants, tight shirts, neo-retro, thick black glasses, cuffed pants, argyle socks, etc....though, seeing people with a combination of these things doesnt make them emo. though, if you see someone with the majority of these things, then theres a good chance they are emo.

theres nothing emo about romeo and juliet.
Ernest Hemingway was a raging emo. He could wear women's jeans and mascara like no one's business. He practically invented cutting, cept he preferred a shotgun and a stove to a rusty razor.

I heard Juliet used to cut herself to let the pain out. It's true.
