The Dark Knight Rises What should the final scene of the trilogy be?

A Joker ending would be a bad idea, guys. You don't want to end a film by reminding folks in a heavy-handed way about the previous film. TDKR should end with something that fits its story and allows it to stand on its own merit.

Exactly! I think the ending will have more to do with Bruce Wayne and his realizations about his life as Bruce vs. Batman. Maybe he'll reveal himself to Gordon at the end.

I want see this:
Hope.
Hope for a better Gotham.
Hope for more Batman-Films in a realistic Movie.

A surprise as that of X-Men 3 at the end ... (Magneto and his chess-Game ...)

No thanks to a Joker ending. At least none of the ideas from this thread. I think it would probably cheapen TDKR and also easily turn out very corny.

I'm all for a Joker reference in TDKR but nothing too big. A mention would be fine but I don't think they should show him or have him speak.

Ra's al Ghul watching the signal...

I'll be surprised if no one's mentioned this yet, but:

Batman: I never got the chance to thank you.

Gordon: And you'll never have to.

Yeah I mentioned it already.

Nobody really liked it from what I remember.

I wonder if it will be a play on Batmans and Gordons first encounter. Remember when Batman declares " now we're two!"
Could be an interesting way to nod at them knowing each other's identity, especially if Bats is Bruce at the time.

just had an idea about the scene where Gordons in the hospital.
What if bruce visits him and tells him he can take down bane himself. Then gordon sez: "Im only one man".
So bruce sez " Now were two!" and jumps out the window.
It would refer to the first one, and be a subtle nod to BB

I would guess that the final shot will be of Batman overlooking the city, or something to that effect. If you look at the visual metaphors of the first two endings you have...

BB: Batman flying off a rooftop, coming straight at the camera, almost saying "I'm Batman, baby! Come get some!"

TDK: Batman being chased, on the Batpod, away from the camera. To me that says that he's not as beloved as he was in the first film, and that he's going away for a while.

So if Nolan does something similar (and Bruce doesn't die) I would expect some sort of visual that says, "I'm here, this is my city, and I will always be here to protect it."

That's just my guess...

I personally like the idea of a "Joker" ending. He's too iconic to just forget and not bring up again. Some might see it as cheesey or cliche, but I don't really see it that way.
:
Batman saves the day, but at a high cost. Alfred dead/quadriplegic, Gotham nearly leveled.

Batman with Gordon on rooftop, Gordon asking if Joker was right, if Batman changed things. Made them worse. Batman disappears.

Batman breaks into Arkham, goes to Joker's cell. Then it plays kind of Killing Joke style. Batman wants to know if Joker thinks they'll do their dance forever or if there's another way. Opens the cell and finds it's not Joker, but a guard with face painted in blood.

"Why so serious" music builds, screen goes black, Joker's laugh.

The fight goes on and blabbity-blah. I just like the Joker too much not to have a little something more.
That would be awesome and pretty cool .

yeah, I like the Joker idea too. I think this film could still have an ending that ties itself into a neat (self contained) bow while still hearkening back to what to what the Joker said about this cycle never ending. It would be a somewhat lighthearted way of saying "hey, this ain't over, but I'm (Batman) in charge now". Granted this won't happen, but it's fun to think about.

I would really enjoy the "Bruce visits his parents grave" scene to be the very last scene. With background dialogue narration. It would be cool if that scene takes place in the Spring after the Winter of trials that Batman is apparently about to face. Spring represents new beginnings and the RISING of the new year.

I have to agree with the Joker mention in TDKR. I mean lets face it, the joker is the yang to batman's ying.

I don't care where its placed but at least a mention as to the status of the Joker at that moment. Like they did with Scarecrow in TDK. Tying up loose ends.
I mean its not confirmed that Joker was sent to arkham, anything could have happened. He could have died for all we know.

It's that one constant...if you know what I mean. If they mention joker, then he will be referenced in all 3 movies. Showing How big Joker really is, not just as a person.

But personally I would prefer it in the beginning so that way the formula would look something like this:

BB(End reference)====>The Dark Knight<====TDKR(beginning reference)

I honestly don't think Nolan will do an ending like 89 or Phantasm. I don't really know if id even want to see one like that.

What else shows that Gotham, ,once again needs Batman other than the Bat-signal..?

Batman and Gordon are on a rooftop.

"Why do we fall commissioner?"

Gordon shakes his head

"So we can learn to pic ourselves back up"

Batman flies off into the night.

This is exactly how I feel it should be done.

It should go like this.

BRUCE WAYNE wanders in the dark of his gigantic UK mansion.

Bruce: "Alfred!"

Silence. Then, a misterious black figure makes it's presence known.

Nick Fury: "I Am Batman, huh? You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Wayne, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet. I'm here to talk to you about the Justice League Initiative".

END CREDITS.

I want them somehow to use the words, "Everything is going to be all right", from Gordon the night of the Wayne's murder to be used in the final scene as a way to let Gordon in on Batman's identity while foreshadowing any new "threat" Gotham may face, will be overcome.

:awesome:

A massive reveal
That Bruce Wayne/Batman is a construct Cobb created for himself in Limbo. Gotham was Limbo and every villain has been a different facet of Cobb's personality from his days as a criminal. Cue lead in to Inception part 3.

:awesome:

No. Just... No.

I would facepalm so incredibly hard at that

Bruce reveals his hot body, full of tattoos. He has pictures of Ra's, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Talia, Joker, Sal Maroni, Carmine Falcone, Two Face & He has defeated TLOS & killed that evil ***** Talia, but he starts all over again...

:woot:

The final scene should be Bruce attending the circus, with the Flying Graysons appearing .
