The Dark Knight Rises What should the final scene of the trilogy be?

Batman has cleared his name or redeemed himself in the eyes of the GCPD. Gordon finally reignites the Batsignal. You hear yelling and car horns blowing in the street. Have a Bullock type officer smugly state they're rioting, but Gordon smiles as he looks down at the streets saying "No Detective, they're cheering." We get shots of civilians cheering and stuff, show the reactions of characters we've followed such as Alfred, Fox, and maybe a hint at the Joker ( laughter coming from inside an Arkham cell, and they're reactions. We see Batman at his parents grave, a robin lands on the tombstone. It looks at Bruce curiously before flying off. As Bruce watches the bird fly away, he looks up, notices the signal, fade to black.

Allow me to add a wrinkle, cut out the robin part, however do throw an Easter Egg in near the end or maybe the beginning of the film of the circus coming to town featuring a high-wire family act called "The flying Graysons".

Early in the film, maybe the opening scene, have Batman at his parent's grave in the rain, the toll of being Batman and taking the wrap for Two-face and Rachel's death all starting to emotionally take it's toll on him.

Now back to the final scene, after Gordon tells the detective that the crowd is cheering and we're seeing the reactions of Alfred & Fox, we see Batman, perched on the corner of a tall building and sees the Bat signal and then takes flight and glides over the crowd on his way to Police Headquarters...and the credits roll.

This is interesting, but fairly cliche. How many times have we seen superheroes cheered, a easter egg reference at at the end, of them standing on a tall building like a shadow watching over the city. Nolan will do something more cutting edge and inspired, but I wouldn't even attempt to guess. Knowing Nolan it will be pretty awesome.

IT'S BATMAN...HE PERCHES ON ROOFTOPS, HE'S THE ONE THAT STARTED THAT ISHT!

Cliche was giving him a love interest (Rachael).

A Batman monologue (about the events that took place in BB,TDK & TDKR)

With a shot like this ..

My :hrt: might stop beating

Alfred standing by Bruce's grave in the rain.

Maybe similar to the ending of Arkham Asylum game? Batman standing at the Bat Signal with Gordon, they talk over the events of all three movies, Gordon's radio chimes in "Commisioner, we have a hostage situation down at St. Swithin's School, some guy calling himself the Riddler says he has a challenge for the Batman. Gordon looks up to see Batman has disappeared, as he looks in the distance you see Batman soaring off. (As he passes a billboard for The Flying Graysons).......:awesome:

Or, Bruce standing proudly at his parents grave as his monologue plays over. Alfred joins him at one side, Selina at the other?

Not a fan of the batman monologue idea. Although dated, I did like how the 1989 Batman ended, with him looking over Gotham. The idea seems to resound in every Batman movie.

If this is Nolan's last, and the intended end of his Bat-franchise, there's much that leads us to believe that it will be the end of Batman.

the ongoing theme has been Gotham city. IMO, it should end with the city being saved. Bruce content that he was able to do what his parents tried.

that is.. if Bruce makes it to the end.

A more ballsy ending would have Batman's death, but through his death, Gotham is inspired when the revelation that it's protector was also it's favored son.

Hard to say if that idea could fly but with the dark knight, all bets are off as to what to expect in this conclusion.

While I'd love an Easter Egg referencing the Graysons. What I could see, and it would be nice, would be the final scene being Bruce at his parents' grave making his oath to them. A clear signal that this Batman-thing is going to be forever, even if the movies aren't.

I agree, that would be pretty cool. No cliffhangers, just a nice ending, with us all safe in the knowledge that Gotham will be safe :woot:

For me I'd like to see it quite final, perhaps see graves of dead villains or crime scenes of their deaths and then have Batman walk slowly through his graveyard and bend down in front of his parent's grave, take off his mask and rest it atop the grave. Rain hammering down on the mask it zooms in on the empty hollow mask as it sits there, rain dripping from the eyes (like tears) and fade to black!

Just a thought off the top of my head. Probably too obsessed with the graveyard but hey hum.

-Grave Yard and it's raining

-Bruce is looking at the graves

-Alfred walks up. Alfred mentions it will be nearly 25 to 30 years since bruce's parent's were killed. Bruce asks "Would they be proud of me Alfred?" Alfred reassures Bruce. Bruce sees the bat signal.

Batman- Commissioner....

I like this, but I would have the exchange more like,

'Would they be proud of me, Alfred?'

'I think they would, sir.'

Cue bat signal, shining above Gotham.

'I think they all would.'

I want something that is going to leave me on the edge of my seat feeling both unresolved and hopeful. I don't want anything corny like Batman on a conveyer belt that's heading into a life-sized George Foreman grill, but I do want something that injects an unexpected sense of danger, and we as long time fans, are left to have faith that the Dark Knight prevails. I would love an ending scene that is a mash-up of The Prestige, Inception, and Batman: Dead End (the fan film that I'm sure we've all seen).

What I want is not a far cry, as we've seen Batman face incredible odds over the decades. I've seen Batman in an electric chair, and I've also seen him bound in chains hanging upside down surrounding by his most deadly foes.

I literally want to walk out of the movie and say, "oh sh%t!"

All of the graveyard scenes sound incredible but in my opinion I think they will make amazing scenes in the middle of the movie if they are included. To me, with the title about the Dark Knight rising, I envision the final scene being something positive and uplifting more like the end of BB after the conversation with Gordon and you get the sense of Batman coming into his own as the hero of Gotham. TDK ended with him being the "scapegoat" of Gotham, and that is why I think DKR will have a more uplifting or victorious type of feeling to the final scene but thats just me. But if it were any of the graveyard ideas I certainly wouldnt complain.

After beating Bane to death with a bowling pin. Batman shouts, "I'm finished!" And credits roll.

Should be Bruce visiting his parents graves first.

Then, he talks to Alfred about the consequences of being Batman and why he can never give up on Gotham.

That pans outside to pouring rain, the bat signal visible in a watery image. Camera slowly zooms out of the window and upwards to Batman standing on top of Wayne Manor, looking over an enormous group of people outside. His fathers voice is heard in his mind:

"Don't be afraid Bruce"

Then Batman whispers to himself:

"It's not who I am underneath-

He slowly takes the cowl off, revealing himself to the people of Gotham. His stone face looks over everyone as they gasp in surprise.

Cuts to black

-its what I do that defines me."

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Every movie has ended with him and Gordon; It probably should continue that trend

Batman saves the day

entire cast does the bat-tusi

Fade to black

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

End Credits
