WB will probably announce the WW sequel once it hits the $400M mark domestically. Or whenever Patty Jenkins nails the story treatment and gets a big pay raise.

I'm sure they will do it at comic con.

I'm not sure. I think WB will be a bit more low key with the DC stuff there. They did a bit too much last summer attempting BvS damage control and a lot of things fell apart.

I think we'll get plenty of Aquaman stuff, probably a new JL trailer, but not sure beyond that. They haven't made a ton of progress on their schedule after Aquaman yet. They could announce WW2 and give it a 2020 release. I also could see them maybe firming up the date for The Batman, but Reeves may still be involved with Apes promo then.

Maybe an announcement on MoS2 with Abrams as the Director? They have been tapping guys they used to help launch the WB Network in the 90s - Whedon and Reeves both were in on that. Abrams was another.

Maybe we'll get something on Gotham City Sirens and Shazam. There've been some rumors surrounding the casting of Black Canary. It's possible that could be part of a Birds of Prey angle for Batgirl and we could see Huntress cast as well - or maybe they've decided to do something with Green Arrow.

Or maybe they finally get The Flash off the ground. Or Justice League Dark (Dark Universe or whatever). They have a lot of irons in the fire, but the future lineup isn't all that clear beyond Aquaman. We know The Batman is coming. We know Gotham City Sirens is as well.

I think we get a preview for Aquaman, a trailer for JL, and maybe a firm announcement for 2019 unless there's another 2018 film they believe they can fast track.

Yup.

I don't expect any announcement at Comic con about Wonder Woman 2, Man of Steel 2, Gotham City Sirens, Batgirl, Flash, Justice League Dark, Black Adam or Shazam.

If it can hold to a 35% drop against Spidey, it could have even smaller drops in the next few weeks. No other film coming out is the box office titan that SM is, and Spidey is more similar in market demographics to WW than WftPotA and Dunkirk.

Mendelson's daily WW update.

I’ll keep trying to justify stand-alone Wonder Woman posts as long as the traffic justifies it. It’s a rare thing to have a clickbait story about a good movie that makes folks happy, captures the zeitgeist and makes craploads of money. And today is the day where Wonder Woman has officially outpaced Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so it is now all-but-certain top be the biggest domestic grosser of summer 2017.

Wonder Woman didn’t miss a beat against Spider-Man: Homecoming, earning $10.135 million (-35%) in its sixth weekend of release. That’s another very small drop, and it’s enough to put the film at $368.786m domestic on its 38th day of release. That means the film has outgrossed, inflation or 3D bumps notwithstanding, The Secret Life of Pets, The Jungle Book, American Sniper, and Deadpool in North America. That means Wonder Woman is the second-biggest comic book superhero movie ever, behind only Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, that doesn’t feature Batman, Spider-Man or Iron Man. But that may not be the case for much longer.

It now sits with $745.8m worldwide (a 49.4/50.6 split).

So Wonder Woman has collected (745.8 - 368.7) = 377.1 million OS so far.

That means the OS weekend total is (377.1 - 368.9) = 8.2 million.

Last weekend it was 15.5 million from OS markets. This weekend Wonder Woman dropped just 48%. That's a great hold against DM3 and SM:H. There's also chance for the revised actuals to come in higher like every weekend so far. Damn, Diana just keeps on slayin'. :awesome: :awesome:

Wonder Woman 38 days - 368.78M
The Hunger Games 38 days - 372.02M

7th weekend - 5.58M

Still possible I think ;) WW 7th weekend 6.5-7.0?

The overseas actuals have thus far been always revised up. Hopefully that streak continues.

Shout-out to iEquinox for getting it absolutely spot on with OS weekend number. He is Nostradamus around here. :D :D

$400M OS is looking pretty likely.

Last week is made it made $12.1M OS during weekdays. This week the weekdays estimate was $6.4M, a 47% drop. If the weekend has the same drop it will get $8.2M OS this weekend for a OS total of $378M after Sunday. With the most frontloaded markets only making up a small part of last weekends gross, it should make 2x that $8M weekend in the remaining markets for an OS total of $394M. It then needs only $6M in Japan to get past $400M, which it should get.

So even if you're very conservative, it should pass $400M OS. If the $10M+ domestic weekend holds, it will no longer just have "a shot at $800M", $800M+ would actually be the likely outcome.

But first the numbers have to hold up, let's wait and see if it gets $10M+ DOM and 8M+ OS this weekend.

If the OS actuals get revised up again, the harshest drop would still be the 2nd weekend, which was 52%.

Hmmmm, hopefully next weekend, WW will "bounce back" from that 35% drop this weekend :cwink:

Definitely. It has been the case every weekend so far. I hope for more of this consistency. :D :D

Even if that is true I think the dumbest thing they could possible do is add in more WW just to capitalise on this movie. You're potentially deviating the plot to accommodate something that isn't important to the overall film.

I'd say it would be a good move, *if* it were early enough. At this point, though? If JL is bad enough that adding a bunch of extra WW would have a shot at improving it, then adding a bunch of WW would not, in fact, have a shot at improving it.

So it's officially passed Suicide Squad worldwide. Go Diana!

I think WB would like to find some way to get something else scheduled in 2018. There has been an Untitled DC film on the slate for next year. The Nightwing movie was announced earlier this year, so that is the one movie I could see them releasing to go with Aquaman next year.

Nightwing also strikes me as a film that could come together quickly if the script is good. It's not going to be a CGI extravaganza or require the kind of post-production that things like Wonder Woman, Spidey, JL, etc require. It would work well on the kind of schedule of a film like John Wick that was shot and fully finished in under nine months as long as Nightwing is a more realistic and grounded action film.

Of course a quick schedule and lower budgets for other DC films is possible too. Wildcat and Canary could be pretty amazing, fairly inexpensive, and filmed quickly.

It'd be wise for WB to find a balance and release some smaller, cheaper comic based pictures to go along with the big budget ones. That would differentiate them nicely from the MCU as well.

Gotham City Sirens should be a smaller scale film with a relative small budget.

Wonder Woman's box office run has been so much fun to follow!! It's having a phenomenal run! Exceeding everyone's expectations and heading for 800+ M world wide!! Incredible!

Edit: If she goes past 800 then only 13 people would have been right according to this poll!! :o

After these latest updates, 800 mil is a lock now as far as I'm concerned.

:chd: :woo: :tmm: :woo: :chd:

Wonder Woman is now over $4 million in the United Arab Emirates. $8.2 million in Indonesia. $1.7 million in Turkey. So much for the claim that there is an anti-Israeli bias against Wonder Woman in Muslim countries.
When you think about it, the only countries were Wonder Woman was banned are ruled by dictatorial regimes that support terrorism. The people in those countries didn't ban Wonder Woman. The ruling elite did
because they want to use Israel as a distraction so their people won't see how oppressive their rule is.

Absolutely and completely deserved. WW is far and away the best outing from the DCEU and deserves all the success it's getting.

That UAE figure really is impressive.
