X-Men Apocalypse made 8.2 last night on previews

Solid. Bodes well for something in the $90 million range.

Not that IMDb is anything to go by but Apocalypse is currently the number 1 ranked movie on there. Cap is 2 and DP 3. Alice isn't even in the top 20. It's ranked by popularity based on users on IMDb. And also Sophie, Jennifer, Olivia, Oscar, Evan, James, Michael, Rose and Hugh are all in the top 100 actors ranked on IMDb right now. It's nothing but nice to see it getting some attention.

My crowd was really pleased with the movie, but it was a Thursday night showing so they were a bunch of fans more willing to be pleased lol.

In thursday night previews it bodes well for X_men Vs alice.

Apocalypse got 8.2 million vs Alice 1.5 million.although the kids who likely make up much of alice's target audence may have been too young to go out on thursday evening.

I don't think optisim is something to look down on. Being a realist is fine but there's nothing wrong with people hoping for the best for a movie they love.

Exactly.

Do people have unrealistic, sometimes absurdly insane, expectations? Of course they do.

Is it still ok to hope it makes a gazillion dollars every weekend until the next Star Wars movie comes out? Of course it is.

Is it ok to be more realistic about the odds of that happening? Of course it is.

Be however you need to be. Just don't be a jerk about which side you fall on. We're all fans here, best to remember that.

oh come on! what has time to do with it? Which horsemen works a long time for Apocalypse? Apocalypse is the dumbest villain in X-Men history. He normally shows up, transforms an X-Men into an horsemen and is defeated two issues later. (very good adaptions in this movie for exactly this!)

the problem is not that Psylocke was an horsemen. The problem is that they did not used her at all or gave her any motivations (+ a ridiculous over-sexualized bikini costume from hell)

I not sure of the complaint with Psylocke costume it's not a made up oversexulized costume it's like her most popular one from the comics. When people saw it on the covers of the mags they were loving it but seeing in the movie there was a complaint when we already knew what we were getting with her. It's a comic accurate costume.

I'm just happy it's not getting pushed around by Alice in Wonderland. God, that movie looks awful.

I'm certainly not expecting it to do MCU business...but I'll be happy with better-than-respectable at this point.

I see that, there is literally no comparison between this and FF4. Some people are simply stuck on hating this movie for obvious reasons. Was this movie perfect no by no means but it was very enjoyable to watch and a good film.

we all knew before reviews popped up apocalypse would have big dropoff on second weekend.

Magifecent back in 2014 had mixed reviews but it had one thing going for it the return of angelina Jolie to film.Alice doesn't have that and johnny Depp's star has dropped much since 2010.

Apocalypse nearly beating DOFp thursday night previews may bode well for Apocalypse's Domestic box office.

Well, we don't know if that's true yet. We would have shown up last night even if the RT score was a negative number, so those numbers were always going to be good.

I didn't realize the thread in which I honestly like the costume just was replying though. Wasn't trying to derail the topic of this thread.
I think the movie will do very well I was very excited with the turn out in my theater yesterday. Tonight i will get a true reactions from the crowd since it's the first official opening day. I think word of mouth for this film isn't bad as the critics weren't making it.

well they did very well on thursday night in light of reviews.but friday-monday will tell us if apocalypse is situation where audences like film but critics largely don't.

Yeah, DOFP did 110M 4-day, so Apocalypse should do 90-100M 4 day, which should be ok despite the mixed reviews.

Alice is doing pretty bad though. Tomorrowland in limited release Thursday night did 0.75M. Alice had over 3700 screens and only did 1.5M.

I understand releasing an Alice sequel (if it was 2013) because the first made so much money, but studios need to stop making sequels to movie people don't want (Huntsman, Neigbors, Now You See Me, etc).

I always though alice would do less than first film.Just like I thought Civil war
was going to be top box office comic book film of 2016 with 400 millionish at
Domestic Box office.
