So. I saw it yesterday and I was really nervous thought I tried to keep my expectations low. I really enjoyed it and don't understand all the bad critics. I'm at work right now but I might write a longer review when I have the time.

Because the movie doesn't really deserve a low RT score.

Depends who you talk to, the overall reception is not good either way you break it down.

As much as I love X-Men, it was a pretty bad film especially when compared to today's quality of comic book movies. The writing/script was extremely poor.

It ultimately comes down to the script. It's terrible.

Yeah I said this earlier: I think Singer and the principal cast showed up and did a good job, but they were let down by a very underwhelming screenplay.

The Internet begs to differ lol.

or says critics.others on internet disagree.

You're all right... and wrong.

i'll see the film this weekend to know for sure, but I'm going in expecting exactly what this has looked like for a while now... a "meh" film but with some great moments.. and even a few that will certainly cause me to geek out a bit.. I recent review basically just said it's not a great movie, but definitely plants the seeds for a much better franchise in future films. and that's exactly what i've been vibing for a while now.

I think the truth is in the middle of the spectrum, and that's exactly how i feel this will be. Not a terrible film.. but not the great film this franchise deserves either.

This movie is mixed at best, judging from the Internet reaction. It may not be terrible but it's also not that great either.

Out of interest do we know who the original 4 horsemen were?

There is so much crap on the internet

Not just that but what happened to subjectivity? I guess we should've written off The Thing (82), Big Trouble in Little China, Sorcerer (77), and Citizen Kane all because the critics said so.

IMDB lists them as War, Pestilence, Famine and Death.. Death being the one who shields Apocalypse until her end. I much preferred them over the X-Horsemen.

FC and DoFP are easily better, but I still liked it. It gets very ridiculous at many points, and I think the movie itself is more of a dumb popcorn movie than FC or DoFP were, but it was a good dumb popcorn movie. I actually feel like it is more what I wanted to see out of X1 so many years again, and didn't get.

magnetos story
TyeClops Story
Jean Greys Story
in the film was not dumb popcorn stuff
some good heavy themes.
Its not the best X-men film
but might be my favorite

I just saw the film and Kinberg can't be the only one to blame. Singer stretched himself beyond his capacity. I found the blue screen work startlingly fake for the kind of budget this film has. The wirework was appalling. Oscar Isaac was completely buried in the costume and failed to give a compelling performance.

These are all on Singer. The script is flawed, but a different director would've made a more exciting film out of it.

I disagree and agree at the same time. I do think he stretched himself to do something different but for the most part it played out well it indeed had its hiccups but it was still very enjoyable and entertaining. I do think Singer needs a consultant or something for these movies to help him direct with some fresh ideas. The green screen I agree was very faulty at times but the budget may have been less than we actually thought it was, the wirework was sketchy as well for me though I enjoyed Angels flight. I actually liked Issacs performance and I thought he performed well through the makeup, I mean his performance was stellar to me. That's why I said both Singer and Kinberv should be replaced it was a big step in the right direction though.

And what's with Singer/Fox's love affair with Stryker? I loved Cox's performance as Stryker in X2. But enough is enough for the love of God. Let Stryker go away.

I also thought Isaac did a fantastic job. He's no Magneto, but I liked Apocalypse. He carried most of the early movie for me.

Has this been posted already? If so, sorry for the duplicate--it's MTV After Hours X-men Group Therapy (I love Evan Peters):

As someone who has seen the film, you're exactly right.
