The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 1

I guess the rumors about a post credit montage of the formation of the JLA were hogwash.

Many, many of the rumors were hogwash. Too many to count or remember.

An ending montage or post-credit montage of the full JL team forming is the kind of tacked-on, unearned moment that would have bothered me.

I can't say without a doubt that you'll love this Lex. I'm sure there are people or will be people who don't care for this version, but I dug it.

Overall, there are some aspects of the film that comic book "purists" will simply not care for and find to be controversial. If you go into the film with the mindset of hoping or expecting everything to be accurate to the comics, you'll likely come out disappointed in some ways. Personally, I like that the film dares to be different, takes risks, and doesn't necessarily play it safe. It has a pretty bold, distinctive vision for this universe and its characters.

We are in a Nolan Batman board where most of us like at least two of the three films.

Safe to say none of us here are comic purists.

Oh man, the RT thread is already bonkers and the embargo hasn't even lifted yet. lol

I am tempted to actually lurk. RT threads always bring out the worst in fanboys.

Literally two rottens have been posted to RT (but not counted yet). Cue mass hysteria, sky is falling-type posts. One poster (seriously) claims to have already gotten a refund on his tickets. :funny:

It's crazy how vulnerable fanboys are when it comes to critics, despite having years of unending faith in a project.

Granted, from some of the MoS fans I can understand dreading another polarized reaction. But I think if you're a Snyder fan, you kind of have to make peace with the fact that it's going to come with the territory to a degree.

Critics don't matter. Now lets
display behavior that paints the exact opposite.

^ It's the ultimate contradiction with fans. They say that critics opinions don't matter, yet there is always threads dedicated to critical response. When the critics hammer a movie fans love or want to be good there is chaos and rage over it.

For something that doesn't matter, it always gets a fierce reaction.

Kevin Conroy gives his 2 cents on the whole who would win between Batman and Superman, and then best of all he quotes Bale's Batman line from Begins "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me" at the end :yay:

I think of this moment whenever there is an argument or an outcry too nonsensical.
Like the negative reaction to two negative reactions of critics to a long anticipated movie.

I love when fanboys go to tear down the critic's credibility by bringing up their ratings of other movies and how they are 'wrong' as well, 'proving' that the review of their favorite movie (which they haven't seen) is undoubtedly 'false'.

Currently at 39% based on 27 reviews. How bad is it on the BvsS forum? I bet C. Lee will be worked over time.

I knew it, Disney is in the critics pockets. Oh, it's all Terrio's fault.

Am I doing this right?

What's baffling to me is a lot of the reviews say it's too heavy handed, dark, and with no joy/fun. Critics loved TDKR, even if saying it wasn't quite up to par with TDK. BvS looks much more "comic-booky" than those films.

Maybe dark, serious and gritty is wearing off on some folks now.

It's all about execution. Nolan balanced darkness with deep humanism, it remains to be seen if Snyder has.

To add: contrast the darkness portrayed in TDKR and Watchmen and the eXtreeeme grimdark edgy comics from the 90's.

That appears to be the case. It's just funny because I remember so many people saying TDKR was almost too grim and dark, then a couple years later Snyder comes around with MOS and BvS and seemingly goes too far with it, lol.

The Daredevil series is the same way. Relentlessly dark, especially season 2, but it never forgets to be human.

I just started DD Season 2 btw (only 1 episode in though, not a binge guy). So far I absolutely love Bernthal as The Punisher.

Well, it's not hard to recognize that there's a disconnect between what critics will find to be fun or not fun, and what fans/audiences will find to be fun/not fun when it comes to these things. Some of the things critics will cite as negatives are the very things that many fans will go nuts over.

I also get the sense that some critics might feel that the films with more "comic booky" and fantastical elements should be "lighter" in tone because of those things or for whatever reason. We have to remember that most of these people are not comic book fans and don't realize that, in comics, there are plenty of storylines and big crossover events that are far from bright, cheerful, or funny, but are still extremely stylized and overtly fantastical.

Just wait till his monolgoue -- THE MONOLOGUE. It's as good a performance as anyone's ever given on the genre.

I'm on episode 9 of DD and enjoying it, but felt I was much more invested in Season 1 for some reason.
