The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 3

So, what do ya'll think of Geoff Johns' ascension to being co-head of the DC film division? On one hand, anyone is a step up over Zack Snyder, on the other hand, it's Geoff Johns. His great JSA run aside, I haven't enjoyed anything he's done for what seems like a long time now. His N52 Justice League run was horrid. Plagued with some of the same problems BvS has, namely, idiotic infighting and being a-holes.

So, yeah. The only thing I can say right now is to wait and see. At least he is a comic book guy, unlike who Zack pretends to be.

Ditto, wait and see for me. I can't help but think of this:

But I hope he can step up to the plate and own the role.

I'm not sure he wasn't part of the problem to begin with. He was involved in BVS, he contributed to what it ended up being in some way. Also, he made Green Lantern.

For those who don't step into the X-Section-- X:A gets the thumbs up from me, but I get why it's been critically divisive so far. It's simultaneaously Singer's strongest (in terms of letting it all hang out when it comes to comic bookiness and action and general popcorn entertainment) and weakest in terms of filmmaking itself. I had a great time.

Meh. I'll only see it if a bunch of friends want to go.

X-Men 3 was the last movie I was excited to watch in the series.
I personally liked it on first view, though it was a bit disappointing, but I liked it to a lesser degree compared to its predecessors, I liked it more on later views.
Not sure why I lost excitement thinking about later movies in the series.

So much of a genius that he was able to make Hal's Green Lantern less appealing.

That comment is the reason why I worry about the script of "The Batman". Still excited, but I can't expect a good script now.

Geoff Johns involved in any way is a huge concern for me. He wrote crappy Batman stories.

I don't have a problem with the guy, I love his GL and Flash stuff and also quite liked Batman Earth One (haven't read part two) But I am assuming he will be the Goyer to Affleck's Nolan.

Has anybody read Rebirth? I'm curious to check it out. Unfortunately I already got kind of spoiled on the big "twist".

Oops, you're right. I saw IGN's review and forgot it wasn't officially released yet. They gave it a great review FWIW.

I'm excited to read it, even though I've been spoiled on a couple major things. And judging by those spoilers, at very least, this semi-reboot/whatever it is really does seem to have some balls.

The problem with that analogy is that there's no Jonah Nolan.

What Rebirth is doing with the Joker is very, very silly.

The only Batman story of his that I read is in Wally West's book, and I liked it, but that story is a decade old.

Affleck called Geoff Johns a f**kin genius.

Affleck also said that:

- BvS is a good movie, unlike Daredevil, and if he thought otherwise, he would've been picketing in the streets,
- Terrio's BvS script is utterly brilliant and never required any rewrites and corrections,
- Eisenberg's Lex is the most interesting character in BvS, is psychologically accurate and not a silly one-dimensional villain and is as good as Ledger's Joker.

At this point I don't trust anything Affleck says.

You know what? Maybe he is right.

We don't know the full extent of what Snyder butchered in the editing phase.
