The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 6

The best thing about it was the Vulture. He actually looks kinda cool.

It looked great in my opinion, a breath of fresh air and as a native New Yorker I'm getting a kick out of the minor details we saw in the trailer so far.

I loved the trailer. Holland is killing it, and Keaton was intense as Vulture, and looked great in costume. Could be Marvel's first scary villain.

Why is Spider-Man unmasked?
I was hoping to see the new studio give Spider-Man's secret more value.

The trailer was solid. My feeling is this looks like a fun movie, but still won't touch the first two Raimi films in terms of pure iconography. I also am still not a huge fan of the new suit or the moving eyes.

Keaton alone bumps this up the priority viewing list though. I'd watch pretty much anything with him in it.

I didn't like the trailer. Holland is fine and in sure he'll be good in the movie but overall I felt like it adds nothing new. At this point I'll go for Keaton.

I didn't care for Vulture's look. Shocker? Who cares? Dialogue was nothing new especially from Keaton but he sells it in that scene without the mask.

Scenes like Spidey with his arms out, holding the...oh come on we see've seen that a few times in Marvel movies. Spiderman 2 anyone?

Spidey with his mask off again? Ugh.

Peters friend now knows who he is, ugh. I don't know. Other than the inclusion of Downey and that final shot of Iron Man/Spiderman in the air together, it doesn't look new or fresh to me. Maybe it's just the marketing and it really is more of a John Hughes story. I also don't need to see another Avenger flying around with Spiderman, in a SPIDER-MAN movie.

They definitely are trying to hit you over the head with "Hey guys, this Spider-Man is part of the Marvel Universe!" between the bank robbers in Avengers masks and all the Tony Stark in the trailer. I guess I understand it, for the mainstream audience this is already yet another reboot of Spider-Man so they have to hammer that home. But I agree that it doesn't necessarily excite me. That's why I don't expect this to live up to Raimi's first two films, it already feels more like an "Avenger Jr." movie than a pure Spider-Man film.

I do think the final shot was an intentional homage to Spidey 2, especially since Feige really holds that movie in high regard.

I'm just sick of seeing that shot of Cap or Spidey holding two objects with all their might.

Kevin Conroy just posted a funny pic of Bale Bat doing this;

A classic picture shared by a classic voice actor , lol.

Tbh, though, I feel like both Conroy and Hamill have lost some of the passion for Bats and Joker.... They both just seemed to be going through the motions in The Killing Joke...

I like Bruce Greenwood lately because he sounds like a drill sergeant or some **** and it fits the character and the way he interacts with his side kicks and all. I also liked Michael Emerson and John DiMaggio's respective takes on The Joker.

I don't think there going through the motions. Their just getting older, both of them are already 60.

It's a sad fact but Conroy and Hamill sound more raspier and old than they used to. Listen to the batman stuff from the 90's and early 2000's. They much better and younger.

Arleen Sorkin had a similar issue as well when she reprised her role as Harley Quinn in Arkham Asylum. Which is why I think she retired from the role.

As my nemesis Rocky Balboa once said, "Time beats everybody."

I was thinking about this. Remember back in March when the more rational of us were aghast at how the most ardent DCEU fanboys were completely oblivious to fact and reason. Choosing instead live in their own bubble of delusion? I made a lot of noise about it being a uniquely stupid phenomenon among fanboys.

I was wrong. Dead wrong. Because after that came Brexit, Trump and now Pizzagate.

Facts literally don't matter anymore. People now straight up ignore reality and form their own fantasy land. This is scary.

The internet was supposed to be the promise land of instantaneous and infinite wisdom, it's instead turned into an echochamber poverty.

Hype Awards this year are up.
Nominate.

I think this was supposed to be homage.
I don't mind it.

Spidey with his mask off again? Ugh.
My main complaint.

It's more than just a homage. It looks like a big, important part of the movie. Probably in the final act.

I guess i'm just burnt on seeing the same old s**t over and over. Dr Strange, Civil War, Guardians, Nolan's trilogy all offered something new. This just feels like another spider-man movie with a few adjustments and that's it. Name one moment in the trailer that feels different from any other Spidey or Marvel flick. It's like i've seen it all before. Every scene. Including repeating mistakes made in the Garfield movies like his mask being off all the time.

Even though I think it will be a long time before Raimi's Spider-Man 2 is topped, I'm still looking forward to Homecoming.

Avengers Jr. is somewhat accurate, but It's kind of a given with the shared universe that is the MCU. I will be going into this film with pretty leveled expectations. Can't wait to see Keaton as Vulture.

That Spider-Man trailer looked like Feige and Co. got in a room and said "How do we get people to stop saying they're tired of Spidey?" Love it. Everything about it feels new and fresh. Then again, I'm always down for new Spidey stuff so maybe I'm just biased. :oldrazz:

Really? Cuz my main complaint is that it looks like every past Spidey movie in a nutshell, with Iron Man flying with Spidey at the very end as the only exception.

Yeah, I mean honestly nothing about the trailer seemed particularly fresh to me. Using contemporary pop music was something the Webb films did liberally (and something very in vogue now- eg. GOTG, SS). The visual look of the film seems pretty in line with most of the MCU. Tony Stark cracking wise...etc. The thing it DOES have going for it is the fact that Tom Holland is the first actor to play Peter who actually does pass for a real high school kid from Queens. So that "John Hughes" aspect should be fun to watch if they pull it off.

The movie itself might turn out great and I hope it does, I'm just not there yet in terms of feeling the hype based on this trailer.

I thought the trailer looked great! Admittedly, I’m more partial to Raimi’s films especially the second Spiderman movie he made, but I’ll give it a fair shake. Speaking of Raimi, if anyone hasn’t seen it, check out Ash versus Evil Dead. Great show.

I saw the first season but missed the second one because we had to get rid of Starz :csad:

So what do you guys think of the recent reports that WB intended to keep Snyder for JL 2?

They never learn do they?

And imagine if directors with actual skill and talent got half, half the chances Snyder got. Hollywood would be overflowing with good movies.

I haven't read that actually. Is that still the case?

Cause honestly I took the recent press release about him going off to do The Last Photograph and Affleck's Batman film coming before JL 2 as a nice, face-saving way of saying he's done with DC films. Or at least it seems kind of like positioning for him to not get invited back if Justice League isn't received well.
