The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 7

I'm so pumped for Logan. Especially because this is supposed to be very character driven and gritty. I'm seeing it Tuesday.

So embarrassed about this, but I saw Logan Thursday night and was battling sleep for about 45 minutes in the middle of the movie. This is unfortunately just an issue I've been having in general for the past 6 months or so with watching movies. Nothing to do with the movie itself. It's just been a rather unfortunate side effect of turning 30 for me apparently lol.

What I did see of the movie, I liked a lot. I have a few thoughts about the ending, but I'm not prepared to really delve into my full opinion of the movie until I watch it again properly minus the Zs.

I'll be seeing this again this coming Friday and having a double shot of espresso beforehand. Just like I did when I saw Rogue One for the second time...ugh fml lol.

Need to see that one.

Guardians and Alien out in May. Niiice.

I really want someone to ask Nolan what he thinks of Logan once the marketing for Dunkirk starts up.

There's no guarantee that he would even want to see it.

As I recall he drew inspiration from the X-men franchise for Batman. One would guess he would like to see the end of Jackman's iconic run.

So what do you guys think about Logan doing what we all speculated TDKRises would do?

[BLACKOUT]Kill the protagonist?[/BLACKOUT]

It was great. The final shot of the movie was perfect.

[BLACKOUT]So were his last words when he died. "So this is what it feels like."[/BLACKOUT]

It's about time we see that on film.

Wow, Logan was fantastic. It's almost an Oscar worthy film in terms of how heavy and artsy it is. People keep comparing it to TDK and I think the comparison's valid.

Honestly, it's much artsier than TDK. TDK managed to be both artsy and a summer blockbuster piece. This is only the former. It's not a film for everyone. It's also a darker film. Some of the social commentary is very disturbing.

I always say I wanna watch a film again before doing a review, but it's never been more true. I wouldn't do this film justice reviewing it on a first time basis.

Glad you enjoyed it, Shika.

Sounds like there is quite to digest with Logan. I'm stoked.

I wonder how long will it take between my first and second view of it.

I'm going to see LOGAN on Sunday (a few days to go lol) but I'm still hyped!

Might also watch KONG: Skull Island depending on the times.

It somehow manages to feel like a post-apocalyptic world without being one. And Xavier's presence in the film is disturbing, even though he's still a good guy (if/when you see it you'll know what I mean).

"Artsier than TDK"? I'm not sure if I would use the word "artsy" to describe any of them. TDK is just a well done crime thriller with Batman at the center. Logan is a well done western with Wolverine at the center.

Yeah. Both movies are glorious but they're still very mainstream and not really inventive in terms of narrative.

Artsy in the sense it was the vision of an auteur director (unlike most of the MCU films, for example). This is James Mangold's movie in the same way those films were Nolan's movies (even moreso actually).

As in Mangold had his right to discard the cape equivalent altogether from his story?

As in they gave him a budget and said "Here's our money, make whatever you want. We trust you."

That's pretty much what happened with TDKR after Nolans success with TDK and Inception.

This is different. I don't think it's made to be accessible to everyone the way TDKT was. This is made for a specific kind of fan.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's even my cup of tea. I don't think I'll go back to this over and over again the way I do with DK and stuff like DOFP. It doesn't give me those "feel good" inspirational ideas those movies gave me. But I still see the quality behind it.

I disagree. You could watch Logan without seeing previous films and understand and enjoy it. Just like TDK. There's a couple of references but it's nothing huge.

The R rating is really the only thing that makes it less accessible. But it's not made for a specific type of fan. If you're over a certain age, you can sit back and enjoy the film for what it is. A good character driven action movie with more of a western backdrop. Like TDK Trilogy films, this one concentrated on being a good movie rather than a good superhero movie.

That new Batmobile pic from JL! :lmao:

Are there any shots not in that giant flying warehouse?!
