WW was a blast. Solid movie.

As for Homecoming, yeah, I might just sit this one out.

This seems relevant:

I haven't seen Logan yet, but in watching TDK again not long after watching Captain America Civil War, I found a good amount of similarity between the two movies, so Cap 3 came the closest to me as being TDK's successor.

social media embargo for homecoming was lifted last night

reaction seems pretty glowing at this point. For all those with Spider-Fatigue, all it takes is one really good move to change that.

It's probably good because it has good people taking care of the ship, but I still don't like what I see of it as an adaption of the character.

July's gonna be a big one for movies. Spider-man, Apes, and new Nolan for three consecutive weeks.

I felt the same until I rewatched Winter Soldier and Civil War (this time by myself outside of the theater) and then saw Logan a couple of times. Logan is by far my favorite cbm after TDK Trilogy films and I do think it's rather bold to do a movie like that within this genre, ESPECIALLY during this shared universe phase that seems to be coming from ALL angles these days. During Nolans time making batman movies, all we had was an upcoming Marvel universe which hadn't exploded yet. The MCU was only kicking off between TDK and TDKR. Logan is right smack in the middle of a DCEU/MCU war, where every solo movie becomes a team up at some point.

Logan sounds like one of those movie that is meant to be better with repeat viewings, I hope I'm not wrong about that bit.

Batman looks just fine to me. They all look good, except Flash looks a little too busy

Flash looks like the Red Ranger from the new movie, without the finger covering.

At least it's not Earth-One from the first Injustice game bad.

Finally saw Wonder Woman.

I'm seeing a lot of comparisons to First Avenger thrown around. Plotwise sure, but I think a better comparison is MOS. This is exactly how that movie should've handled Superman. The world in this movie is bleak, dark, and looks as depressing as it gets...but Wonder Woman herself shines through it all as the world's ray of hope/light.

Speaking of Wonder Woman...holy ****. When did Gadot learn to act like that? The Christopher Reeve comparisons are 100% warranted.

I love how layered and complex the film's message is. It provides a crystal clear answer to the question of "Is human nature good or evil?" without attempting to end the debate whatsoever. I feel most other directors would have gone one of these three routes: "Yes, humans are good." "No, humans are evil." or "You decide yourself." I can't think of many other film messages that are this decisive but also open-ended for the viewer's interpretation.

The movie's biggest problem is its pacing. Some of the scenes drag on too long and I'm not sure they'll be as watchable on subsequent viewings. It can also get dull. Others I know thought the last fight was half-ass. I could see that a bit, but it didn't bother me that much. I don't think the film ever suffers from a noticeable drop in quality.

Despite its shortcomings, it's very similar to Guardians: its heart is huge, and that heart trumps any technical flaws the films might have for me.

This wasn't just the first major superheroine film. It was the first 100 million+ budget film to be directed by a woman. Congrats to Patty Jenkins for the final product! I hope it does wonders to her career. :yay:

Looking forward to seeing Mannequin Batman in JL.

She impressed the hell out of me. After seeing some so-so performances, I didn't expect her to knock it out of the park like this.

I'd never call her a great actress or anything, but she did show how well suited to the role she was. I think Patty Jenkins has a lot to do with that; playing to her strengths in crafting a multi-faceted character with her. She has that balance of naivety and benevolence with a warrior's spirit.

Yeah she still has a bit of trouble with her lines but that's probably due to the language (only a scene or two).. And Patty knows what she's doing, at least with her leads. I thought some of the direction/performances for the smaller characters were too hammy. But Gal impressed me. Really. Can't do anything other than applaud her. This is a huge film too. Maybe being on a couple of huge Snyder sets and Fast and the Furious sets helped her out. I know the greatest acting veterans even have a hard time dealing with massive sets and budget, but Gal is involved in these kind of movies back to back to back. I don't know if she can handle a smaller drama but she showed a lot of dynamics in Wonder Woman. It's like she was born for the role. Reeve is now a great comparison.

I can only hope Wonder Woman is the start of a trend, and inspire WB to step outside it's comfort zone (Batman) more often.
