5.18 - Fragile Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I sincerely hope its better than the last two weeks. Its good that TW is directing it, but I hope the script is decent...otherwise it wont pay off.

If John can get a good Episode to direct then so can Tom  I wonder if Tom got to pick what Episode he wanted to direct ?

Well the premise and spoilers for the episode sound pretty weak, but Ill give it the benefit of the doubt. What episode did Schiender direct?

Ya. That wasnt bad. It was actually a somewhat important ep central to the story..

I think TW should have directed 'Mercy' instead. This episode sounds like a random irrelevant Krypto-freak episode for the main plot.

I dont think it will be that interesting of an episode...otherwise the WB wouldnt have thrown in clips from later epsidoes into the 'Fragile' promo. I just hope it isnt as weird as 'Tomb'

Like I said I wonder if Tom got to choose what Episode to direct

I would like to think he did, but it could have come down to scheduling more than anything else....

He had to have an episode he wasn't going to be in much before the episode he directed because he would need to prepare for his helming duties. Void maybe was the one that gave him enough of a break...

However, he was originally skedded to do 19 instead of 18, so maybe it came down to choice, even if he could only choose from among two or three different scripts.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Fragile is one of the few in the entire series that has a kid as the guest star. Tom appreantly likes to work with kids (he did those two Cheaper by the Dozen films and apparently loved the kids). Maybe the kid was one reason why he directed it...

I thought Tom wanted to work with Steve Martin which played a big reason in picking that role ?

Do you know who the writers are for this ep?

Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer....

*triplet groans*

Let's hope they do a little better job with this than they did with Hypnotic....

Yikes.

Yeah, it was but working with the kids was one thing he mentioned more than once as being one of the things he really enjoyed about the experience. The kids all said they loved working with him too.

I've noticed this too. If you just look at the SV episodes where younger actors were involved, you can see the chemistry. He's really good working with younger actors. REALLY good, in fact. I hesitate to use another director whose good with kids as comparison, but it does have me anticipating this episode even more. We shall see.

Ah okay

So Tom did the Movies to work with Steve Martin but ended up really liking working with Kids as well. Maybe he will team up with Eddie Murphy & Star with him in a Daddy Day Care Sequel :o

Chris Columbus is close to being a hack but one thing he does well is work with kids...

So does Steven Spielberg.

A lot of directors I think are intimidated by kids because they're harder to work with. They just don't speak the same language as adult actors as far as the skills are concerned, I mean. Tom apparently has mastered that skill, so I think he'll be great.

I can't wait, especially given what Annette said about his work.

It's all good.

They have done some good episodes though. Do we know if they were trying out a new director with Hypnotic?

I checked that out, after Triplet's comments ;) , and he directed one episode last year. Now I cant remember which one it was. :(

Hmmm.... Not brand new. He also directed Fanatic, but that wasn't a total success either....

In looking at his bio on TV.com, he spent most of career directing Canadian originated TV shows like First Wave.

Meh... I hope he doesn't come back.

Now I can't even remember if I liked that one.

I agree with Trip though.

Oh gosh..

:down

Well no matter how bad the episode is, I guarantee you guys will defend it for one reason

To be fair Crisis even bad Episodes can be redeemed by good moments if you ask me. Even if its One or Two
