I didn't understand you were writing your own version. Ecuse me if I've been harsh.

As I always say!

yeah, I get that people love this games.I do too. But stop trying to argue that the stories are good. They aren't. And the characterization is simply awful.

You can say you don't like the story, but don't act like there isn't one.

That's one of the laziest critiques you can say.

I have yet to see a game or a movie without a story. That said, both stories are really uninteresting, with wasted characters.

There isn't much of them. They're games that focus primarily on gameplay. It's not like it's Metal Gear with hours of cutscenes and hours of conversations.

The stories in the Arkham games are very generic, and Origins is the only one with any kind of remarkable characterization. I think the only reason the story is praised is because of the atmosphere built (which is superb), because the plots themselves are of little note.

There's a lot of inspiration that can be taken from them visually, though.

Oh they definetly have stories. It's laughable if you believe they don't.

I totally agree, the stories have a lot to be desired for, and that's because the series relies on the gameplay more than anything. Which is fine to me. I love the games!

exactly.

Generic, and not very well written. Luckily, the artistic direction, the visuals, and the gameplay are top notch.

I also believe that the Arkham games stories are lacking in most places, but E for Effort, they had some good ideas.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt for knight, especially considering Johns is helping them, like he did with WB montreal for Origins.

I didn't think Origin's story was that much better, it just wasn't as convoluted as the others. It was much more streamlined. Other than that, it had the same beats.

Knight actually looks to be as convoluted as AA and AC. We'll see, though.....

ahaha yea
and the Electrocutioner's quick take down was hilarious and confused me!

It was more engaging, and most of all, it has some amazing characterization, which makes a huge difference.

Dini helped them write Asylum and City

I'm glad he didn't help the team on Origins. And he didn't help them that much, he didn't even know about the tunnel beneath wonder tower.

Just curious, what do y'all think was the big problem with characterization in AA and AC? The only characters they completely botched were Bane and Two-Face, imo.

I don't see how the Origins story was thaaat much better. The whole Batman/Joker relationship was nicely done, as well as the Bruce/Alfred banter, but nothing else really stood out to me.

Agreed. The only thing that was better in Origins, was how they handled Bane. But his characterization wasn't even that great, he was just used as a repeating boss, whereas with the other, there were multiple bosses strewn throughout, instead of just focusing on one.

Like I said, the game had the same beats, it was just more streamlined around fewer characters.

Yeah, I really didn't see that much of a drastic improvement in Arkham Origins' story outside of it being more, like Travesty said, streamlined. I did love the Batman/Gordon dynamic though.

I liked the story in Arkham City quite a bit, it gave me a few laughs, Dr. Hugo Strange was there, and Riddler had a bigger presence
What I'm calling BS is how every game takes place in one night only, but I don't critique it that much because video game stories don't matter to me that much

I still think the Scarecrow missions/fights in AA are the best. I really loved those. AA is still my favorite of the three, but they're all really good.

I still go back and revisit AA and AC. I haven't touched AO in quite a while.

Scarecrow missions are my favorite part in Arkham Asylum
But overall, it's my least favorite in the franchise

The Scarecrow missions were indeed the best parts of these games.
My second favourite was probably Ras' underground Wonder City.
