Another thing: with the exception of the Mr. Freeze boss battle in Arkham City (which is amazing), all the boss battles have been repetitive and underwhelming.

True, but there were a few nice ones. For example the battle with Ras in that imaginary desert, the battle with the Mad Hatter...
They were repetitive because you just had to dodge and then punch dudes in the face, but the visuals made them good.

I totally agree, the stories have a lot to be desired for, and that's because the series relies on the gameplay more than anything. Which is fine to me. I love the games!

Yeah, no doubt. Pretty much other multi-person combat system before Arkham Asylum feels archaic now. The few that have tried to copy it have not done anywhere near as good of a job (Captain America, The Amazing Spider-Man, etc). It's so much better than the button-mashy systems of many games out there. The base controls are pretty much flawless: X is your basic strike, but you can jump over enemies, batarang the far-away ones, stun the armored ones, etc. When you make contact with an enemy, there's a slight hit pause; just long enough to allow you to pick your next target and move. You can't just button-mash. Any extra button presses or damage taken restarts your combo meter, preventing you from doing finishing moves, reducing the amount of health you recover after the fight, and slowing down your upgrade progress.

They start introducing enemies with knives and stun rods, and that's when you absolutely need to expand your arsenal beyond your basic attack and counter in order to take the enemies out. You need to stun the knife guys and jump over stun rod guys in order to make them vulnerable. Essentially, a whole fight turns into a combat puzzle where you have to strategically pick your next target in that small window right after your last attack, and you have to make sure that you're also countering basic enemies, disabling enemies with weapons, and dodging items thrown by other thugs.

City did a good job refining the mechanics and making it smoother, then Origins completed it by increasing reaction times and adding new enemy types. The combat has such a good learning curve; at first you don't really now how to fight properly, then you slowly learn to become a master not by getting flashier upgrades and weapons, but by increasing your own skill as a player. It's endlessly entertaining, and I can spend hours just at the combat challenges.

Yeah, love those Scarecrow/Ra's parts.

If anyone's interested, here's a supposed "leaked" plot for Arkham Knight. I myself won't read it (don't want to have it spoiled if true!) but perhaps you guys might want to take a look.

^Spoiler tags please!
That wasnt spoilerish in any way.
That's well within character.
Yeah, for normal people. Him blaming himself over not managing to save the joker? Come on now.

Btw,
i really wanted to see a Dickbats and Damian game, because that's one of my favourite things in batman ever, but i'll settle with a Beyond game. Well done!

Another well done for the story, if it is true, because it sounds really great.

You know how I know it's fake. It claims Hush is a side villain. Hush is probably the one financing Scarecrow since he has a canister of Scarecrow's fear gas in his place in Arkham City.

Hush isn't a side villain. Total ********.

So looks like no BvS presence at SDCC this year. Dang, I was barely able to get this years tickets, next years' is going to be even worse!

Personally, I think there will be a 'scheduled surprise', they'd be daft not too...

If WB have nothing BvS related, then F this Comic con...Although I am hoping they are trying to keep a surprise a surprise...

They should at least reveal the Trinity all together. We gotta get a look at WW. I don't want to see any low resolution, far away, spy pics of them before an official up close HD look at them.

I honestly don't want a full trinity look this early. I understand if they want to wait to reveal them. I'd rather see the Batman suit or Superman suit in color without all the filters and maybe the Batmobile. And didn't Snyder say Gadot wasn't ready for the WW suit? Or he said they haven't shot anything with her in the suit?

Yeah, but we're going to get see it anyway since they are already filming. Something will be leaked by a clever fan with a camera phone.

I think we may get some sort of DC related surprise but I wouldn't bet on it.

I did find out something interesting about Del Toro that could cause problems for JL: Dark.

Well Del Toro is going to be at Comic-Con. One of the people he's involving at his panel is Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Interesting he would involve him. Maybe to announce Hellboy 3?

Aw it seems likely to be Hellboy 3. Ahhhh I would be the happiest girl in the world if he touched JL Dark. :(
