Heath called Nolan up the moment he found out about them doing Joker, so that was a very early relationship. No draft or script was even written at that point. I’m pretty sure Heath already had the job before anything was set in stone.

If there's any role that Joaquin would be truly interested in, I have to believe it's that one. It seems to be that magical part who graces us every decade, and is gone as fast as he appears.

With there being a chance of only one solo bat-film (due to Ben's schedule), Joker is inevitably going to star. Therefore there’s no need to worry about sequels. Joaquin can put his all into that singular performance. Aside from DDL, I truly believe he’s the only other veteran actor who could succeed Heath and possibly exceed the hype once more.

And that's not at all a knock against Eisenbeg. I have defended his casting.

I have to agree. Phoenix as Lex would have been phenomenal.

I don't think that's CLEAR. I think it's clear that he's interested in them, he just needs to find the right one. He had extensive discussions with the studios about playing Lex AND Strange.

He's clearly interested in a comic book role. He just needs to find the right one. He likely doesn't want to do sequels, and he wants to be challenged. Joker is absolutely perfect for him. He'd probably show up only in one Batman solo, and Joker is arguably the most challenging cbm role.

If Joaquin Phoenix is going to do a comic book movie role, i think it'll be Joker, that seems the most up his alley.

I don't see Phoenix wanting Joker. I don't think he's after one character so to speak. He's after a character who won't be in more then one film.

The thing with Joker is I just don't want Joker so soon. There are so many more Batman villains you can do and I just don't want Joker as Batfleck's first film unless it's like Arkham Asylum.

Chris Rock was cast as Jimmy Olsen in Superman Lives. Would've been awesome...
