Chris Rock was cast as Jimmy Olsen in Superman Lives. Would've been awesome...

that cast in general could've been great.

From wht I've read

Superman- Nic Cage
Lex Luthor- Kevin Spacey
Brainiac- Tim Allen (weird choice but I can actually see it....)
Lois Lane- Courteney Cox
Jimmy Olsen- Chris Rock

and a Michael Keaton Batman cameo
:wow:
Now I want to see that movie.
Kevin Spacey is the only one to play the role suggested for him in that movie.

Phoenix never seemed like the type of actor who would commit himself for 5-6 years to one character which he would have to play across multiple movies. Especially high profile ones which would require him to do the press rounds worldwide. He has never been a fan of the media and barely does any press to promote his movies.
I can see him being interested in the character (Strange) but yeah all this stuff would put him off. Different if if was a one off performance.

remember those dumb people that were saying BVS' script must be **** if Phoenix passed up on Lex? Will using that same logic, Dr Strange's script must be **** too.

Please don't bring up Phoenix passing on Lex.

Phoenix passed.
Never called Cranston.
Thought about Tom Hanks for Lex but never called him.
Had Adam Driver (who would have been better) test for Lex

And yet some how some way we get the love child of Andy Samberg and Michael Cera.

Watch "The Double", it will change your opinion on whether Eisenberg can play a menacing Lex or not.

I watched that movie and after seeing it I'm even more worried about his ability to play Lex. That movie stunk and his performance was nothing special. I don't know why people keep bringing this movie up, Social Network and Now You See Me are much better examples (though still don't inspire much hope for me). In the Double he's basically just Jesse Eisenberg Vs. Prankster Jesse Eisenberg, both are nerdy fast talking weaklings, one is just alittle more cocky, but there is nothing menacing about that evil twin at all. He's one of the least menacing/intimidating actors in all of Hollywood. I've watched basically all his movies trying to find something, anything that would make this casting make sense, I've yet to see it. It's just baffling on so many levels. Now Jimmy Olsen, that would have been perfect for him.

I am going to trust the people making the movie over a bunch of people fancasting :oldrazz:

thanks, tacit. :yay:

I dig supes and bats when they team up. When i was a kid i had a reprint of their first pre-crisis team up when they discovered each other changing into their suits on a cruise ship or something. It was from the 50's i think.

Don't know what to expect from the movie, but i'm sure i'll dig it.

how dare you have a positive opinion feeling like you'll so call "dig it" about something on here!!!!

:hehe:

I haven't read the BvS script so I'm not vouching for it but those comments were so obviously ludicrous because actors pass on roles for many reasons all of the time.

I haven't seen GOTG (mostly do to me being busy and other things), but how big of a factor is Brolin's Thanos in it?
He's got a small role, but it's enough for us to get an idea of where he's going to take the role... He just wasn't menacing enough to be the final boss.

I'm confident that when Darkseid is introduced, he'll be portrayed as a monstrous embodiment of evil. He should be the DCCU's answer to Satan

In my JL origin script, I had this idea that Kalibak was in Brainiac's ship as a prisoner and after the big fight, he uses a boom tube to go back to Apocalypse where he's welcomed by Granny Goodness and sees Darkseid and telling him where's been and these heroes on Earth.

Ya a JL script with influences of the animated Superman/JL/JLU series would be cool.

I wouldn't mind a really scifi mixed with Gladiator scene where Superman visits War World in looking for a villain such as Brainiac, and gets caught up in fighting Mongul.

I don't know where I got the idea but it wasn't that but I was influenced by that scene, how Thanos is revealed in Avengers, and a bit of other things.

There is quite a bit of JL/JLU influence in my script but I don't go overboard with it. I will say how Brainiac gets defeated takes a nod from JLU.

i like Brolin and Spader, but..
I really don't get the Eisenberg hate.

Do people understand that Lex Luthor has been portrayed as a skinny guy multiple times...? His meekness adds to why he's perfect for the role. His strength lies within his mind, and being significantly smaller than Superman adds to that.

I love Eisenberg's casting. The dude was nominated for an Academy Award, this is going to be an amazing performance.

I'm going to let you finish. But do you prefer a bowl or a cone for your ice cream.
Hmmm. The advantage of the bowl is it can melt and not get messy, and you can enjoy varying consistencies of the ice cream. The cone adds an extra texture with the crunch, as well as flavor depending on the type of cone. This requires much thought I must say.

I think a lot of what was done in DC animated series could actually translate well to a live action movie, so nothing wrong with being inspired by the best.

I think a Dark Knight Returns situation with Joker would be best and Joaquin would be pretty ****ing great for the role.

I personally would want to see a Joker film with Under the Red Hood an Scott Snyder's Death of the Family as the main influences.

I always find it interesting how gladiatorial games in such a big thing in modern stories. I mean, how much universes have their version of it?
