So Guardians surpassed Man of Steel in the Box Office... which means all four superhero films of the year did that.

I certainly don't think Box Office means quality, you don't have to go further than this summer to see that. But I do wonder if MoS could have done better if the film was better received. More importantly, what, if anything, this means for BvS. Will they try to change the formula a little or in WB eyes it's everything fine?

Le sigh. That's all. Le sigh.

I think its fantastic (the news about GOTG but not really surprising considering how popular it was with not only critics but audiences!). As for MOS and moving forward, its been confirmed about WW/Zeus in the past 24-hours so we will be seeing a lot of different things in BvS and other films so I hope to see more imagination when it comes to the DC superheroes.

Man of Steel was stuck in the middle of June with a heck of alot more competition. So let's not even go here... Not every superhero film is destined to be the break out hit of the year.

Man of Steel was a hit though. A big hit. Critical controversy aside this movie did very well for WB. Not only that but I seem to remember it nearly making 100 mill on home video sales.

Not untrue. I just wonder what the people in charge of the DC films think about all this.

I am fully confident Batman v Superman will signal a change in direction for Warner Bros with less emphasis on real-world and they will be embracing the fantasy.

+1.

Not to start anything but it outsold Iron Man 3 on home video by a good margin, I believe.

Again, MAN OF STEEL is not the bad apple some make it out to be. It's sequel will make bank for the simple reason alone that it has a whole month to itself WORLDWIDE.

Is that how GUARDIANS made all its money this year?

As for MOS, that movie is in the past and moving forward I am looking forward to a more fantasy based universe from WB with gods, magic and all kinds of other things.

I share the same excitement but don't think that we know for sure how much of this universe will truly be magical/fantasy.

Hey Matt! Well there's gods for Wonder Woman. Will she fly? What about the lasso? There's so much WB could be doing to bolster their new universe and having a more fantasy fleshed out universe will be brilliant.

Well, MAN OF STEEL was an alien invasion story with flying beings in it. It's not like Snyder didn't put fantasy elements in the film.

Just saying...

I didnt say they havent embraced fantasy. I said I am looking forward to a more fantasy-based universe and that looks to be happening so its very exciting!

Hey mate!
I actually kind of hope she can't fly, I like it when Superman is the only one, I dunno, makes him more special haha. Because (from rumours of course) right now we "know" that the line up is - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman. If I'm not mistaken Supes is the only one that can fly in that group yes? I'm sure we will either get Green Lantern or Flash (maybe both?) though...

On the lasso, well, we know it's in the universe, who knows how it works though.
Anywhoo, yea, more fantasy elements is great, but I do like it when (like Man of Steel) it's grounded in a real world.
I personally feel like you can have Zeus in the real world. As long as they keep it all grounded, not my science per se, just by making us believe that these things could actually happen, like MoS did so greatly.

Since Wonder Woman is a demigod in Batman v Superman I would be surprised if she cannot fly since one of the most incredible gifts the Gods can bestow upon others is flight. I also think Snyder tipped the direction BvS will be heading in when he rang into the radio earlier this year when he commented "The cool thing with Aquaman is his trident – people don’t realize that can actually cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact."

That's a good point..dang. I just wanted her to be able to do massive leaps. Like Superman did before he could fly.

I think Wonder Woman will be able to hold her own against Superman. I just hope by the end of the movie all three (Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman) are alive and well because one of the rumors I have seen on the web has Superman dead, and then both Batman and Wonder Woman light the sky with the Bat-Signal (only it has Superman's chest symbol upon the fixture.)

If it has WW and AQ it will have to fully embrace it. Otherwise you dont do the demigod story for Wonder Woman or Atlantis.

On the GL thing, you could probably do it in the vein of Stargate. They did a lot of pretty epic stuff on a Sci Fi/SyFy budget. Same with Atlantis. The thing is you cant go epic right away, you have to build. Show Sinestro training him and the two of them going world to world helping. Also show Hal on Earth with his friends and family. Save the epic Oa stuff (and the fall of Sinestro) for the end of the season.

Of course you could wait a couple of years and just do "Hard Travelling Heroes" where Hal and Ollie chill in a truck travelling America :hehe:

I still like the idea of a Zatanna series...

Why is everytime I come in here I think nuisance? That's always the word that pops into my head.

Man of Steel bombed that's why they brought the director back to do a follow up. Yawn, same ole ********, never anymore convincing than last time. I wish that movies were bombs just because I disliked them. I guess Winter Soldier bombed as well.

Man of Steel had to face Brad Pitt and Pixar.

Name me one film Cap 2, Iron Man 3, and GOTG faced? Only film I can think of is TMNT for GOTG.

Oh and by the way, prepare to read me constantly bringing up Iron Man having a big role in Cap 3. You haters are going to get ****ing sick of me bringing that up so strap in and hold on.:yay:
