I think its awesome that this movie will have use of ALL 3 Bat vehicles - Batmobile, Batpod & Batplane... this is gna be so bad arse!!

I just watched TDK the other day and the scene when Reese says to Fox - "what are you building for him now, a rocket ship?" Really stood out to me and I immediately thought of the Batwing from the trailers as foreshadowing.

But what are criminals going to say instead of "It's the bat!"?

My reaction: It doesn't look like a bat!

I would rather prefer the Batjet or the Batplane. At least those two choices are a bit more appropriate.

Does anyone know if the 'wings' on the top extend out? I wonder if this vehicle is designed for low speed maneuverability (like a helicopter) as well as high point-to-point velocity (like a jet)

Funny I suggested this idea on Facebook!

If you look at pictures of it from Pittsburgh and NYC it looks as if the top flaps extend and detract based on different attack modes.

'The Bat'

simple but genius at the same time! typical Nolan style.

I've been saying the same thing since the summer! I think there is a strong possibility. It would make sense for Batman to have a really versatile aircraft. Helicopters are just as limited as conventional aircraft, which is why the U.S. military has been trying to bridge the gap with things like the V-22 Osprey.

It does not "come" from a Tumbler, ey?

Unless Batman has some sort of new, supersized Tumbler, NO. The Bat is physically much larger than a Tumbler as many have pointed out.

Yeah, I believe they are two separate vehicles created in the same style.

I believe Batman will have both the Tumbler and The Bat.

It's possible that we hear a preview of it in the trailer.

Y'know, at the end I think we do, especially in theatres it was really audible to me, right before the collapsing building/symbol sequence. Kind of a whirring, computer sound. Pretty cool.

The name though....I would've preferred something else really. The "Bat"? Might as well just call it the Batwing, or something completely different...

The only black tumbler we saw was early on, and I assume it was just repainted to be the only normal, of the 3 camo tumblers...

Possible, but most likely just a hint or placeholder...perhaps a jet sound SFX mixed in low for a temp design in a trailer. The majority of sound design and mixing has yet to come for the real thing.
