BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman - Part 16

ok meme was... cute (not really har har but nice attempt). what struck me more is the choice of the images. this is perfect when you want to compare the costumes and how they all come together as an ensemble team.

as if i couldnt love the costumes any more than they are distinctive and true for each superhero yet gives that unifying feel when put together. i can only have so much hope for WW's outfit (and GL and the other JL heroes)

That'd be interesting who would disrespect first? I think not in this manner but a spice argument would be really interesting.

A Best Actor nomination for Affleck for Gone Girl is on the cards I thinks.

There a couple of reasons -
1. The last 3 main characters from Fincher films all got Oscar nominated - Eisenberg, Mara and Pitt. Whether they were deserving or not is a different conversation but they did get nominated.

2. The industry LOVES Ben Affleck. LOVES. LOVES. LOVES. If any of you sat through any awards show for the 2012 awards season would know this. Every time he won an award there was instantaneous and warm applause and standing ovations and loud cheering and hollering. It was as if he had made Citizen Kane 10 times over instead of merely Argo.

3. There was this massive pity party that the director's branch snubbed Affleck for even a nomination for Best Director for Argo. It is no secret he would have won had he been nominated. He won every other industry award for directing. But he was denied the Oscar by his peers in the directing branch. Cue much skulking from Affleck and much consolation from the rest of Hollywood on this catastrophe.

This is the perfect way for the Academy to make up for it. The film will of course be well reviewed- critics love Fincher, has a prime Oscar slot on the release calender and the studio will be pushing this very hard as their biggest pony.

So a nom for Affleck for Best Actor is very very likely. And this will of course endear him to Bat fans even further. It will work out like clockwork.

i wouldnt be surprised. this is starting to feel similar to how Hollywood tried to make up for all those years of ignoring Bale. i still couldnt wrap my mind around that BD brouhaha over Argo (there have been less talented, less established noobs being the darling of the Directors Guild in the past. go figure) but yeah Ben is the new Batman, Hollywood loves Batman (even for all the wrong reasons) so he's at least gonna get a nom.

Though it isn't "my" Batman, it would be interesting to see an unbridled Milleresque psychopath just once. Then Superman can set him a good example and lead him back to the path of light.

This is what I'm hoping for as well, I'd like to see a Batman that enjoys beating up thugs and villains. My favourite part about TDKReturns is that Batman doesn't care that he doesn't really stand a chance against Superman but fights him anyway, and wins. I love the Nolan trilogy, but Batman/Bruce Wayne got far too mopey when it cam to Rachel Dawes. I'm hoping Affleck's Batman is more of a nutcase when he wears the cape and cowl.

There is a line that sums up modern Batman well from the SON OF SUPERMAN story by Chaykin. After sort of being co-opted Superman and Batman come back, wreck shop on the bad guys and now older, Bruce decides to take up the old costume again. At stories end Clark asks him what he's going to do next. His answer is pure Batman.

SUPERMAN: So, what are you going to do next?

BATMAN: Me? I'm going to go back to doing what I do best.

SUPERMAN: Which is?

BATMAN: Punishing the wicked... without anyone's consent.

I definitely want to see a more extreme Batman. One who is resigned to his crusade but also finds some kind of enjoyment and/or catharsis from it. Who has maybe lost some hope in people and the world. Until he meets Kal.

Kidding, but I do really like the bat symbol. Honestly I don't know that I've seen any bat symbol that I've detested. S shields on the other hand...

Has anybody mentioned how good Jackedfleck's face looks in the cowl? That image could come straight out of a comic book/ one of the Arkham games.

If I was to be really picky, I'd say it looks like Superman's 'Kryptonian' suit and Batman's suit material look too similar. I wouldn't change a thing though really. Honestly it's perfect. It's so much better than the Nolan armor. I thought we'd get maybe something like a grey Captain America suit to distinguish between the alien and earthly fabrics but it's no biggie. Batman and Superman have always dressed fundamentally the same, and it's never addressed, or had to be, in the comics.

I wonder if Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter are all gonna have this same suit material too. That's kinda a bummer. The nice thing about the Avengers is everyone has a really unique aesthetic. Cap, IM, Hulk, etc. The JL is pretty samey that way.
